1 H ear ye this, house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, who swear by the name of Jehovah, and make mention of the God of Israel, not in truth, nor in righteousness.

Oíd esto, casa de Jacob, que os llamáis del nombre de Israel, los que salieron de las aguas de Judá, los que juran en el nombre de Jehová y hacen memoria del Dios de Israel, mas no en verdad ni en justicia.

2 F or they are named after the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel: Jehovah of hosts is his name.

Sin embargo, de la santa ciudad se nombran y confían en el Dios de Israel, cuyo nombre es Jehová de los ejércitos.

3 I have declared the former things long ago; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I caused them to be heard: I wrought suddenly, and they came to pass.

«Lo que pasó, ya antes lo dije, de mi boca salió; lo publiqué, lo hice pronto, y fue realidad.

4 B ecause I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass,

Por cuanto sé que eres duro, que una barra de hierro es tu cerviz, y tu frente de bronce,

5 s o I have long ago declared to thee; before they came to pass I caused thee to hear; lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, or my molten image hath commanded them.

por eso te lo dije ya hace tiempo; antes que sucediera te lo advertí, para que no dijeras: “Mi ídolo lo hizo, mis imágenes de escultura y de fundición mandaron estas cosas.”

6 T hou heardest, see all this;—and ye, will not ye declare ? I have caused thee to hear new things from this time, and things hidden, and that thou knewest not:

Lo oíste y lo viste todo, ¿y no lo anunciaréis vosotros? Ahora, pues, te he hecho oír cosas nuevas y ocultas que tú no sabías.

7 t hey are created now, and not long ago; and before this day thou hast not heard them, lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them.

Ahora han sido creadas, no en días pasados, ni antes de este día las habías oído, para que no digas: “He aquí que yo lo sabía.”

8 Y ea, thou heardest not, yea, thou knewest not, yea, from of old thine ear was not opened; for I knew that thou wouldest ever deal treacherously, and thou wast called a transgressor from the womb.

Sí, nunca lo habías oído ni nunca lo habías sabido. Ciertamente no se abrió antes tu oído, porque sabía que siendo desleal habías de desobedecer; por tanto te llamé “rebelde” desde el vientre.

9 F or my name's sake I will defer mine anger, and my praise will I refrain as to thee, that I cut thee not off.

»Por amor de mi nombre contendré mi ira, y para alabanza mía la reprimiré para no destruirte.

10 B ehold, I have refined thee, but not as silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

He aquí te he purificado, y no como a plata; te he escogido en horno de aflicción.

11 F or mine own sake, for mine own sake, will I do; for how should be profaned? and I will not give my glory unto another.

Por mí, por amor de mí mismo lo haré, para que no sea profanado mi nombre, y mi honra no la daré a otro.

12 H earken unto me, Jacob, and Israel, my called. I HE; I, the first, and I, the last.

»Óyeme, Jacob, y tú, Israel, a quien llamé: Yo mismo, yo el primero y yo también el último.

13 Y ea, my hand hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spread abroad the heavens: I call unto them, they stand up together.

Mi mano fundó también la tierra; mi mano derecha midió los cielos con el palmo. Al llamarlos yo, comparecieron juntos.

14 A ll ye, gather yourselves together, and hear: which among them hath declared these things? He whom Jehovah hath loved shall execute his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm the Chaldeans.

Juntaos todos vosotros y oíd. ¿Quién hay entre ellos que anuncie estas cosas? Aquel a quien Jehová amó ejecutará su voluntad en Babilonia, y su brazo estará sobre los caldeos.

15 I , I, have spoken; yea, I have called him; I have brought him, and his way shall be prosperous.

Yo, yo hablé, y lo llamé y lo traje; por tanto, será prosperado su camino.

16 C ome near unto me, hear ye this: I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I; and now the Lord Jehovah hath sent me, and his Spirit.

Acercaos a mí, oíd esto: desde el principio no hablé en secreto; desde que eso se hizo, allí estaba yo.» Y ahora me envió Jehová el Señor, y su espíritu.

17 T hus saith Jehovah, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I Jehovah thy God, who teacheth thee for profit, who leadeth thee in the way that thou shouldest go.

Así ha dicho Jehová, Redentor tuyo, el Santo de Israel: «Yo soy Jehová, Dios tuyo, que te enseña para tu provecho, que te encamina por el camino que debes seguir.

18 O h that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! Then would thy peace have been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea;

¡Si hubieras atendido a mis mandamientos! Fuera entonces tu paz como un río y tu justicia como las olas del mar.

19 a nd thy seed would have been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof: their name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me.

Fuera como la arena tu descendencia, y los renuevos de tus entrañas como los granos de arena; nunca su nombre sería eliminado ni borrado de mi presencia.

20 G o ye forth from Babylon, flee from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing; declare, cause this to be heard, utter it to the end of the earth; say ye, Jehovah hath redeemed his servant Jacob.

»¡Salid de Babilonia! ¡Huid de entre los caldeos! ¡Anunciadlo con voz de alegría, publicadlo, llevad la noticia hasta lo último de la tierra! Decid: “¡Redimió Jehová a Jacob su siervo!”»

21 A nd they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts; he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them; yea, he clave the rock, and the waters gushed out.

No tuvieron sed cuando los llevó por los desiertos; les hizo brotar agua de la piedra; abrió la peña y corrieron las aguas.

22 T here is no peace, saith Jehovah, unto the wicked.

«¡No hay paz para los malos!», ha dicho Jehová.
