2 a nd to the sister Apphia and to Archippus our fellow-soldier, and to the assembly which in thine house.

3 G race to you and peace from God our Father, and Lord Jesus Christ.

благодать вам і мир від Бога Отця нашого й Господа Ісуса Христа!

4 I thank my God, always making mention of thee at my prayers,

Я завсіди дякую Богові моєму, коли тебе згадую в молитвах своїх.

5 h earing of thy love and the faith which thou hast towards the Lord Jesus, and towards all the saints,

Бо я чув про любов твою й віру, яку маєш до Господа Ісуса, і до всіх святих,

6 i n such sort that thy participation in the faith should become operative in the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in us towards Christ.

щоб спільність віри твоєї діяльна була в пізнанні всякого добра, що в нас для Христа.

7 F or we have great thankfulness and encouragement through thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.

Бо ми маємо радість велику й потіху в любові твоїй, серця бо святих заспокоїв ти, брате.

8 W herefore having much boldness in Christ to enjoin thee what is fitting,

Через це, хоч я маю велику відвагу в Христі подавати накази тобі про потрібне,

9 f or love's sake I rather exhort, being such a one as Paul the aged, and now also prisoner of Jesus Christ.

але більше з любови благаю я, як Павло, старий, тепер же ще й в'язень Христа Ісуса.

10 I exhort thee for my child, whom I have begotten in bonds, Onesimus,

Благаю тебе про сина свого, про Онисима, що його породив я в кайданах своїх.

11 o nce unserviceable to thee, but now serviceable to thee and to me:

Колись то для тебе він був непотрібний, тепер же для тебе й для мене він дуже потрібний.

12 w hom I have sent back to thee: him, that is, my bowels:

Тобі я вертаю його, того, хто є неначе серце моє.

13 w hom I was desirous of keeping with myself, that for thee he might minister to me in the bonds of the glad tidings;

Я хотів був тримати його при собі, щоб він замість тебе мені послужив у кайданах за Євангелію,

14 b ut I have wished to do nothing without thy mind, that thy good might not be as of necessity but of willingness:

та без волі твоєї нічого робити не хотів я, щоб твій добрий учинок не був ніби вимушений, але добровільний.

15 f or perhaps for this reason he has been separated for a time, that thou mightest possess him fully for ever;

Бо може для того він був розлучився на час, щоб навіки прийняв ти його,

16 n ot any longer as a bondman, but above a bondman, a beloved brother, specially to me, and how much rather to thee, both in flesh and in Lord?

і вже не як раба, але вище від раба, як брата улюбленого, особливо для мене, а тим більше для тебе, і за тілом, і в Господі.

17 I f therefore thou holdest me to be a partner, receive him as me;

Отож, коли маєш за друга мене, то прийми його, як мене.

18 b ut if he have wronged thee anything or owe anything, put this to my account.

Коли ж він чим скривдив тебе або винен тобі, полічи це мені.

19 I Paul have written with mine own hand; I will repay: that I say not to thee that thou owest even thine own self also to me.

Я, Павло, написав це рукою своєю: Я віддам, щоб тобі не казати, що ти навіть самого себе мені винен.

20 Y ea, brother, I would have profit of thee in Lord: refresh my bowels in Christ.

Так, брате, нехай я одержу те, що від тебе прохаю в Господі. Заспокой моє серце в Христі!

21 B eing confident of thine obedience, I have written to thee, knowing that thou wilt do even more than I say.

Пересвідчений я про слухняність твою, і тобі написав оце, відаючи, що ти зробиш і більше, ніж я говорю.

22 B ut withal prepare me also a lodging; for I hope that I shall be granted to you through your prayers.

А разом мені приготуй і помешкання, бо надіюся я, що за ваші молитви я буду дарований вам.

23 E paphras salutes thee, my fellow-prisoner in Christ Jesus;

Вітає тебе Епафрас, мій співв'язень у Христі Ісусі,

24 M ark, Aristarchus, Demas, Luke, my fellow-workmen.

Марко, Аристарх, Димас, Лука, мої співробітники.

25 T he grace of our Lord Jesus Christ with your spirit.
