1 G o to now, ye rich, weep, howling over your miseries that coming upon.

¡Vamos ahora, ricos! Llorad y aullad por las miserias que os vendrán.

2 Y our wealth is become rotten, and your garments moth-eaten.

Vuestras riquezas están podridas y vuestras ropas, comidas de polilla.

3 Y our gold and silver is eaten away, and their canker shall be for a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as fire. Ye have heaped up treasure in last days.

Vuestro oro y plata están enmohecidos y su moho testificará contra vosotros y devorará del todo vuestros cuerpos como fuego. Habéis acumulado tesoros para los días finales.

4 B ehold, the wages of your labourers, who have harvested your fields, wrongfully kept back by you, cry, and the cries of those that have reaped are entered into the ears of Lord of sabaoth.

El jornal de los obreros que han cosechado vuestras tierras, el cual por engaño no les ha sido pagado por vosotros, clama, y los clamores de los que habían segado han llegado a los oídos del Señor de los ejércitos.

5 Y e have lived luxuriously on the earth and indulged yourselves; ye have nourished your hearts in a day of slaughter;

Habéis vivido en deleites sobre la tierra y sido libertinos. Habéis engordado vuestros corazones como en día de matanza.

6 y e have condemned, ye have killed the just; he does not resist you.

Habéis condenado y dado muerte al justo, sin que él os haga resistencia. Sed pacientes y orad

7 H ave patience, therefore, brethren, till the coming of the Lord. Behold, the labourer awaits the precious fruit of the earth, having patience for it until it receive early and latter rain.

Por tanto, hermanos, tened paciencia hasta la venida del Señor. Mirad cómo el labrador espera el precioso fruto de la tierra, aguardando con paciencia hasta que reciba la lluvia temprana y la tardía.

8 Y e also have patience: stablish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is drawn nigh.

Tened también vosotros paciencia y afirmad vuestros corazones, porque la venida del Señor se acerca.

9 C omplain not one against another, brethren, that ye be not judged. Behold, the judge stands before the door.

Hermanos, no os quejéis unos contra otros, para que no seáis condenados; el Juez ya está delante de la puerta.

10 T ake an example, brethren, of suffering and having patience, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of Lord.

Hermanos míos, tomad como ejemplo de aflicción y de paciencia a los profetas que hablaron en nombre del Señor.

11 B ehold, we call them blessed who have endured. Ye have heard of the endurance of Job, and seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is full of tender compassion and pitiful.

Nosotros tenemos por bienaventurados a los que sufren: Habéis oído de la paciencia de Job, y habéis visto el fin que le dio el Señor, porque el Señor es muy misericordioso y compasivo.

12 B ut before all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath; but let your yea be yea, and your nay, nay, that ye do not fall under judgment.

Sobre todo, hermanos míos, no juréis, ni por el cielo ni por la tierra ni por ningún otro juramento; sino que vuestro «sí» sea sí, y vuestro «no» sea no, para que no caigáis en condenación.

13 D oes any one among you suffer evil? let him pray. Is any happy? let him sing psalms.

¿Está alguno entre vosotros afligido? Haga oración. ¿Está alguno alegre? Cante alabanzas.

14 I s any sick among you? let him call to the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of Lord;

¿Está alguno enfermo entre vosotros? Llame a los ancianos de la iglesia para que oren por él, ungiéndolo con aceite en el nombre del Señor.

15 a nd the prayer of faith shall heal the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he be one who has committed sins, it shall be forgiven him.

Y la oración de fe salvará al enfermo, y el Señor lo levantará; y si ha cometido pecados, le serán perdonados.

16 C onfess therefore your offences to one another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed. fervent supplication of the righteous has much power.

Confesaos vuestras ofensas unos a otros y orad unos por otros, para que seáis sanados. La oración eficaz del justo puede mucho.

17 E lias was a man of like passions to us, and he prayed with prayer that it should not rain; and it did not rain upon the earth three years and six months;

Elías era hombre sujeto a pasiones semejantes a las nuestras, y oró fervientemente para que no lloviera, y no llovió sobre la tierra durante tres años y seis meses.

18 a nd again he prayed, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth caused its fruit to spring forth.

Y otra vez oró, y el cielo dio lluvia y la tierra produjo su fruto.

19 M y brethren, if any one among you err from the truth, and one bring him back,

Hermanos, si alguno de entre vosotros se ha extraviado de la verdad y alguno lo hace volver,

20 l et him know that he that brings back a sinner from error of his way shall save a soul from death and shall cover a multitude of sins.

sepa que el que haga volver al pecador del error de su camino, salvará de muerte un alma y cubrirá multitud de pecados.
