1 A nd the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

2 S on of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations,

«Hijo de hombre, da a conocer a Jerusalén sus abominaciones,

3 a nd say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah unto Jerusalem: Thy birth and thy nativity is of the land of the Canaanite: thy father was an Amorite, and thy mother a Hittite.

y dile: “Así ha dicho Jehová el Señor sobre Jerusalén: Tu origen, tu nacimiento, es de la tierra de Canaán; tu padre fue un amorreo y tu madre una hetea.

4 A nd as for thy nativity, in the day thou wast born thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water for cleansing; thou wast not rubbed with salt at all, nor swaddled at all.

Y en cuanto a tu nacimiento, el día que naciste no fue cortado tu cordón umbilical, ni fuiste lavada con aguas para limpiarte ni frotada con sal, ni fuiste envuelta en pañales.

5 N o eye pitied thee, to do any of these unto thee, to have compassion upon thee; but thou wast cast out in the open field, from abhorrence of thy person, in the day that thou wast born.

No hubo ojo que se compadeciera de ti para hacerte algo de eso, sintiendo lástima por ti; sino que fuiste arrojada sobre la faz del campo, con menosprecio de tu vida, en el día que naciste.

6 A nd I passed by thee, and saw thee weltering in thy blood, and I said unto thee, in thy blood, Live! yea, I said unto thee, in thy blood, Live!

»”Yo pasé junto a ti y te vi sucia en tus sangres. Y cuando estabas en tus sangres te dije: ‘¡Vive!’ Sí, te dije, cuando estabas en tus sangres: ‘¡Vive!’

7 I caused thee to multiply, as the bud of the field; and thou didst increase and grow great, and thou camest to fulness of beauty; breasts were fashioned, and thy hair grew: but thou wast naked and bare.

Te hice crecer como la hierba del campo; creciste, te hiciste grande y llegaste a ser muy hermosa. Tus pechos se habían formado y tu pelo había crecido, ¡pero estabas desnuda por completo!

8 A nd I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, and behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness; and I swore unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord Jehovah, and thou becamest mine.

»”Pasé otra vez junto a ti y te miré, y he aquí que tu tiempo era tiempo de amores. Entonces extendí mi manto sobre ti y cubrí tu desnudez; te hice juramento y entré en pacto contigo, dice Jehová, el Señor, y fuiste mía.

9 A nd I washed thee with water, and thoroughly washed away thy blood from thee, and I anointed thee with oil;

Te lavé con agua, lavé tus sangres de encima de ti y te ungí con aceite.

10 a nd I clothed thee with embroidered work, and shod thee with badgers' skin, and I bound thee about with byssus, and covered thee with silk.

Luego te puse un vestido bordado, te calcé de tejón, te ceñí de lino y te cubrí de seda.

11 A nd I decked thee with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy hands, and a chain on thy neck;

Te atavié con adornos, puse brazaletes en tus brazos y un collar en tu cuello.

12 a nd I put a ring on thy nose, and earrings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thy head.

Puse joyas en tu nariz, zarcillos en tus orejas y una hermosa corona en tu cabeza.

13 T hus wast thou decked with gold and silver, and thy raiment was byssus, and silk, and embroidered work. Thou didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil; and thou becamest exceedingly beautiful, and thou didst prosper into a kingdom.

Así fuiste adornada de oro y de plata, y tu vestido bordado era de lino fino y seda. Comiste flor de harina de trigo, miel y aceite. Fuiste embellecida en extremo y prosperaste hasta llegar a reinar.

14 A nd thy fame went forth among the nations for thy beauty; for it was perfect through my magnificence, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord Jehovah.

Tu fama se difundió entre las naciones a causa de tu belleza, que era perfecta por el esplendor que yo puse sobre ti, dice Jehová, el Señor.

15 B ut thou didst confide in thy beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy whoredoms on every one that passed by: his it was.

»”Pero confiaste en tu belleza, te prostituiste a causa de tu fama y derramaste tu lujuria sobre cuantos pasaban. ¡Suya fuiste!

16 A nd of thy garments thou didst take, and madest for thyself high places decked with divers colours, and didst play the harlot thereupon: hath not come to pass, and shall be no more.

Tomaste de tus vestidos, te hiciste diversos lugares altos y fornicaste sobre ellos. ¡Cosa semejante nunca había sucedido ni volverá a suceder!

17 A nd thou didst take thy fair jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given thee, and madest to thyself images of males, and didst commit fornication with them.

Tomaste asimismo tus hermosas alhajas de oro y de plata, que yo te había dado, te hiciste imágenes de hombre y fornicaste con ellas.

