1 A nd it came to pass after these things, the cup-bearer of the king of Egypt and the baker offended their lord the king of Egypt.

І сталося по тих пригодах, чашник єгипетського царя та пекар провинилися були панові своєму, цареві єгипетському.

2 A nd Pharaoh was wroth with his two chamberlains—with the chief of the cup-bearers and with the chief of the bakers;

І розгнівався фараон на двох своїх евнухів, на начальника чашників і на начальника пекарів.

3 a nd he put them in custody into the house of the captain of the life-guard, into the tower-house, into the place where Joseph was imprisoned.

І віддав їх під варту до дому начальника царської сторожі до в'язничного дому, до місця, де Йосип був ув'язнений.

4 A nd the captain of the life-guard appointed Joseph to them, that he should attend on them. And they were days in custody.

А начальник царської сторожі приставив Йосипа до них, і він їм услуговував. І були вони деякий час під вартою.

5 A nd they dreamed a dream, both of them in one night, each his dream, each according to the interpretation of his dream, the cup-bearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were imprisoned in the tower-house.

І снився їм обом сон, кожному свій сон, однієї ночі, кожному за значенням його сна, чашникові й пекареві царя єгипетського, що були ув'язнені у в'язничному домі.

6 A nd Joseph came in to them in the morning, and looked on them, and behold, they were sad.

І прибув до них Йосип уранці, і побачив їх, а вони ось сумні.

7 A nd he asked Pharaoh's chamberlains that were with him in custody in his lord's house, saying, Why are your faces sad to-day?

І запитав він фараонових евнухів, що були з ним під вартою в домі пана його, говорячи: Чого ваші обличчя сьогодні сумні?

8 A nd they said to him, We have dreamt a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said to them, not interpretations to God? tell me, I pray you.

А вони сказали йому: Снився нам сон, а відгадати його немає кому. І сказав до них Йосип: Чи ж не в Бога відгадки? Розповіджте но мені.

9 T hen the chief of the cup-bearers told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine was before me;

І оповів начальник чашників Йосипові свій сон, і сказав йому: Бачив я в сні своїм, ось виноградний кущ передо мною.

10 a nd in the vine were three branches; and it was as though it budded: its blossoms shot forth, its clusters ripened into grapes.

А в виноградному кущі три виноградні галузки, а він сам ніби розцвів, пустив цвіт, і дозріли грона його ягід.

11 A nd Pharaoh's cup was in my hand; and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.

А в моїй руці фараонова чаша. І взяв я ті ягоди, і вичавив їх до фараонової чаші, і дав ту чашу в руку фараона.

12 A nd Joseph said to him, This is the interpretation of it: the three branches are three days.

І сказав йому Йосип: Оце відгадка його: три виноградні галузки це три дні.

13 I n yet three days will Pharaoh lift up thy head and restore thee to thy place, and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his cup-bearer.

Ще за три дні підійме фараон твою голову, і верне тебе на твоє становище, і ти даси чашу фараона до руки його за першим звичаєм, як був ти чашником його.

14 O nly bear a remembrance with thee of me when it goes well with thee, and deal kindly, I pray thee, with me, and make mention of me to Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house;

Коли ти згадаєш собі про мене, як буде тобі добре, то вчиниш милість мені, коли згадаєш про мене перед фараоном, і випровадиш мене з цього дому.

15 f or indeed I was stolen out of the land of the Hebrews, and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.

Бо я був справді вкрадений із Краю єврейського, а також тут я не вчинив нічого, щоб мене вкинути до цієї ями.

16 A nd when the chief of the bakers saw that the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, I also was in my dream, and behold, three baskets of white bread were on my head.

І побачив начальник пекарів, що він добре відгадав, і промовив до Йосипа: І я в сні своїм бачив, ось три коші печива на голові моїй.

17 A nd in the uppermost basket there were all manner of victuals for Pharaoh that the baker makes, and the birds ate them out of the basket upon my head.

А в коші горішньому зо всякого пекарського виробу фараонове їдження, а птах їв його з коша з-над моєї голови.

18 A nd Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation of it: the three baskets are three days.

І відповів Йосип і сказав: Оце відгадка його: три коші то три дні.

19 I n yet three days will Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and hang thee on a tree; and the birds will eat thy flesh from off thee.

Ще за три дні підійме фараон голову твою з тебе, і повісить тебе на дереві, і птах поїсть тіло твоє з тебе.

20 A nd it came to pass the third day—Pharaoh's birthday—that he made a feast to all his bondmen. And he lifted up the head of the chief of the cup-bearers, and the head of the chief of the bakers among his bondmen.

І сталося третього дня, у день народження фараона, і вчинив він гостину для всіх своїх рабів. І підняв він голову начальника чашників і голову начальника пекарів серед своїх рабів.

21 A nd he restored the chief of the cup-bearers to his office of cup-bearer again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.

І вернув він начальника чашників на його місце, і він подав чашу в руку фараонову.

22 A nd he hanged the chief of the bakers, as Joseph had interpreted to them.

А начальника пекарів повісив, як відгадав був їм Йосип.

23 B ut the chief of the cup-bearers did not remember Joseph, and forgot him.

Та начальник чашників не пам'ятав про Йосипа, та й забув за нього.
