1 C uando Abram tenía noventa y nueve años, el Señor se le apareció, y le dijo: Yo soy el Dios Todopoderoso; anda delante de mí, y sé perfecto.

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, Yahweh appeared to Abram, and said to him, “I am God Almighty. Walk before me, and be blameless.

2 Y yo estableceré mi pacto contigo, y te multiplicaré en gran manera.

I will make my covenant between me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.”

3 E ntonces Abram se postró sobre su rostro y Dios habló con él, diciendo:

Abram fell on his face. God talked with him, saying,

4 E n cuanto a mí, he aquí, mi pacto es contigo, y serás padre de multitud de naciones.

“As for me, behold, my covenant is with you. You will be the father of a multitude of nations.

5 Y no serás llamado más Abram; sino que tu nombre será Abraham; porque yo te haré padre de multitud de naciones.

Your name will no more be called Abram, but your name will be Abraham; for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations.

6 T e haré fecundo en gran manera, y de ti haré naciones, y de ti saldrán reyes.

I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of you. Kings will come out of you.

7 Y estableceré mi pacto contigo y con tu descendencia después de ti, por todas sus generaciones, por pacto eterno, de ser Dios tuyo y de toda tu descendencia después de ti.

I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to you and to your offspring after you.

8 Y te daré a ti, y a tu descendencia después de ti, la tierra de tus peregrinaciones, toda la tierra de Canaán como posesión perpetua; y yo seré su Dios. La circuncisión como señal del pacto

I will give to you, and to your offspring after you, the land where you are traveling, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession. I will be their God.”

9 D ijo además Dios a Abraham: Tú, pues, guardarás mi pacto, tú y tu descendencia después de ti, por sus generaciones.

God said to Abraham, “As for you, you will keep my covenant, you and your offspring after you throughout their generations.

10 E ste es mi pacto que guardaréis, entre yo y vosotros y tu descendencia después de ti: Todo varón de entre vosotros será circuncidado.

This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and your offspring after you. Every male among you shall be circumcised.

11 S eréis circuncidados en la carne de vuestro prepucio, y esto será la señal de mi pacto con vosotros.

You shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin. It will be a token of the covenant between me and you.

12 A la edad de ocho días será circuncidado entre vosotros todo varón por vuestras generaciones; asimismo el siervo nacido en tu casa, o que sea comprado con dinero a cualquier extranjero, que no sea de tu descendencia.

He who is eight days old will be circumcised among you, every male throughout your generations, he who is born in the house, or bought with money from any foreigner who is not of your offspring.

13 C iertamente ha de ser circuncidado el siervo nacido en tu casa o el comprado con tu dinero; así estará mi pacto en vuestra carne como pacto perpetuo.

He who is born in your house, and he who is bought with your money, must be circumcised. My covenant will be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.

14 M as el varón incircunciso, que no es circuncidado en la carne de su prepucio, esa persona será cortada de entre su pueblo; ha quebrantado mi pacto.

The uncircumcised male who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that soul shall be cut off from his people. He has broken my covenant.”

15 E ntonces Dios dijo a Abraham: A Sarai, tu mujer, no la llamarás Sarai, sino que Sara será su nombre.

God said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but her name will be Sarah.

16 Y la bendeciré, y de cierto te daré un hijo por medio de ella. La bendeciré y será madre de naciones; reyes de pueblos vendrán de ella.

I will bless her, and moreover I will give you a son by her. Yes, I will bless her, and she will be a mother of nations. Kings of peoples will come from her.”

17 E ntonces Abraham se postró sobre su rostro y se rió, y dijo en su corazón: ¿A un hombre de cien años le nacerá un hijo? ¿Y Sara, que tiene noventa años, concebirá ?

Then Abraham fell on his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, “Will a child be born to him who is one hundred years old? Will Sarah, who is ninety years old, give birth?”

18 Y dijo Abraham a Dios: ¡Ojalá que Ismael viva delante de ti!

Abraham said to God, “Oh that Ishmael might live before you!”

19 P ero Dios dijo: No, sino que Sara, tu mujer, te dará un hijo, y le pondrás el nombre de Isaac; y estableceré mi pacto con él, pacto perpetuo para su descendencia después de él.

God said, “No, but Sarah, your wife, will bear you a son. You shall call his name Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his offspring after him.

20 Y en cuanto a Ismael, te he oído; he aquí, yo lo bendeciré y lo haré fecundo y lo multiplicaré en gran manera. Engendrará a doce príncipes y haré de él una gran nación.

As for Ishmael, I have heard you. Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly. He will become the father of twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation.

21 P ero mi pacto lo estableceré con Isaac, el cual Sara te dará a luz por este tiempo el año que viene.

But my covenant I establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you at this set time next year.”

22 C uando terminó de hablar con él, ascendió Dios dejando a Abraham.

When he finished talking with him, God went up from Abraham.

23 E ntonces Abraham tomó a su hijo Ismael y a todos los siervos nacidos en su casa y a todos los que habían sido comprados con su dinero, a todo varón de entre las personas de la casa de Abraham, y aquel mismo día les circuncidó la carne de su prepucio, tal como Dios le había dicho.

Abraham took Ishmael his son, all who were born in his house, and all who were bought with his money; every male among the men of Abraham’s house, and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the same day, as God had said to him.

24 A braham tenía noventa y nueve años cuando fue circuncidado en la carne de su prepucio.

Abraham was ninety-nine years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

25 Y su hijo Ismael tenía trece años cuando se le circuncidó la carne de su prepucio.

Ishmael, his son, was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

26 E n el mismo día fueron circuncidados Abraham y su hijo Ismael.

In the same day both Abraham and Ishmael, his son, were circumcised.

27 Y todos los varones de su casa, que habían nacido en la casa o que habían sido comprados a un extranjero por dinero, fueron circuncidados con él.

All the men of his house, those born in the house, and those bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him.
