1 P or tanto, a los ancianos entre vosotros, exhorto yo, anciano como ellos y testigo de los padecimientos de Cristo, y también participante de la gloria que ha de ser revelada:

I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and who will also share in the glory that will be revealed.

2 p astoread el rebaño de Dios entre vosotros, velando por él, no por obligación, sino voluntariamente, como quiere Dios; no por la avaricia del dinero, sino con sincero deseo;

Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, exercising the oversight, not under compulsion, but voluntarily, not for dishonest gain, but willingly;

3 t ampoco como teniendo señorío sobre los que os han sido confiados, sino demostrando ser ejemplos del rebaño.

neither as lording it over those entrusted to you, but making yourselves examples to the flock.

4 Y cuando aparezca el Príncipe de los pastores, recibiréis la corona inmarcesible de gloria.

When the chief Shepherd is revealed, you will receive the crown of glory that doesn’t fade away.

5 A simismo, vosotros los más jóvenes, estad sujetos a los mayores; y todos, revestíos de humildad en vuestro trato mutuo, porque Dios resiste a los soberbios, pero da gracia a los humildes. Consejos para la iglesia

Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you clothe yourselves with humility, to subject yourselves to one another; for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

6 H umillaos, pues, bajo la poderosa mano de Dios, para que El os exalte a su debido tiempo,

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time;

7 e chando toda vuestra ansiedad sobre El, porque El tiene cuidado de vosotros.

casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.

8 S ed de espíritu sobrio, estad alerta. Vuestro adversario, el diablo, anda al acecho como león rugiente, buscando a quien devorar.

Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

9 P ero resistidle firmes en la fe, sabiendo que las mismas experiencias de sufrimiento se van cumpliendo en vuestros hermanos en todo el mundo.

Withstand him steadfast in your faith, knowing that your brothers who are in the world are undergoing the same sufferings.

10 Y después de que hayáis sufrido un poco de tiempo, el Dios de toda gracia, que os llamó a su gloria eterna en Cristo, El mismo os perfeccionará, afirmará, fortalecerá y establecerá.

But may the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

12 P or conducto de Silvano, nuestro fiel hermano (porque así lo considero), os he escrito brevemente, exhortando y testificando que esta es la verdadera gracia de Dios. Estad firmes en ella.

Through Silvanus, our faithful brother, as I consider him, I have written to you briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which you stand.

13 L a que está en Babilonia, elegida juntamente con vosotros, os saluda, y también mi hijo Marcos.

She who is in Babylon, chosen together with you, greets you; and so does Mark, my son.

14 S aludaos unos a otros con un beso de amor fraternal. La paz sea con todos vosotros, los que estáis en Cristo.