18 A nd thou tookest thine embroidered garments, and coveredst them; and thou didst set mine oil and mine incense before them.

Tomaste tus vestidos de diversos colores y las cubriste, y mi aceite y mi incienso pusiste delante de ellas.

19 A nd my bread which I had given thee, the fine flour and the oil and the honey wherewith I fed thee, thou didst even set it before them for a sweet savour: thus it was, saith the Lord Jehovah.

Mi pan también, que yo te había dado, la flor de harina, el aceite y la miel, con lo que yo te mantuve, lo pusiste delante de ellas para olor agradable; y fue así, dice Jehová, el Señor.

20 A nd thou didst take thy sons and thy daughters, whom thou hadst borne unto me, and these didst thou sacrifice unto them, to be devoured. Were thy whoredoms a small matter,

Además de esto, tomaste tus hijos y tus hijas que habías dado a luz para mí, y los sacrificaste a ellas para que fueran consumidos. ¿Eran poca cosa tus fornicaciones,

21 t hat thou didst slay my children and give them up in passing them over to them?

que degollaste también a mis hijos y los ofreciste a aquellas imágenes como ofrenda que el fuego consumía?

22 A nd in all thine abominations and thy whoredoms thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, when thou wast naked and bare, when thou wast weltering in thy blood.

Y con todas tus abominaciones y tus fornicaciones no te has acordado de los días de tu juventud, cuando estabas desnuda por completo, cuando estabas envuelta en tu sangre.

23 A nd it came to pass after all thy wickedness (woe, woe unto thee! saith the Lord Jehovah),

»”Y sucedió que después de toda tu maldad (¡ay, ay de ti!, dice Jehová, el Señor),

24 t hat thou didst also build unto thee a place of debauchery, and didst make thee a high place in every street:

te edificaste lugares altos y te hiciste altar en todas las plazas.

25 t hou didst build thy high place at every head of the way, and madest thy beauty to be abhorred, and thou didst open thy feet to every one that passed by, and multiply thy whoredom.

En cada cabecera de camino edificaste un lugar alto e hiciste abominable tu hermosura: te ofreciste a cuantos pasaban y multiplicaste tus fornicaciones.

26 A nd thou didst commit fornication with the Egyptians thy neighbours, great of flesh; and didst multiply thy whoredom to provoke me to anger.

Fornicaste con los hijos de Egipto, tus vecinos, robustos de cuerpo; y aumentaste tus fornicaciones para enojarme.

27 A nd behold, I stretched out my hand over thee, and diminished thine appointed portion; and I gave thee over unto the will of them that hate thee, the daughters of the Philistines, who were confounded at thy lewd way.

Por tanto, he aquí que yo extendí contra ti mi mano y disminuí tu provisión ordinaria. Te entregué a la voluntad de las hijas de los filisteos, que te aborrecen y se avergüenzan de tu conducta indecente.

28 A nd thou didst commit fornication with the Assyrians, because thou wast insatiable; yea, thou didst commit fornication with them, and yet couldest not be satisfied.

Fornicaste también con los asirios, por no haberte saciado; fornicaste con ellos y tampoco te saciaste.

29 A nd thou didst multiply thy whoredom with the land of merchants, Chaldea, and yet thou wast not satisfied herewith.

Multiplicaste asimismo tu fornicación en la tierra de Canaán y de los caldeos, y tampoco con esto te saciaste.

30 H ow weak is thy heart, saith the Lord Jehovah, seeing thou doest all these, the work of a whorish woman, under no restraint;

»”¡Cuán inconstante es tu corazón, dice Jehová, el Señor, habiendo hecho todas estas cosas, obras de una prostituta desvergonzada,

31 i n that thou buildest thy place of debauchery at the head of every way, and makest thy high place in every street! And thou hast not been as a harlot, in that thou scornest reward,

edificando tus lugares altos en cada cabecera de camino y levantando tus altares en todas las plazas! Pero no fuiste semejante a una prostituta en que menospreciaste la paga.

32 O adulterous wife, that taketh strangers instead of her husband.

Fuiste como la mujer adúltera que en lugar de su marido recibe a extraños.

33 T hey give rewards to all harlots; but thou gavest thy rewards to all thy lovers, and rewardedst them, that they might come unto thee on every side for thy whoredoms.

A todas las prostitutas les dan regalos; pero tú diste tus regalos a todos tus amantes. Les diste presentes, para que de todas partes vinieran a ti en tus fornicaciones.

