1 H ear this word that Jehovah hath spoken against you, children of Israel, against the whole family that I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,

Послухайте слова того, що Господь говорив проти вас, синове Ізраїлеві, на ввесь оцей рід, що його Я підніс був із краю єгипетського, промовляючи:

2 Y ou only have I known of all the families of the earth; therefore will I visit upon you all your iniquities.

Тільки вас Я пізнав зо всіх родів землі, тому вас навіщу за всі ваші провини!

3 S hall two walk together except they be agreed?

Чи йдуть двоє разом, якщо не умовились?

4 W ill a lion roar in the forest when he hath no prey? Will a young lion cry out of his den if he have taken nothing?

Чи реве в лісі лев, як нема йому здобичі? Чи левчук видає голос свій із своєї нори, якщо він не зловив?

5 C an a bird fall in a snare upon the earth when no gin for him? Will the snare spring up from the earth when nothing at all hath been taken?

Чи впаде на землі пташка в сітку, як немає сільця? Чи підійметься сітка з землі, як нічого не зловить?

6 S hall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? Shall there be evil in a city, and Jehovah not have done ?

Чи в місті засурмлять у сурму, а народ не тремтітиме? Чи станеться в місті нещастя, що його не Господь допустив?

7 B ut the Lord Jehovah will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

Бо не чинить нічого Господь Бог, не виявивши таємниці Своєї Своїм рабам пророкам.

8 T he lion hath roared,—who will not fear? The Lord Jehovah hath spoken,—who can but prophesy?

Лев зареве, хто того не злякається? Господь Бог заговорить, хто пророкувати не буде?

9 P ublish in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great uproar in the midst thereof, and the oppressions that are within her:

Розголосіть над палацами в Ашдоді, і над палатами в краї єгипетському, та й скажіть: Позбирайтеся на горах Самарії, і побачте велике збентеження в ній, та утиск у ній!

10 a nd they know not to do right, saith Jehovah, who store up violence and plunder in their palaces.

І правдиво не вміють робити вони, говорить Господь, насильство громадять та грабунок в палатах своїх.

11 T herefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: An adversary!—even round about the land! And he shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be pillaged.

Тому так Господь Бог промовляє: Ворог обляже навколо цієї землі, і скине із тебе він силу твою, і пограбовані будуть палати твої.

12 T hus saith Jehovah: Like as the shepherd rescueth out of the jaw of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear; so shall the children of Israel be rescued that sit in Samaria in the corner of a couch, and upon the damask of a bed.

Так говорить Господь: Як часом рятує пастух з пащі лев'ячої дві коліні, або пипку вуха, так будуть врятовані діти Ізраїлеві, що сидять в Самарії в закуточку ліжка, та на адамашку постелі.

13 H ear ye, and testify in the house of Jacob, saith the Lord Jehovah, the God of hosts,

Послухайте ви та й засвідчіть ув Якововім домі, говорить Господь Бог, Бог Саваот.

14 t hat in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him, I will also punish the altars of Bethel; and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.

Бо в той день, коли Я покараю Ізраїля за провини його, то Я покараю за жертівники Бет-Елу, і будуть відрубані роги жертівника, і на землю попадають.

15 A nd I will smite the winter-house with the summer-house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and many houses shall have an end, saith Jehovah.

І Я розіб'ю дім зимовий разом з домом літнім, і загинуть доми із слонової кости, і не стане багато домів, говорить Господь.
