1 N ow the feast of unleavened bread, which called the passover, drew nigh,

2 a nd the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.

3 A nd Satan entered into Judas, who was surnamed Iscariote, being of the number of the twelve.

4 A nd he went away and spoke with the chief priests and captains as to how he should deliver him up to them.

5 A nd they were rejoiced, and agreed to give him money.

6 A nd he came to an agreement to do it, and sought an opportunity to deliver him up to them away from the crowd.

7 A nd the day of unleavened bread came, in which the passover was to be killed.

8 A nd he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare the passover for us, that we may eat.

Entonces Jesús envió a Pedro y a Juan, diciéndoles: “Vayan y preparen la Pascua para nosotros, para que la comamos.”

9 B ut they said to him, Where wilt thou that we prepare ?

“¿Dónde deseas que la preparemos?” Le preguntaron.

10 A nd he said to them, Behold, as ye enter into the city a man will meet you, carrying an earthen pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he goes in;

Y El les respondió: “Miren, al entrar en la ciudad, les saldrá al encuentro un hombre que lleva un cántaro de agua; síganlo a la casa donde entre.

11 a nd ye shall say to the master of the house, The Teacher says to thee, Where is the guest-chamber where I may eat the passover with my disciples?

Y dirán al dueño de la casa: ‘El Maestro te dice: “¿Dónde está la habitación, en la cual pueda comer la Pascua con Mis discípulos?”’

12 A nd he will shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.

Entonces él les mostrará un gran aposento alto, dispuesto; prepáren la allí.”

13 A nd having gone they found it as he had said to them; and they prepared the passover.

Ellos fueron y encontraron todo tal como El les había dicho; y prepararon la Pascua. Institución de la Cena del Señor

14 A nd when the hour was come, he placed himself at table, and the apostles with him.

Cuando llegó la hora, Jesús se sentó a la mesa, y con El los apóstoles,

15 A nd he said to them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer.

y les dijo: “Intensamente he deseado comer esta Pascua con ustedes antes de padecer;

16 F or I say unto you, that I will not eat any more at all of it until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

porque les digo que nunca más volveré a comerla hasta que se cumpla en el reino de Dios.”

17 A nd having received a cup, when he had given thanks he said, Take this and divide it among yourselves.

Y tomando una copa, después de haber dado gracias, dijo: “Tomen esto y repártanlo entre ustedes;

18 F or I say unto you, that I will not drink at all of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God come.

porque les digo que de ahora en adelante no beberé del fruto de la vid, hasta que venga el reino de Dios.”

19 A nd having taken a loaf, when he had given thanks, he broke, and gave to them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

Y tomando el pan, después de haber dado gracias, lo partió, y les dio, diciendo: “Esto es Mi cuerpo que por ustedes es dado; hagan esto en memoria de Mí.”

20 I n like manner also the cup, after having supped, saying, This cup the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

De la misma manera tomó la copa después de haber cenado, diciendo: “Esta copa es el nuevo pacto en Mi sangre, que es derramada por ustedes.

21 M oreover, behold, the hand of him that delivers me up with me on the table;

Pero, vean, la mano del que Me entrega está junto a Mí en la mesa.

22 a nd the Son of man indeed goes as it is determined, but woe unto that man by whom he is delivered up.

Porque en verdad, el Hijo del Hombre va según se ha determinado; pero ¡ay de aquel hombre por quien El es entregado!”

23 A nd they began to question together among themselves who then it could be of them who was about to do this.

Entonces ellos comenzaron a discutir entre sí quién de ellos sería el que iba a hacer esto. Los Discípulos Discuten sobre Quién es el Mayor

24 A nd there was also a strife among them which of them should be held to be greatest.

Surgió también entre ellos una discusión, sobre cuál de ellos debía ser considerado como el mayor.

25 A nd he said to them, The kings of the nations rule over them, and they that exercise authority over them are called benefactors.

Y Jesús les dijo: “Los reyes de los Gentiles se enseñorean de ellos; y los que tienen autoridad sobre ellos son llamados bienhechores.

26 B ut ye not thus; but let the greater among you be as the younger, and the leader as he that serves.

Pero no es así con ustedes; antes, el mayor entre ustedes hágase como el menor, y el que dirige como el que sirve.

27 F or which greater, he that is at table or he that serves? not he that is at table? But I am in the midst of you as the one that serves.

Porque, ¿cuál es mayor, el que se sienta a la mesa, o el que sirve ? ¿No lo es el que se sienta a la mesa ? Sin embargo, entre ustedes Yo soy como el que sirve.

