1 T he fool hath said in his heart, There is no God! They have corrupted themselves, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.

Для дириґетна хору. На „Махалат". Навчальний псалом. Давидів. (53-2) Безумний говорить у серці своїм: Нема Бога! Зіпсулись вони, і несправедливість обридливу чинять, нема доброчинця!...

2 G od looked down from the heavens upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.

(53-3) Бог зорить із неба на людських синів, щоб побачити, чи є там розумний, що Бога шукає.

3 E very one of them is gone back, they are together become corrupt: there is none that doeth good, not even one.

(53-4) Усі повідступали, разом стали огидними, нема доброчинця, нема ні одного!...

4 H ave the workers of iniquity no knowledge, eating up my people they eat bread? they call not upon God.

(53-5) Чи ж не розуміють оті, хто беззаконня вчиняє, що мій люд поїдають? Вони споживають хліб Божий, та не кличуть Його!

5 T here were they in great fear, where no fear was; for God scattereth the bones of him that encampeth against thee. Thou hast put to shame, for God hath despised them.

(53-6) Тоді настрашилися страхом вони, хоч страху не було, бо розсипав Бог кості того, хто тебе оточив був, ти їх посоромив, бо ними погордував Бог!

6 O h that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God turneth again the captivity of his people, Jacob shall be glad, Israel shall rejoice.

(53-7) Аби то Він дав із Сіону спасіння ізраїлеві! Як долю Свого народу поверне Господь, то радітиме Яків, утішатися буде ізраїль!
