2 e lect according to foreknowledge of God Father, by sanctification of Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.

із передбачення Бога Отця, посвяченням Духа, на покору й окроплення кров'ю Ісуса Христа: нехай примножиться вам благодать та мир!

3 B lessed the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to his great mercy, has begotten us again to a living hope through resurrection of Jesus Christ from among dead,

Благословенний Бог і Отець Господа нашого Ісуса Христа, що великою Своєю милістю відродив нас до живої надії через воскресення з мертвих Ісуса Христа,

4 t o an incorruptible and undefiled and unfading inheritance, reserved in heavens for you,

на спадщину нетлінну й непорочну та нев'янучу, заховану в небі для вас,

5 w ho are kept guarded by power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in last time.

що ви бережені силою Божою через віру на спасіння, яке готове з'явитися останнього часу.

6 W herein ye exult, for a little while at present, if needed, put to grief by various trials,

Тіштеся з того, засмучені трохи тепер, якщо треба, всілякими випробовуваннями,

7 t hat the proving of your faith, much more precious than of gold which perishes, though it be proved by fire, be found to praise and glory and honour in revelation of Jesus Christ:

щоб досвідчення вашої віри було дорогоцінніше за золото, яке гине, хоч і огнем випробовується, на похвалу, і честь, і славу при з'явленні Ісуса Христа.

8 w hom, having not seen, ye love; on whom not now looking, but believing, ye exult with joy unspeakable and filled with glory,

Ви Його любите, не бачивши, і віруєте в Нього, хоч тепер не бачите, а вірувавши, радієте невимовною й славною радістю,

9 r eceiving the end of your faith, salvation of souls.

бо досягаєте мети віри вашої спасіння душам.

10 C oncerning which salvation prophets, who have prophesied of the grace towards you, sought out and searched out;

Про це спасіння розвідували та допитувалися пророки, що звіщали про благодать, призначену вам.

11 s earching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ which in them pointed out, testifying before of the sufferings which to Christ, and the glories after these.

Вони досліджували, на котрий чи на який час показував Дух Христів, що в них був, коли Він сповіщав про Христові страждання та славу, що прийдуть по них.

12 T o whom it was revealed, that not to themselves but to you they ministered those things, which have now been announced to you by those who have declared to you the glad tidings by Holy Spirit, sent from heaven, which angels desire to look into.

Їм відкрито було, що вони не для себе самих, а для вас служили тим, що тепер звіщено вам через благовісників Духом Святим, із неба посланим, на що бажають дивитися Анголи.

13 W herefore, having girded up the loins of your mind, sober hope with perfect stedfastness in the grace brought to you at revelation of Jesus Christ;

Тому то, підперезавши стегна свого розуму та бувши тверезі, майте досконалу надію на благодать, що приноситься вам в з'явленні Ісуса Христа.

14 a s children of obedience, not conformed to former lusts in your ignorance;

Як слухняні, не застосовуйтеся до попередніх пожадливостей вашого невідання,

15 b ut as he who has called you is holy, be ye also holy in all conversation;

але за Святим, що покликав вас, будьте й самі святі в усім вашім поводженні,

16 b ecause it is written, Be ye holy, for I am holy.

бо написано: Будьте святі, Я бо святий!

17 A nd if ye invoke as Father him who, without regard of persons, judges according to the work of each, pass your time of sojourn in fear,

І коли ви Отцем звете Того, Хто кожного, не зважаючи на особу, судить за вчинок, то в страху провадьте час вашого тимчасового замешкання.

18 k nowing that ye have been redeemed, not by corruptible silver or gold, from your vain conversation handed down from fathers,

І знайте, що не тлінним сріблом або золотом відкуплені ви були від марного вашого життя, що передане вам від батьків,

19 b ut by precious blood, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot, of Christ,

але дорогоцінною кров'ю Христа, як непорочного й чистого Ягняти,

20 f oreknown indeed before foundation of world, but who has been manifested at the end of times for your sakes,

що призначений був іще перед закладинами світу, але був з'явлений вам за останнього часу.

21 w ho by him do believe on God, who has raised him from among dead and given him glory, that your faith and hope should be in God.

Через Нього ви віруєте в Бога, що з мертвих Його воскресив та дав славу Йому, щоб була ваша віра й надія на Бога.

22 H aving purified your souls by obedience to the truth to unfeigned brotherly love, love one another out of a pure heart fervently;

Послухом правді очистьте душі свої через Духа на нелицемірну братерську любов, і ревно від щирого серця любіть один одного,

23 b eing born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by living and abiding word of God.

бо народжені ви не з тлінного насіння, але з нетлінного, Словом Божим живим та тривалим.

24 B ecause all flesh as grass, and all its glory as flower of grass. The grass has withered and flower has fallen;

Бо кожне тіло немов та трава, і всяка слава людини як цвіт трав'яний: засохне трава то й цвіт опаде,

25 b ut the word of Lord abides for eternity. But this is the word which in the glad tidings preached to you.

а Слово Господнє повік пробуває! А це те Слово, яке звіщене вам в Євангелії.