34 A nd in thee is the contrary from women, in thy whoredoms, in that none followeth thee to commit fornication; and whereas thou givest a reward, and no reward is given unto thee, so art thou contrary.

Y ha sucedido contigo, en tus fornicaciones, lo contrario de las demás mujeres: porque ninguno te ha solicitado para fornicar, y tú das la paga, en lugar de recibirla; por eso has sido diferente.

35 T herefore, O harlot, hear the word of Jehovah.

»”Por tanto, prostituta, oye palabra de Jehová.

36 T hus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because thy money hath been poured out, and thy nakedness discovered through thy fornications with thy lovers, and with all the idols of thine abominations, and because of the blood of thy children which thou didst give unto them;

Así dice Jehová, el Señor: Por cuanto han sido descubiertas tus desnudeces en tus fornicaciones, y tu vergüenza ha sido manifestada a tus amantes y a los ídolos de tus abominaciones, y en la sangre de tus hijos, los cuales les diste,

37 t herefore, behold, I will gather all thy lovers with whom thou hast taken pleasure, and all that thou hast loved, with all that thou hast hated,—I will even gather them round about against thee, and will discover thy nakedness unto them, that they may see all thy nakedness.

por eso, yo reuniré a todos tus amantes con los cuales tuviste placer, y a todos los que amaste, y también a todos los que aborreciste. Los reuniré alrededor de ti, y delante de ellos descubriré tu desnudez, y ellos verán toda tu desnudez.

38 A nd I will judge thee with the judgments of women that commit adultery and shed blood; and I will give thee up to the blood of fury and jealousy;

Yo te juzgaré por las leyes de las adúlteras y de las que derraman sangre, y traeré sobre ti sangre de ira y de celos.

39 a nd I will give thee into their hand, and they shall throw down thy place of debauchery, and shall break down thy high places; and they shall strip thee of thy garments, and shall take thy fair jewels, and leave thee naked and bare.

Te entregaré en manos de ellos, y ellos destruirán tus lugares altos y derribarán tus altares. Te despojarán de tus ropas, se llevarán tus hermosas alhajas y te dejarán desnuda por completo.

40 A nd they shall bring up an assemblage against thee, and they shall stone thee with stones, and thrust thee through with their swords.

Harán subir contra ti una muchedumbre de gente, que te apedreará y te atravesará con sus espadas.

41 A nd they shall burn thy houses with fire, and execute judgments upon thee in the sight of many women; and I will cause thee to cease from being a harlot, and thou also shalt give no more any reward.

Incendiarán tus casas, y harán en ti juicios en presencia de muchas mujeres. Así haré que dejes de ser una prostituta y que ceses de prodigar tus favores.

42 A nd I will appease my fury against thee, and my jealousy shall depart from thee; and I will be quiet, and will be no more angry.

Así saciaré mi ira sobre ti, se apartará de ti mi celo y descansaré para no volver a enojarme.

43 B ecause thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, but hast raged against me in all these, behold, therefore, I also will recompense thy way upon head, saith the Lord Jehovah, and thou shalt not commit this lewdness besides all thine abominations.

Por cuanto no te acordaste de los días de tu juventud y me provocaste a ira en todo esto, por eso, yo también traeré tu conducta sobre tu propia cabeza, dice Jehová, el Señor; pues ni aun has pensado sobre toda tu lujuria.

44 B ehold, every one that useth proverbs shall speak in a proverb against thee, saying, As the mother, her daughter!

»”He aquí, todo el que usa de refranes te aplicará a ti el refrán que dice: ‘Cual la madre, tal la hija.’

45 T hou art the daughter of thy mother that loathed her husband and her children; and thou art the sister of thy sisters, who loathed their husbands and their children. Your mother was a Hittite, and your father an Amorite.

Hija eres tú de tu madre, que desechó a su marido y a sus hijos; y hermana eres de tus hermanas, que desecharon a sus maridos y a sus hijos; vuestra madre fue una hetea y vuestro padre un amorreo.

46 A nd thine elder sister is Samaria that dwelleth at thy left hand, she and her daughters; and thy younger sister, that dwelleth at thy right hand, is Sodom and her daughters.

Tu hermana mayor es Samaria, ella y sus hijas, que habitan al norte de ti; y tu hermana menor es Sodoma con sus hijas, la cual habita al sur de ti.

47 A nd thou hast not walked in their ways, nor done according to their abominations; but as though that were a very little, thou hast been more corrupt than they in all thy ways.

Ni aun anduviste en sus caminos ni hiciste según sus abominaciones; antes, como si esto fuera poco, y muy poco, te corrompiste más que ellas en todos tus caminos.

