1 M oisés respondió, y dijo: ¿Y si no me creen, ni escuchan mi voz ? Porque quizá digan: “No se te ha aparecido el Señor.”

Moses answered, “But, behold, they will not believe me, nor listen to my voice; for they will say, ‘Yahweh has not appeared to you.’”

2 Y el Señor le dijo: ¿Qué es eso que tienes en la mano? Y él respondió: Una vara.

Yahweh said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A rod.”

3 E ntonces El dijo: Echala en tierra. Y él la echó en tierra y se convirtió en una serpiente; y Moisés huyó de ella.

He said, “Throw it on the ground.” He threw it on the ground, and it became a snake; and Moses ran away from it.

4 P ero el Señor dijo a Moisés: Extiende tu mano y agárra la por la cola. Y él extendió la mano, la agarró, y se volvió vara en su mano.

Yahweh said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand, and take it by the tail.” He stretched out his hand, and took hold of it, and it became a rod in his hand.

5 P or esto creerán que se te ha aparecido el Señor, el Dios de sus padres, el Dios de Abraham, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob.

“That they may believe that Yahweh, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.”

6 Y añadió el Señor: Ahora mete la mano en tu seno. Y él metió la mano en su seno, y cuando la sacó, he aquí, su mano estaba leprosa, blanca como la nieve.

Yahweh said furthermore to him, “Now put your hand inside your cloak.” He put his hand inside his cloak, and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous, as white as snow.

7 E ntonces El dijo: Vuelve a meter la mano en tu seno. Y él volvió a meter la mano en su seno, y cuando la sacó de su seno, he aquí, se había vuelto como el resto de su carne.

He said, “Put your hand inside your cloak again.” He put his hand inside his cloak again, and when he took it out of his cloak, behold, it had turned again as his other flesh.

8 Y acontecerá que si no te creen, ni obedecen el testimonio de la primera señal, quizá crean el testimonio de la segunda señal.

“It will happen, if they will not believe you or listen to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.

9 Y sucederá que si todavía no creen estas dos señales, ni escuchan tu voz, entonces sacarás agua del Nilo y la derramarás sobre la tierra seca; y el agua que saques del Nilo se convertirá en sangre sobre la tierra seca.

It will happen, if they will not believe even these two signs or listen to your voice, that you shall take of the water of the river, and pour it on the dry land. The water which you take out of the river will become blood on the dry land.”

10 E ntonces Moisés dijo al Señor: Por favor, Señor, nunca he sido hombre elocuente, ni ayer ni en tiempos pasados, ni aun después de que has hablado a tu siervo; porque soy tardo en el habla y torpe de lengua.

Moses said to Yahweh, “O Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before now, nor since you have spoken to your servant; for I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.”

11 Y el Señor le dijo: ¿Quién ha hecho la boca del hombre? ¿O quién hace al hombre mudo o sordo, con vista o ciego ? ¿No soy yo, el Señor ?

Yahweh said to him, “Who made man’s mouth? Or who makes one mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Isn’t it I, Yahweh?

12 A hora pues, ve, y yo estaré con tu boca, y te enseñaré lo que has de hablar.

Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth, and teach you what you shall speak.”

13 P ero él dijo: Te ruego, Señor, envía ahora el mensaje por medio de quien tú quieras.

He said, “Oh, Lord, please send someone else.”

14 E ntonces se encendió la ira del Señor contra Moisés, y le dijo: ¿No está allí tu hermano Aarón, el levita? Yo sé que él habla bien. Y además, he aquí, él sale a recibirte; al verte, se alegrará en su corazón.

Yahweh’s anger burned against Moses, and he said, “What about Aaron, your brother, the Levite? I know that he can speak well. Also, behold, he comes out to meet you. When he sees you, he will be glad in his heart.

15 Y tú le hablarás, y pondrás las palabras en su boca; y yo estaré con tu boca y con su boca y os enseñaré lo que habéis de hacer.

You shall speak to him, and put the words in his mouth. I will be with your mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what you shall do.

