1 T his third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every matter be established.

Ésta es la tercera vez que voy a vosotros. Por boca de dos o de tres testigos se decidirá todo asunto.

2 I have declared beforehand, and I say beforehand as present the second time, and now absent, to those that have sinned before, and to all the rest, that if I come again I will not spare.

He dicho antes, y ahora digo otra vez como si estuviera presente, y ahora, que estoy ausente, lo escribo a los que antes pecaron, y a todos los demás, que si voy otra vez, no seré indulgente.

3 S ince ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, (who is not weak towards you, but is powerful among you,

Así tendréis una prueba de que habla Cristo en mí, y él no es débil para con vosotros, sino que es poderoso en vosotros.

4 f or if indeed he has been crucified in weakness, yet he lives by God's power; for indeed we are weak in him, but we shall live with him by God's power towards you,)

Aunque fue crucificado en debilidad, vive por el poder de Dios. Y también nosotros somos débiles en él, pero viviremos con él por el poder de Dios para con vosotros.

5 e xamine your own selves if ye be in the faith; prove your own selves: do ye not recognise yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you, unless indeed ye be reprobates?

Examinaos a vosotros mismos, para ver si estáis en la fe; probaos a vosotros mismos. ¿O no os conocéis a vosotros mismos? ¿No sabéis que Jesucristo está en vosotros? ¡A menos que estéis reprobados!

6 N ow I hope that ye will know that we are not reprobates.

Espero que sabréis que nosotros no estamos reprobados.

7 B ut we pray to God that ye may do nothing evil; not that we may appear approved, but that ye may do what is right, and we be as reprobates.

Y oramos a Dios que ninguna cosa mala hagáis; no para que nosotros aparezcamos aprobados, sino para que vosotros hagáis lo bueno, aunque nosotros seamos como reprobados,

8 F or we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.

porque nada podemos contra la verdad, sino a favor de la verdad.

9 F or we rejoice when we may be weak and ye may be powerful. But this also we pray for, your perfecting.

Por lo cual nos gozamos de que seamos nosotros débiles, y que vosotros estéis fuertes; y aun oramos por vuestra perfección.

10 O n this account I write these things being absent, that being present I may not use severity according to the authority which the Lord has given me for building up, and not for overthrowing.

Por esto os escribo estando ausente, para no usar de severidad cuando esté presente, conforme a la autoridad que el Señor me ha dado para edificación, y no para destrucción. Saludos y doxología final

11 F or the rest, brethren, rejoice; be perfected; be encouraged; be of one mind; be at peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

Por lo demás, hermanos, tened gozo, perfeccionaos, consolaos, sed de un mismo sentir y vivid en paz; y el Dios de paz y de amor estará con vosotros.

12 S alute one another with a holy kiss.

Saludaos unos a otros con beso santo.

13 A ll the saints salute you.

Todos los santos os saludan.

14 T he grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, with you all.
