1 A soft answer turneth away fury; but a grievous word stirreth up anger.

2 T he tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright; but the mouth of the foolish poureth out folly.

La lengua de los sabios adorna la sabiduría, pero la boca de los necios dice sandeces.

3 T he eyes of Jehovah are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

Los ojos de Jehová están en todo lugar, mirando a los malos y a los buenos.

4 G entleness of tongue is a tree of life; but crookedness therein is a breaking of the spirit.

La lengua apacible es árbol de vida, pero la perversidad de ella es quebrantamiento de espíritu.

5 A fool despiseth his father's instruction; but he that regardeth reproof becometh prudent.

El necio menosprecia el consejo de su padre; el prudente acepta la corrección.

6 I n the house of a righteous is much treasure; but in the revenue of a wicked is disturbance.

En la casa del justo hay gran provisión, pero turbación hay en las ganancias del malvado.

7 T he lips of the wise disperse knowledge, but not so the heart of the foolish.

La boca de los sabios siembra sabiduría; no así el corazón de los necios.

8 T he sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah; but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

El sacrificio que ofrecen los malvados es abominable para Jehová; la oración de los rectos es su gozo.

9 T he way of a wicked is an abomination to Jehovah; but him that pursueth righteousness he loveth.

Abominable es para Jehová el camino del malvado; él ama al que sigue la justicia.

10 G rievous correction is for him that forsaketh the path; he that hateth reproof shall die.

La reconvención es molesta al que deja el camino; el que aborrece la corrección morirá.

11 S heol and destruction are before Jehovah; how much more then the hearts of the children of men!

El seol y el Abadón están delante de Jehová, ¡cuánto más los corazones de los hombres!

12 A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him; he will not go unto the wise.

El escarnecedor no ama al que lo reprende ni se junta con los sabios.

13 A joyful heart maketh a cheerful countenance; but by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken.

El corazón alegre embellece el rostro, pero el dolor del corazón abate el espíritu.

14 T he heart of an intelligent seeketh knowledge; but the mouth of the foolish feedeth on folly.

El corazón inteligente busca la sabiduría, pero la boca de los necios se alimenta de necedades.

15 A ll the days of the afflicted are evil; but a cheerful heart is a continual feast.

Todos los días del desdichado son difíciles, pero el de corazón alegre tiene un banquete continuo.

16 B etter is little with the fear of Jehovah than great store and disquietude therewith.

Mejor es lo poco con el temor de Jehová, que un gran tesoro donde hay turbación.

17 B etter is a meal of herbs where love is, than a fatted ox and hatred therewith.

Mejor es comida de legumbres donde hay amor, que de buey engordado donde hay odio.

18 A furious man stirreth up contention; but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.

El hombre iracundo promueve contiendas; el que tarda en airarse apacigua la rencilla.

19 T he way of the sluggard is as a hedge of thorns; but the path of the upright is made plain.

El camino del perezoso es como un seto de espinos; la vereda de los rectos, como una calzada.

20 A wise son maketh a glad father; but a foolish man despiseth his mother.

El hijo sabio alegra al padre; el hombre necio menosprecia a su madre.

21 F olly is joy to him that is void of sense; but a man of understanding regulateth his walk.

La necedad es alegría al falto de inteligencia; el hombre inteligente endereza sus pasos.

22 W ithout counsel purposes are disappointed; but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.

Los pensamientos se frustran donde falta el consejo, pero se afirman con los muchos consejeros.

23 A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth; and a word in its season, how good is it!

El hombre se alegra con la respuesta de su boca; la palabra a su tiempo, ¡cuán buena es!

24 T he path of life is upwards for the wise, that he may depart from Sheol beneath.

El camino de la vida es hacia arriba para el prudente; así se aparta del seol abajo.

25 J ehovah plucketh up the house of the proud; but he establisheth the boundary of the widow.

Jehová derriba la casa de los soberbios, pero afirma la heredad de la viuda.

26 T he thoughts of the evil are an abomination to Jehovah; but pure words are pleasant.

Abominables son para Jehová los pensamientos del malo, pero las expresiones de los puros son limpias.

27 H e that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.

Alborota su casa el codicioso, pero el que aborrece el soborno vivirá.

28 T he heart of a righteous studieth to answer; but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.

El corazón del justo piensa antes de responder; la boca de los malvados derrama maldad.

29 J ehovah is far from the wicked; but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.

Jehová está lejos de los malvados, pero escucha la oración de los justos.

30 T hat which enlighteneth the eyes rejoiceth the heart; good tidings make the bones fat.

La luz de los ojos alegra el corazón; la buena noticia conforta los huesos.

31 T he ear that heareth the reproof of life shall abide among the wise.

El oído que escucha las amonestaciones de la vida, morará entre los sabios.

32 H e that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul; but he that heareth reproof getteth sense.

El que desprecia la disciplina se menosprecia a sí mismo; el que escucha la corrección adquiere inteligencia.

33 T he fear of Jehovah is the discipline of wisdom, and before honour humility.

El temor de Jehová es enseñanza de sabiduría, y a la honra precede la humildad.
