1 C ongregaos, congregaos, oh nación sin pudor,

Gather yourselves together, yes, gather together, you nation that has no shame,

2 a ntes que entre en vigencia el decreto (como tamo pasa el día ), antes que venga sobre vosotros el ardor de la ira del Señor, antes que venga sobre vosotros el día de la ira del Señor.

before the appointed time when the day passes as the chaff, before the fierce anger of Yahweh comes on you, before the day of Yahweh’s anger comes on you.

3 B uscad al Señor, vosotros todos, humildes de la tierra que habéis cumplido sus preceptos; buscad la justicia, buscad la humildad. Quizá seréis protegidos el día de la ira del Señor.

Seek Yahweh, all you humble of the land, who have kept his ordinances. Seek righteousness. Seek humility. It may be that you will be hidden in the day of Yahweh’s anger.

4 P orque Gaza será abandonada, y Ascalón desolada; Asdod será expulsada al mediodía, y Ecrón será desarraigada.

For Gaza will be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation. They will drive out Ashdod at noonday, and Ekron will be rooted up.

5 ¡ Ay de los habitantes de la costa del mar, la nación de los cereteos! La palabra del Señor está contra vosotros: Canaán, tierra de los filisteos, yo te destruiré hasta que no quede habitante alguno.

Woe to the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! Yahweh’s word is against you, Canaan, the land of the Philistines. I will destroy you, that there will be no inhabitant.

6 Y la costa del mar se convertirá en pastizales, en praderas para pastores y apriscos para ovejas.

The sea coast will be pastures, with cottages for shepherds and folds for flocks.

7 L a costa será para el remanente de la casa de Judá; allí apacentarán y en las casas de Ascalón reposarán al atardecer; porque el Señor su Dios los cuidará y los hará volver de su cautiverio.

The coast will be for the remnant of the house of Judah. They will find pasture. In the houses of Ashkelon, they will lie down in the evening, for Yahweh, their God, will visit them, and restore them.

8 H e oído las afrentas de Moab y los ultrajes de los hijos de Amón, con los cuales afrentaron a mi pueblo y se engrandecieron sobre su territorio.

I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the insults of the children of Ammon, with which they have reproached my people, and magnified themselves against their border.

9 P or tanto, vivo yo —declara el Señor de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel— que Moab será como Sodoma, y los hijos de Amón como Gomorra: campo de ortigas y mina de sal, una desolación perpetua. El remanente de mi pueblo los saqueará, y el resto de mi nación los heredará.

Therefore as I live, says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, surely Moab will be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, a possession of nettles, and salt pits, and a perpetual desolation. The remnant of my people will plunder them, and the survivors of my nation will inherit them.

10 E sto tendrán ellos como pago por su orgullo, porque han afrentado y se han engrandecido sobre el pueblo del Señor de los ejércitos.

This they will have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of Yahweh of Armies.

11 T errible será el Señor contra ellos, porque debilitará a todos los dioses de la tierra; y se inclinarán a El todas las costas de las naciones cada una desde su lugar.

Yahweh will be awesome to them, for he will famish all the gods of the land. Men will worship him, everyone from his place, even all the shores of the nations.

12 T ambién vosotros, etíopes, seréis muertos por mi espada.

You Cushites also, you will be killed by my sword.

13 E l extenderá su mano contra el norte y destruirá a Asiria, y hará de Nínive una desolación, árida como el desierto;

He will stretch out his hand against the north, destroy Assyria, and will make Nineveh a desolation, as dry as the wilderness.

14 y se echarán en medio de ella los rebaños, toda clase de animales, tanto el pelícano como el erizo pasarán la noche en los capiteles; el ave cantará en la ventana, habrá desolación en el umbral, porque El ha dejado al descubierto el entablado de cedro.

Herds will lie down in the middle of her, all the animals of the nations. Both the pelican and the porcupine will lodge in its capitals. Their calls will echo through the windows. Desolation will be in the thresholds, for he has laid bare the cedar beams.

15 E sta es la ciudad divertida que vivía confiada, que decía en su corazón: Yo soy, y no hay otra más que yo. ¡Cómo ha sido hecha una desolación, una guarida de fieras! Todo el que pase por ella silbará y agitará su mano.

This is the joyous city that lived carelessly, that said in her heart, “I am, and there is no one besides me.” How she has become a desolation, a place for animals to lie down in! Everyone who passes by her will hiss, and shake their fists.