16 A demás, él hablará por ti al pueblo; y él te servirá como boca y tú serás para él como Dios.

He will be your spokesman to the people; and it will happen, that he will be to you a mouth, and you will be to him as God.

17 Y tomarás en tu mano esta vara con la cual harás las señales. Moisés regresa a Egipto

You shall take this rod in your hand, with which you shall do the signs.”

18 M oisés se fue y volvió a casa de su suegro Jetro, y le dijo: Te ruego que me dejes ir para volver a mis hermanos que están en Egipto, y ver si aún viven. Y Jetro dijo a Moisés: Ve en paz.

Moses went and returned to Jethro his father-in-law, and said to him, “Please let me go and return to my brothers who are in Egypt, and see whether they are still alive.” Jethro said to Moses, “Go in peace.”

19 Y el Señor dijo a Moisés en Madián: Ve, vuelve a Egipto, porque han muerto todos los hombres que buscaban tu vida.

Yahweh said to Moses in Midian, “Go, return into Egypt; for all the men who sought your life are dead.”

20 M oisés tomó su mujer y sus hijos, los montó sobre un asno y volvió a la tierra de Egipto. Tomó también Moisés la vara de Dios en su mano.

Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them on a donkey, and he returned to the land of Egypt. Moses took God’s rod in his hand.

21 Y el Señor dijo a Moisés: Cuando vuelvas a Egipto, mira que hagas delante de Faraón todas las maravillas que he puesto en tu mano; pero yo endureceré su corazón de modo que no dejará ir al pueblo.

Yahweh said to Moses, “When you go back into Egypt, see that you do before Pharaoh all the wonders which I have put in your hand, but I will harden his heart and he will not let the people go.

22 E ntonces dirás a Faraón: “Así dice el Señor: ‘Israel es mi hijo, mi primogénito.

You shall tell Pharaoh, ‘Yahweh says, Israel is my son, my firstborn,

23 ‘ Y te he dicho: “Deja ir a mi hijo para que me sirva ”, pero te has negado a dejarlo ir. He aquí, mataré a tu hijo, a tu primogénito.’”

and I have said to you, “Let my son go, that he may serve me”; and you have refused to let him go. Behold, I will kill your son, your firstborn.’”

24 Y aconteció que en una posada en el camino, el Señor le salió al encuentro y quiso matarlo.

On the way at a lodging place, Yahweh met Moses and wanted to kill him.

25 E ntonces Séfora tomó un pedernal, cortó el prepucio de su hijo y lo echó a los pies de Moisés, y dijo: Tú eres, ciertamente, un esposo de sangre para mí.

Then Zipporah took a flint, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet; and she said, “Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me.”

26 Y Dios lo dejó. Ella había dicho entonces: Eres esposo de sangre, a causa de la circuncisión.

So he let him alone. Then she said, “You are a bridegroom of blood,” because of the circumcision.

27 Y el Señor dijo a Aarón: Ve al encuentro de Moisés en el desierto. Y él fue y le salió al encuentro en el monte de Dios, y lo besó.

Yahweh said to Aaron, “Go into the wilderness to meet Moses.” He went, and met him on God’s mountain, and kissed him.

28 Y contó Moisés a Aarón todas las palabras del Señor con las cuales le enviaba, y todas las señales que le había mandado hacer.

Moses told Aaron all Yahweh’s words with which he had sent him, and all the signs with which he had instructed him.

29 E ntonces fueron Moisés y Aarón y reunieron a todos los ancianos de los hijos de Israel;

Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel.

30 y Aarón habló todas las palabras que Dios había hablado a Moisés. Este hizo entonces las señales en presencia del pueblo,

Aaron spoke all the words which Yahweh had spoken to Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.

31 y el pueblo creyó. Y al oír que el Señor había visitado a los hijos de Israel y había visto su aflicción, se postraron y adoraron.

The people believed, and when they heard that Yahweh had visited the children of Israel, and that he had seen their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshiped.
