1 T his third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every matter be established.

Оце втретє до вас я йду. Кожна справа хай станеться вироком двох чи трьох свідків.

2 I have declared beforehand, and I say beforehand as present the second time, and now absent, to those that have sinned before, and to all the rest, that if I come again I will not spare.

Попереджував я й попередую, як у вас був удруге, так тепер неприсутній, отих, що згрішили перед тим, і всіх інших, що коли прийду знову, то я не помилую,

3 S ince ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, (who is not weak towards you, but is powerful among you,

через те, що шукаєте доказу, що в мені промовляє Христос, Який не безсилий до вас, але сильний у вас.

4 f or if indeed he has been crucified in weakness, yet he lives by God's power; for indeed we are weak in him, but we shall live with him by God's power towards you,)

Бо хоч Він був і розп'ятий в немочі, та живий із сили Божої. Так і ми, хоча немічні в Нім, та з Ним будемо жити з Божої сили у вас.

5 e xamine your own selves if ye be in the faith; prove your own selves: do ye not recognise yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you, unless indeed ye be reprobates?

Випробовуйте самих себе, чи ви в вірі, пізнавайте самих себе. Хіба ви не знаєте самих себе, що Ісус Христос у вас? Хіба тільки, що ви не такі, якими мали б бути.

6 N ow I hope that ye will know that we are not reprobates.

Але маю надію, що пізнаєте ви, що ми такі, якими мали б бути.

7 B ut we pray to God that ye may do nothing evil; not that we may appear approved, but that ye may do what is right, and we be as reprobates.

І ми молимо Бога, щоб ви не чинили ніякого лиха, не для того, щоб виявились ми досвідчені, а щоб учинили ви добре, а ми будем немов негідні.

8 F or we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.

Бо нічого не можемо ми проти правди, а за правду.

9 F or we rejoice when we may be weak and ye may be powerful. But this also we pray for, your perfecting.

Ми тішимося, коли ми слабі, а ви сильні. Про це й молимось щоб були досконалими ви!

10 O n this account I write these things being absent, that being present I may not use severity according to the authority which the Lord has given me for building up, and not for overthrowing.

Ось тому то, відсутній, пишу це, щоб прийшовши, не мав я вчинити суворо за владою, якої Господь мені дав на будування, а не на руйнування.

11 F or the rest, brethren, rejoice; be perfected; be encouraged; be of one mind; be at peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

А накінець, браття, радійте, удосконалюйтесь, тіштеся, будьте однодумні, майте мир, і Бог любови та миру буде з вами!

12 S alute one another with a holy kiss.

Вітайте один одного святим поцілунком!

13 A ll the saints salute you.

(13-12) Усі святі вас вітають!

14 T he grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, with you all.

(13-13) Благодать Господа нашого Ісуса Христа, і любов Бога й Отця, і причастя Святого Духа нехай буде зо всіма вами! Амінь.