28 B ut ye are they who have persevered with me in my temptations.

“Ustedes son los que han permanecido junto a Mí en Mis pruebas;

29 A nd I appoint unto you, as my Father has appointed unto me, a kingdom,

y así como Mi Padre Me ha otorgado un reino, Yo les otorgo

30 t hat ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

que coman y beban a Mi mesa en Mi reino; y se sentarán en tronos juzgando a las doce tribus de Israel. Jesús Predice la Negación de Pedro

31 A nd the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded to have you, to sift as wheat;

“Simón, Simón (Pedro), mira que Satanás los ha reclamado a ustedes para zarandearlos como a trigo;

32 b ut I have besought for thee that thy faith fail not; and thou, when once thou hast been restored, confirm thy brethren.

pero Yo he rogado por ti para que tu fe no falle; y tú, una vez que hayas regresado, fortalece a tus hermanos.”

33 A nd he said to him, Lord, with thee I am ready to go both to prison and to death.

Y Pedro Le dijo: “Señor, estoy dispuesto a ir adonde vayas, tanto a la cárcel como a la muerte.”

34 A nd he said, I tell thee, Peter, cock shall not crow to-day before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.

Pero Jesús le dijo: “Te digo, Pedro, que el gallo no cantará hoy hasta que tú hayas negado tres veces que Me conoces.” Bolsa, Alforja y Espada

35 A nd he said to them, When I sent you without purse and scrip and sandals, did ye lack anything? And they said, Nothing.

Y El les dijo a todos: “Cuando los envié sin bolsa, ni alforja, ni sandalias, ¿acaso les faltó algo?” “ No, nada,” contestaron ellos.

36 H e said therefore to them, But now he that has a purse let him take, in like manner also a scrip, and he that has none let him sell his garment and buy a sword;

Entonces les dijo: “Pero ahora, el que tenga una bolsa, que la lleve consigo, de la misma manera también una alforja, y el que no tenga espada, venda su manto y compre una.

37 f or I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned with lawless: for also the things concerning me have an end.

Porque les digo que es necesario que en Mí se cumpla esto que está escrito: ‘Y con los transgresores fue contado;’ pues ciertamente, lo que se refiere a Mí, tiene su cumplimiento.”

38 A nd they said, Lord, behold here are two swords. And he said to them, It is enough.

Y ellos dijeron: “Señor, aquí hay dos espadas.” “Es suficiente,” les respondió. Jesús en Getsemaní

39 A nd going forth he went according to his custom to the mount of Olives, and the disciples also followed him.

Saliendo Jesús, se encaminó, como de costumbre, hacia el Monte de los Olivos; y los discípulos también Lo siguieron.

40 A nd when he was at the place he said to them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.

Cuando llegó al lugar, les dijo: “Oren para que no entren en tentación.”

41 A nd he was withdrawn from them about a stone's throw, and having knelt down he prayed,

Y se apartó de ellos como a un tiro de piedra, y poniéndose de rodillas, oraba,

42 s aying, Father, if thou wilt remove this cup from me:—but then, not my will, but thine be done.

diciendo: “Padre, si es Tu voluntad, aparta de Mí esta copa; pero no se haga Mi voluntad, sino la Tuya.”

43 A nd an angel appeared to him from heaven strengthening him.

Entonces se apareció un ángel del cielo, que Lo fortalecía.

44 A nd being in conflict he prayed more intently. And his sweat became as great drops of blood, falling down upon the earth.

Y estando en agonía, oraba con mucho fervor; y Su sudor se volvió como gruesas gotas de sangre, que caían sobre la tierra.

45 A nd rising up from his prayer, coming to the disciples, he found them sleeping from grief.

Cuando se levantó de orar, fue a los discípulos y los halló dormidos a causa de la tristeza,

46 A nd he said to them, Why sleep ye? rise up and pray that ye enter not into temptation.

y les dijo: “¿Por qué duermen? Levántense y oren para que no entren en tentación.” Arresto de Jesús

47 A s he was yet speaking, behold, a crowd, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went on before them, and drew near to Jesus to kiss him.

Mientras todavía estaba El hablando, llegó una multitud, y el que se llamaba Judas, uno de los doce apóstoles, iba delante de ellos, y se acercó para besar a Jesús.

48 A nd Jesus said to him, Judas, deliverest thou up the Son of man with a kiss?

Pero Jesús le dijo: “Judas, ¿con un beso entregas al Hijo del Hombre?”

49 A nd they who were around him, seeing what was going to follow, said, Lord, shall we smite with sword?

Cuando los que rodeaban a Jesús vieron lo que iba a suceder, dijeron: “Señor, ¿heriremos a espada ?”

