Підійміте прапора на лисую гору, кличте їх голосніш, помахайте рукою, щоб ішли у ворота!

3 I have commanded my hallowed ones, I have also called my mighty men for mine anger, them that rejoice in my highness.

Я звелів був Своїм посвяченим, теж покликав лицарство Своє на Мій гнів, що зухвало радіють.

4 T he noise of a multitude on the mountains, as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations assembled together: Jehovah of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.

Чути гамір у горах, як народу численного, чути гомін згромаджених тут царств народів: це переглядає Господь Саваот бойове Своє військо!

5 T hey come from a far country, from the end of the heavens—Jehovah, and the weapons of his indignation—to destroy the whole land.

Приходять з далекого краю, із кінців небес, Господь і знаряддя гніву Його, щоб усю землю понищити!

6 H owl, for the day of Jehovah is at hand; it cometh as destruction from the Almighty.

Голосіть, бо близький день Господній, він від Всемогутнього прийде, немов зруйнування...

7 T herefore shall all hands be feeble, and every heart of man shall melt,

Тому то ослабнуть всі руки, і кожне серце людини зневіриться.

8 a nd they shall be terrified: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them, they shall writhe as a woman that travaileth; they shall be amazed one at another, their faces shall be as flames.

І вони налякаються, болі та муки їх схоплять, немов породілля та, будуть тремтіти... Остовпіють один перед одним, полум'яні обличчя то їхні обличчя...

9 B ehold, the day of Jehovah cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the earth desolate; and he will destroy the sinners thereof out of it.

Оце день Господній приходить, суворий, і лютість, і полум'я гніву, щоб землю зробити спустошенням, а грішних її повигублювати з неї!

10 F or the stars of the heavens and the constellations thereof shall not give their light; the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

Бо зорі небесні та їхні сузір'я не дадуть свого світла, сонце затьмиться при сході своєму, а місяць не буде вже сяяти світлом своїм...

11 A nd I will punish the world for evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will make the arrogance of the proud to cease, and will bring low the haughtiness of the violent.

І Я покараю всесвіт за зло, а безбожних за їхню провину, бундючність злочинця спиню, а гордість насильників знижу!

12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold, even man than the gold of Ophir.

Я зроблю людину дорожчою від щирого золота, і смертну людину від офірського золота.

13 T herefore I will make the heavens to shake, and the earth shall be removed out of her place, at the wrath of Jehovah of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

Тому небеса захитаю, і рухнеться земля з свого місця від лютости Господа Саваота, у День, як палатиме гнів Його...

14 A nd it shall be as with a chased roe, and as with a flock that no man gathereth together; every one shall turn to his own people, and every one flee into his own land.

І буде народ, як та сарна сполошена чи як отара, якої зібрати немає кому... До народу свого кожен звернеться, і кожен до краю свого втікатиме.

15 A ll that are found shall be thrust through; and every one that is in league shall fall by the sword.

Кожен знайдений буде заколеним, і кожен узятий впаде від меча...

16 A nd their infants shall be dashed in pieces before their eyes, their houses shall be rifled, and their women ravished.

А їхні діти на їхніх очах порозбивані будуть, їхні доми пограбовані будуть, а їхніх жінок побезчестять!

17 B ehold, I will stir up the Medes against them, who do not regard silver, and as for gold, they have no delight in it.

Оце Я збуджу на них мідян, що срібла не лічать, а золото не чують бажання до нього,

18 A nd bows shall dash the young men to pieces, and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb: their eye shall not spare children.

і будуть вбивати юнаків їхні луки, і над плодом утроби вони милосердя не матимуть, їхнє око над дітьми не матиме милости...

19 A nd Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldeans' pride, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

І стане тоді Вавилон, краса царств, пишнота халдейської гордости, таким, як Бог зруйнував був Содом та Гоморру!

20 I t shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in, even to generation and generation; nor shall Arabian pitch tent there, nor shepherds make fold there.

Не буде назавжди заселений він, нізамешкалий з роду в рід, і араб там не стане наметом, і там пастухи не спочинуть з своєю отарою...

21 B ut beasts of the desert shall lie there, and their houses shall be full of owls; and ostriches shall dwell there, and wild goats shall dance there.

Але будуть барложити там звірі пустині, і будуть доми їхні совами повні, і там пробуватимуть струсі, і волохаті демони там танцюватимуть...

22 A nd jackals shall cry to one another in their palaces, and wild dogs in the pleasant castles. And her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.

І завиють шакали в порожніх хоромах його, а гієни в веселих палацах! І близьке вже наступлення часу його, і не забаряться ці його дні!
