1 T he word that came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying,

Palabra de Jehová que vino a Jeremías, diciendo:

2 T hus speaketh Jehovah the God of Israel, saying, Write thee in a book all the words that I have spoken unto thee.

«Así habló Jehová, Dios de Israel: Escribe en un libro todas las palabras que te he hablado.

3 F or behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, when I will turn the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, saith Jehovah; and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.

Porque vienen días, dice Jehová, en que haré volver a los cautivos de mi pueblo de Israel y de Judá, ha dicho Jehová, y los traeré a la tierra que di a sus padres, y la disfrutarán.»

4 A nd these are the words that Jehovah hath spoken concerning Israel and concerning Judah;

Éstas, pues, son las palabras que habló Jehová acerca de Israel y de Judá.

5 f or thus saith Jehovah: We have heard a voice of trembling, there is fear, and no peace.

Así ha dicho Jehová: «¡Hemos oído gritos de terror y espanto! ¡No hay paz!

6 A sk ye now, and see, whether a male doth travail with child? Wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail; and all faces are turned into paleness?

¡Inquirid ahora, considerad si un varón da a luz!, porque he visto que todos los hombres tenían las manos sobre sus caderas como la mujer que está de parto, y que se han puesto pálidos todos los rostros.

7 A las! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.

¡Ah, cuán grande es aquel día! Tanto, que no hay otro semejante a él. Es un tiempo de angustia para Jacob, pero de ella será librado.

8 A nd it shall come to pass in that day, saith Jehovah of hosts, I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more reduce him to servitude.

»Aquel día, dice Jehová de los ejércitos, yo quebraré el yugo de su cuello y romperé sus coyundas, y extranjeros no volverán a ponerlo en servidumbre,

9 B ut they shall serve Jehovah their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them.

sino que servirán a Jehová, su Dios, y a David, su rey, a quien yo les levantaré.

10 A nd thou, my servant Jacob, fear not, saith Jehovah; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for behold, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and at ease, and none shall make afraid.

»Tú, pues, siervo mío Jacob, no temas, dice Jehová; no te atemorices, Israel, porque he aquí que yo soy el que te salvo de lejos, a ti y a tu descendencia, de la tierra de tu cautiverio. Jacob volverá, descansará y vivirá tranquilo, y no habrá quien lo espante.

11 F or I am with thee, saith Jehovah, to save thee: for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have scattered thee; yet of thee will I not make a full end, but I will correct thee with judgment, and will not hold thee altogether guiltless.

Porque yo estoy contigo para salvarte, dice Jehová, y destruiré a todas las naciones entre las cuales te esparcí. Pero a ti no te destruiré, aunque te castigaré con justicia: de ninguna manera te dejaré sin castigo.»

12 F or thus saith Jehovah: Thy bruise is incurable, thy wound is grievous.

Así ha dicho Jehová: «Incurable es tu quebrantamiento y dolorosa tu llaga.

13 T here is none to plead thy cause, to bind up; thou hast no healing medicines.

No hay quien juzgue tu causa para sanarte; no hay para ti medicina eficaz.

14 A ll thy lovers have forgotten thee; they seek thee not. For I have smitten thee with the stroke of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the greatness of thine iniquity: thy sins are manifold.

Todos tus enamorados te olvidaron; no te buscan, porque te herí como hiere un enemigo, con azote de adversario cruel, a causa de la magnitud de tu maldad y de tus muchos pecados.

15 W hy criest thou because of thy bruise? thy sorrow is incurable; for the greatness of thine iniquity, thy sins are manifold, I have done these things unto thee.

¿Por qué gritas a causa de tu quebrantamiento? Incurable es tu dolor, porque por la grandeza de tu iniquidad y por tus muchos pecados te he hecho esto.

16 T herefore all that devour thee shall be devoured, and all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they that spoil thee shall be for a spoil; and all they that prey upon thee will I give to be a prey.

Pero serán devorados todos los que te devoran, y todos tus adversarios, todos ellos, irán al cautiverio; pisoteados serán los que te pisotearon, y a todos los que te despojaron, yo los entregaré al despojo.

17 F or I will apply a bandage unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith Jehovah; for they have called thee an outcast: This is Zion that no man seeketh after.

Mas yo haré venir sanidad para ti, y sanaré tus heridas, dice Jehová, porque “Desechada” te llamaron, diciendo: “Ésta es Sión, de la que nadie se acuerda.”»

18 T hus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will turn the captivity of Jacob's tents, and have mercy on his habitations; and the city shall be built upon her own heap; and the palace shall be inhabited after the manner thereof.

Así ha dicho Jehová: «He aquí yo hago volver a los cautivos de las tiendas de Jacob, y de sus tiendas tendré misericordia; la ciudad será edificada sobre su colina, y el palacio será asentado en su lugar.

19 A nd out of them shall proceed thanksgiving, and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be diminished; and I will honour them, and they shall not be small.

Saldrá de ellos acción de gracias y voz de nación que está en regocijo. Los multiplicaré y no serán disminuidos; los multiplicaré y no serán menoscabados.

20 A nd their sons shall be as aforetime; and their assembly shall be established before me; and I will punish all that oppress them.

Serán sus hijos como antes, y su congregación delante de mí será confirmada. Yo castigaré a todos sus opresores.

21 A nd their prince shall be of themselves, and their ruler shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to approach, and he shall draw near unto me. For who is this that engageth his heart to draw near unto me? saith Jehovah.

De ella saldrá su soberano, y de en medio de ella saldrá su gobernante. Lo haré acercarse y él se acercará a mí, porque ¿quién es aquel que se atreve a acercarse a mí?, dice Jehová.

22 A nd ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

Entonces vosotros seréis mi pueblo y yo seré vuestro Dios.

23 B ehold, a tempest of Jehovah, fury is gone forth, a sweeping storm: it shall whirl down upon the head of the wicked.

»La tempestad de Jehová sale con furor; la tempestad que se prepara se cierne sobre la cabeza de los impíos.

24 T he fierce anger of Jehovah shall not return, until he have executed, and until he have performed the purposes of his heart. At the end of the days ye shall consider it.

No se calmará el ardor de la ira de Jehová hasta que haya hecho y cumplido los pensamientos de su corazón. ¡Al final de los días entenderéis esto!