48 I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters!

Vivo yo, dice Jehová, el Señor, que tu hermana Sodoma y sus hijas no han hecho como hiciste tú y tus hijas.

49 B ehold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom: pride, fulness of bread, and careless ease was in her and in her daughters, but she did not strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.

Ésta fue la maldad de Sodoma, tu hermana: soberbia, pan de sobra y abundancia de ocio tuvieron ella y sus hijas; y no fortaleció la mano del afligido y del necesitado.

50 A nd they were haughty, and committed abomination before me, and I took them away when I saw.

Se llenaron de soberbia e hicieron abominación delante de mí, y cuando lo vi, las quité.

51 A nd Samaria hath not sinned according to the half of thy sins; but thou hast multiplied thine abominations more than they, and hast justified thy sisters by all thine abominations which thou hast done.

Sin embargo, Samaria no cometió ni la mitad de tus pecados; porque tú multiplicaste tus abominaciones más que ellas, y has justificado a tus hermanas con todas las abominaciones que hiciste.

52 T hou also, who hast judged thy sisters, bear thine own confusion, because of thy sins in which thou hast acted more abominably than they: they are more righteous than thou. So be thou ashamed also, and bear thy confusion, in that thou hast justified thy sisters.

Tú también, que juzgaste a tus hermanas, lleva tu vergüenza en los pecados que cometiste, más abominables que los de ellas. ¡Más justas son que tú! Avergüénzate, pues, tú también, y carga con tu ignominia, por cuanto has justificado a tus hermanas.

53 A nd I will bring again their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters, and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, and the captivity of thy captives in the midst of them;

»”Yo, pues, haré volver a sus cautivos, los cautivos de Sodoma y de sus hijas, y los cautivos de Samaria y de sus hijas, y haré volver los cautivos de tus cautiverios entre ellas,

54 t hat thou mayest bear thy confusion, and mayest be confounded for all that thou hast done, in that thou comfortest them.

para que cargues con tu ignominia y te avergüences de todo lo que has hecho, siendo tú motivo de consuelo para ellas.

55 A nd thy sisters, Sodom and her daughters, shall return to their former estate, and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their former estate; thou also and thy daughters, ye shall return to your former estate.

Tus hermanas: Sodoma con sus hijas y Samaria con sus hijas, volverán a su primer estado. También tú y tus hijas volveréis a vuestro primer estado.

56 Y ea, Sodom thy sister was not mentioned by thy mouth in the day of thy pride,

Tu hermana Sodoma no era digna de mención en tu boca en el tiempo de tus soberbias,

57 b efore thy wickedness was discovered, as at the time of the reproach of the daughters of Syria, and of all that are round about her, the daughters of the Philistines, who despise thee on every side.

antes que tu maldad fuera descubierta. Así también, ahora llevas tú la afrenta de las hijas de Siria y de todas las hijas de los filisteos, las cuales por todos lados te desprecian.

58 T hy lewdness and thine abominations, thou bearest them, saith Jehovah.

Sufre tú el castigo de tu lujuria y de tus abominaciones, dice Jehová.

59 F or thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will even deal with thee as thou hast done, who hast despised the oath, and broken the covenant.

»”Pero aún más ha dicho Jehová, el Señor: Yo no haré contigo como tú hiciste, que menospreciaste el juramento para invalidar el pacto.

60 N evertheless I will remember my covenant with thee in the days of thy youth, and I will establish unto thee an everlasting covenant.

Antes bien, yo tendré memoria de mi pacto que concerté contigo en los días de tu juventud, y estableceré contigo un pacto eterno.

61 A nd thou shalt remember thy ways, and be confounded, when thou shalt receive thy sisters who are older than thou, together with those who are younger than thou; for I will give them unto thee for daughters, but not by virtue of thy covenant.

Te acordarás de tu conducta, y te avergonzarás cuando recibas a tus hermanas, las mayores que tú y las menores que tú, las cuales yo te daré por hijas, aunque no por tu pacto,

62 A nd I will establish my covenant with thee, and thou shalt know that I Jehovah;

sino por mi pacto que confirmaré contigo. Y sabrás que yo soy Jehová;

63 t hat thou mayest remember, and be ashamed, and no more open thy mouth because of thy confusion, when I forgive thee all that thou hast done, saith the Lord Jehovah.

para que te acuerdes y te avergüences, y nunca más abras la boca, a causa de tu vergüenza, cuando yo perdone todo lo que hiciste, dice Jehová, el Señor.”»
