1 A soft answer turneth away fury; but a grievous word stirreth up anger.

La suave respuesta aparta el furor, Pero la palabra hiriente hace subir la ira.

2 T he tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright; but the mouth of the foolish poureth out folly.

La lengua del sabio hace grato el conocimiento, Pero la boca de los necios habla necedades.

3 T he eyes of Jehovah are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

En todo lugar están los ojos del Señor, Observando a los malos y a los buenos.

4 G entleness of tongue is a tree of life; but crookedness therein is a breaking of the spirit.

La lengua apacible es árbol de vida, Pero la perversidad en ella quebranta el espíritu.

5 A fool despiseth his father's instruction; but he that regardeth reproof becometh prudent.

El necio rechaza la disciplina de su padre, Pero es prudente el que acepta la reprensión.

6 I n the house of a righteous is much treasure; but in the revenue of a wicked is disturbance.

En la casa del justo hay mucha riqueza, Pero en las ganancias del impío hay turbación.

7 T he lips of the wise disperse knowledge, but not so the heart of the foolish.

Los labios de los sabios esparcen conocimiento, Pero no así el corazón de los necios.

8 T he sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah; but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

El sacrificio de los impíos es abominación al Señor, Pero la oración de los rectos es Su deleite.

9 T he way of a wicked is an abomination to Jehovah; but him that pursueth righteousness he loveth.

Abominación al Señor es el camino del impío, Pero El ama al que sigue la justicia.

10 G rievous correction is for him that forsaketh the path; he that hateth reproof shall die.

La disciplina severa es para el que abandona el camino; El que aborrece la reprensión morirá.

11 S heol and destruction are before Jehovah; how much more then the hearts of the children of men!

El Seol y el Abadón están delante del Señor, ¡Cuánto más los corazones de los hombres!

12 A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him; he will not go unto the wise.

El insolente no ama al que lo reprende, Ni se allegará a los sabios.

13 A joyful heart maketh a cheerful countenance; but by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken.

El corazón gozoso alegra el rostro, Pero en la tristeza del corazón se quebranta el espíritu.

14 T he heart of an intelligent seeketh knowledge; but the mouth of the foolish feedeth on folly.

El corazón inteligente busca conocimiento, Pero la boca de los necios se alimenta de necedades.

15 A ll the days of the afflicted are evil; but a cheerful heart is a continual feast.

Todos los días del afligido son malos, Pero el de corazón alegre tiene un banquete continuo.

16 B etter is little with the fear of Jehovah than great store and disquietude therewith.

Mejor es poco con temor del Señor, Que gran tesoro con turbación.

17 B etter is a meal of herbs where love is, than a fatted ox and hatred therewith.

Mejor es un plato de legumbres donde hay amor, Que buey engordado con odio.

18 A furious man stirreth up contention; but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.

El hombre irascible provoca riñas, Pero el lento para la ira apacigua pleitos.

19 T he way of the sluggard is as a hedge of thorns; but the path of the upright is made plain.

El camino del perezoso es como un seto de espinos, Pero la senda de los rectos es una calzada.

20 A wise son maketh a glad father; but a foolish man despiseth his mother.

El hijo sabio alegra al padre, Pero el hombre necio desprecia a su madre.

21 F olly is joy to him that is void of sense; but a man of understanding regulateth his walk.

La necedad es alegría para el insensato, Pero el hombre inteligente anda rectamente.

22 W ithout counsel purposes are disappointed; but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.

Sin consulta, los planes se frustran, Pero con muchos consejeros, triunfan.

23 A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth; and a word in its season, how good is it!

El hombre se alegra con la respuesta adecuada, Y una palabra a tiempo, ¡cuán agradable es!

24 T he path of life is upwards for the wise, that he may depart from Sheol beneath.

La senda de la vida para el sabio es hacia arriba Para que se aparte del Seol que está abajo.

25 J ehovah plucketh up the house of the proud; but he establisheth the boundary of the widow.

El Señor derribará la casa de los soberbios, Pero afianzará los linderos de la viuda.

26 T he thoughts of the evil are an abomination to Jehovah; but pure words are pleasant.

Abominación al Señor son los planes perversos, Pero son puras las palabras agradables.

27 H e that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.

Perturba su casa el que tiene ganancias ilícitas, Pero el que aborrece el soborno, vivirá.

28 T he heart of a righteous studieth to answer; but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.

El corazón del justo medita cómo responder, Pero la boca de los impíos habla lo malo.

29 J ehovah is far from the wicked; but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.

El Señor está lejos de los impíos, Pero escucha la oración de los justos.

30 T hat which enlighteneth the eyes rejoiceth the heart; good tidings make the bones fat.

La luz de los ojos alegra el corazón, Y las buenas noticias fortalecen los huesos.

31 T he ear that heareth the reproof of life shall abide among the wise.

Aquel cuyo oído escucha las reprensiones de la vida Morará entre los sabios.

32 H e that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul; but he that heareth reproof getteth sense.

El que tiene en poco la disciplina se desprecia a sí mismo, Pero el que escucha las reprensiones adquiere entendimiento.

33 T he fear of Jehovah is the discipline of wisdom, and before honour humility.

El temor del Señor es instrucción de sabiduría, Y antes de la gloria está la humildad.
