1 D ecía también Jesús a los discípulos: Había cierto hombre rico que tenía un mayordomo; y éste fue acusado ante él de derrochar sus bienes.

He also said to his disciples, “There was a certain rich man who had a manager. An accusation was made to him that this man was wasting his possessions.

2 E ntonces lo llamó y le dijo: “¿Qué es esto que oigo acerca de ti? Rinde cuentas de tu administración, porque no puedes ser más mayordomo.”

He called him, and said to him, ‘What is this that I hear about you? Give an accounting of your management, for you can no longer be manager.’

3 Y el mayordomo se dijo a sí mismo: “¿Qué haré? Pues mi señor me quita la administración. No tengo fuerzas para cavar, y me da vergüenza mendigar.

“The manager said within himself, ‘What will I do, seeing that my lord is taking away the management position from me? I don’t have strength to dig. I am ashamed to beg.

4 “ Ya sé lo que haré, para que cuando se me destituya de la administración me reciban en sus casas.”

I know what I will do, so that when I am removed from management, they may receive me into their houses.’

5 Y llamando a cada uno de los deudores de su señor, dijo al primero: “¿Cuánto le debes a mi señor?”

Calling each one of his lord’s debtors to him, he said to the first, ‘How much do you owe to my lord?’

6 Y él dijo: “Cien barriles de aceite.” Y le dijo: “Toma tu factura, siéntate pronto y escribe cincuenta.”

He said, ‘A hundred batos of oil.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.’

7 D espués dijo a otro: “Y tú, ¿cuánto debes?” Y él respondió: “Cien medidas de trigo.” El le dijo: “Toma tu factura y escribe ochenta.”

Then he said to another, ‘How much do you owe?’ He said, ‘A hundred cors of wheat.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and write eighty.’

8 E l señor elogió al mayordomo injusto porque había procedido con sagacidad, pues los hijos de este siglo son más sagaces en las relaciones con sus semejantes que los hijos de la luz.

“His lord commended the dishonest manager because he had done wisely, for the children of this world are, in their own generation, wiser than the children of the light.

9 Y yo os digo: Haceos amigos por medio de las riquezas injustas, para que cuando falten, os reciban en las moradas eternas.

I tell you, make for yourselves friends by means of unrighteous mammon, so that when you fail, they may receive you into the eternal tents.

10 E l que es fiel en lo muy poco, es fiel también en lo mucho; y el que es injusto en lo muy poco, también es injusto en lo mucho.

He who is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much. He who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.

11 P or tanto, si no habéis sido fieles en el uso de las riquezas injustas, ¿quién os confiará las riquezas verdaderas?

If therefore you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

12 Y si no habéis sido fieles en el uso de lo ajeno, ¿quién os dará lo que es vuestro ?

If you have not been faithful in that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?

13 N ingún siervo puede servir a dos señores, porque o aborrecerá a uno y amará al otro, o se apegará a uno y despreciará al otro. No podéis servir a Dios y a las riquezas. Los fariseos y la ley

No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. You aren’t able to serve God and Mammon.”

14 L os fariseos, que eran amantes del dinero, oían todas estas cosas y se burlaban de El.

The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they scoffed at him.

15 Y El les dijo: Vosotros sois los que os justificáis a vosotros mismos ante los hombres, pero Dios conoce vuestros corazones, porque lo que entre los hombres es de alta estima, abominable es delante de Dios.

He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts. For that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

16 L a ley y los profetas se proclamaron hasta Juan; desde entonces se anuncian las buenas nuevas del reino de Dios, y todos se esfuerzan por entrar en él.

The law and the prophets were until John. From that time the Good News of God’s Kingdom is preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.

17 P ero más fácil es que el cielo y la tierra pasen, que un ápice de la ley deje de cumplirse.

But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away, than for one tiny stroke of a pen in the law to fall.

18 T odo el que se divorcia de su mujer y se casa con otra, comete adulterio; y el que se casa con la que está divorciada del marido, comete adulterio. El rico y Lázaro

Everyone who divorces his wife, and marries another, commits adultery. He who marries one who is divorced from a husband commits adultery.

19 H abía cierto hombre rico que se vestía de púrpura y lino fino, celebrando cada día fiestas con esplendidez.

“Now there was a certain rich man, and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, living in luxury every day.

20 Y un pobre llamado Lázaro yacía a su puerta cubierto de llagas,

A certain beggar, named Lazarus, was laid at his gate, full of sores,

21 a nsiando saciarse de las migajas que caían de la mesa del rico; además, hasta los perros venían y le lamían las llagas.

and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table. Yes, even the dogs came and licked his sores.

22 Y sucedió que murió el pobre y fue llevado por los ángeles al seno de Abraham; y murió también el rico y fue sepultado.

The beggar died, and he was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died, and was buried.

23 E n el Hades alzó sus ojos, estando en tormentos, y vio a Abraham a lo lejos, y a Lázaro en su seno.

In Hades, he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far off, and Lazarus at his bosom.

24 Y gritando, dijo: “Padre Abraham, ten misericordia de mí, y envía a Lázaro para que moje la punta de su dedo en agua y refresque mi lengua, pues estoy en agonía en esta llama.”

He cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue! For I am in anguish in this flame.’

25 P ero Abraham le dijo: “Hijo, recuerda que durante tu vida recibiste tus bienes, y Lázaro, igualmente, males; pero ahora él es consolado aquí, y tú estás en agonía.

“But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that you, in your lifetime, received your good things, and Lazarus, in the same way, bad things. But now here he is comforted and you are in anguish.

26 “ Y además de todo esto, hay un gran abismo puesto entre nosotros y vosotros, de modo que los que quieran pasar de aquí a vosotros no puedan, y tampoco nadie pueda cruzar de allá a nosotros.”

Besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, that those who want to pass from here to you are not able, and that no one may cross over from there to us.’

27 E ntonces él dijo: “Te ruego, pues, padre, que lo envíes a la casa de mi padre,

“He said, ‘I ask you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house;

28 p ues tengo cinco hermanos, de modo que él los prevenga, para que ellos no vengan también a este lugar de tormento.”

for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, so they won’t also come into this place of torment.’

29 P ero Abraham dijo: “Ellos tienen a Moisés y a los profetas; que los oigan.”

“But Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets. Let them listen to them.’

30 Y él dijo: “No, padre Abraham, sino que si alguno va a ellos de entre los muertos, se arrepentirán.”

“He said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’

31 M as Abraham le contestó: “Si no escuchan a Moisés y a los profetas, tampoco se persuadirán si alguno se levanta de entre los muertos.”

“He said to him, ‘If they don’t listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if one rises from the dead.’”