50 A nd a certain one from among them smote the bondman of the high priest and took off his right ear.

Y uno de ellos hirió al siervo del sumo sacerdote y le cortó la oreja derecha.

51 A nd Jesus answering said, Suffer thus far; and having touched his ear, he healed him.

Pero Jesús dijo: “¡Deténganse! Basta de esto.” Y tocando la oreja al siervo, lo sanó.

52 A nd Jesus said to the chief priests and captains of the temple and elders, who were come against him, Have ye come out as against a robber with swords and sticks?

Entonces Jesús dijo a los principales sacerdotes, a los oficiales del templo y a los ancianos que habían venido contra El: “¿Como contra un ladrón han salido con espadas y palos ?

53 W hen I was day by day with you in the temple ye did not stretch out your hands against me; but this is your hour and the power of darkness.

Cuando estaba con ustedes cada día en el templo, no Me echaron mano; pero esta hora y el poder de las tinieblas son de ustedes.” La Negación de Pedro

54 A nd having laid hold on him, they led him, and they led into the house of the high priest. And Peter followed afar off.

Después de arrestar a Jesús, se Lo llevaron y Lo condujeron a la casa del sumo sacerdote; y Pedro los seguía de lejos.

55 A nd they having lit a fire in the midst of the court and sat down together, Peter sat among them.

Después que encendieron una hoguera en medio del patio, y de sentarse juntos, Pedro se sentó entre ellos.

56 A nd a certain maid, having seen him sitting by the light, and having fixed her eyes upon him, said, And this was with him.

Una sirvienta, al verlo sentado junto a la lumbre, fijándose en él detenidamente, dijo: “También éste estaba con El.”

57 B ut he denied, saying, Woman, I do not know him.

Pero él lo negó, diciendo: “Mujer, yo no Lo conozco.”

58 A nd after a short time another seeing him said, And thou art of them. But Peter said, Man, I am not.

Un poco después, otro al verlo, dijo: “¡Tú también eres uno de ellos!” “¡Hombre, no es cierto!” le dijo Pedro.

59 A nd after the lapse of about one hour another stoutly maintained it, saying, In truth this also was with him, for also he is a Galilaean.

Pasada como una hora, otro insistía, diciendo: “Ciertamente éste también estaba con El, pues él también es Galileo.”

60 A nd Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he was yet speaking, cock crew.

Pero Pedro dijo: “Hombre, yo no sé de qué hablas.” Al instante, estando él todavía hablando, cantó un gallo.

61 A nd the Lord, turning round, looked at Peter; and Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he said to him, Before cock crow thou shalt deny me thrice.

El Señor se volvió y miró a Pedro. Entonces Pedro recordó la palabra del Señor, de cómo le había dicho: “Antes que el gallo cante hoy, Me negarás tres veces.”

62 A nd Peter, going forth without, wept bitterly.

Y saliendo fuera, lloró amargamente. Jesús Escarnecido

63 A nd the men who held him mocked him, beating;

Los hombres que tenían a Jesús bajo custodia, se burlaban de El y Lo golpeaban;

64 a nd covering him up, asked him saying, Prophesy, who is it that struck thee?

Le vendaron los ojos, y Le preguntaban: “Adivina, ¿quién es el que Te ha golpeado ?”

65 A nd they said many other injurious things to him.

También decían muchas otras cosas contra El, blasfemando. Jesús Ante el Concilio (Sanedrín)

66 A nd when it was day, the elderhood of the people, both chief priests and scribes, were gathered together, and led him into their council, saying,

Cuando se hizo de día, se reunió el Concilio (Sanedrín) de los ancianos del pueblo, tanto los principales sacerdotes como los escribas, y llevaron a Jesús ante su Concilio, diciendo:

67 I f thou art the Christ, tell us. And he said to them, If I tell you, ye will not at all believe;

“Si Tú eres el Cristo (el Mesías), dínoslo.” Pero El les dijo: “Si se lo digo, no creerán;

68 a nd if I should ask, ye would not answer me at all, nor let me go;

y si les pregunto, no responderán.

69 b ut henceforth shall the Son of man be sitting on the right hand of the power of God.

Pero de ahora en adelante, el Hijo del Hombre estara sentado a la diestra del poder de Dios.”

70 A nd they all said, Thou then art the Son of God? And he said to them, Ye say that I am.

Dijeron todos: “Entonces, ¿Tú eres el Hijo de Dios ?” “Ustedes dicen que Yo soy,” les respondió Jesús.

71 A nd they said, What need have we any more of witness, for we have heard ourselves out of his mouth?

Y ellos dijeron: “¿Qué necesidad tenemos ya de testimonio? Pues nosotros mismos lo hemos oído de Su propia boca.”
