1 B ut we make known to you, brethren, the grace of God bestowed in the assemblies of Macedonia;

Ahora, hermanos, les damos a conocer la gracia de Dios que ha sido dada en las iglesias de Macedonia.

2 t hat in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty has abounded to the riches of their liberality.

Pues en medio de una gran prueba de aflicción, abundó su gozo, y su profunda pobreza sobreabundó en la riqueza de su liberalidad.

3 F or according to power, I bear witness, and beyond power, willing of their own accord,

Porque yo testifico que según sus posibilidades, y aun más allá de sus posibilidades, dieron de su propia voluntad,

4 b egging of us with much entreaty the grace and fellowship of the service which to the saints.

suplicándonos con muchos ruegos el privilegio de participar en el sostenimiento (servicio) de los santos.

5 A nd not according as we hoped, but they gave themselves first to the Lord, and to us by God's will.

Y esto no como lo habíamos esperado, sino que primeramente se dieron a sí mismos al Señor, y luego a nosotros por la voluntad de Dios.

6 S o that we begged Titus that, according as he had before begun, so he would also complete as to you this grace also;

En consecuencia, rogamos a Tito que como él ya había comenzado antes, así también llevara a cabo en ustedes esta obra de gracia.

7 b ut even as ye abound in every way, in faith, and word, and knowledge, and all diligence, and in love from you to us, that ye may abound in this grace also.

Pero así como ustedes abundan en todo: en fe, en palabra, en conocimiento, en toda solicitud, y en el amor que hemos inspirado en ustedes, vean que también abunden en esta obra de gracia.

8 I do not speak as commanding, but through the zeal of others, and proving the genuineness of your love.

No digo esto como un mandamiento, sino para probar, por la solicitud de otros, también la sinceridad del amor de ustedes.

9 F or ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that for your sakes he, being rich, became poor, in order that ye by his poverty might be enriched.

Porque conocen la gracia de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, que siendo rico, sin embargo por amor a ustedes se hizo pobre, para que por medio de Su pobreza ustedes llegaran a ser ricos.

10 A nd I give opinion in this, for this is profitable for you who began before, not only to do, but also to be willing, a year ago.

Doy mi opinión en este asunto, porque esto les conviene a ustedes, que fueron los primeros en comenzar hace un año no sólo a hacer esto, sino también a desear hacerlo.

11 B ut now also complete the doing of it; so that as the readiness to be willing, so also to complete out of what ye have.

Ahora pues, acaben también de hacerlo; para que como hubo la buena voluntad para desearlo, así también la haya para llevarlo a cabo según lo que tengan.

12 F or if the readiness be there, accepted according to what he may have, not according to what he has not.

Porque si hay buena voluntad, se acepta según lo que se tiene, no según lo que no se tiene.

13 F or not in order that there may be ease for others, and for you distress,

Esto no es para holgura de otros y para aflicción de ustedes, sino para que haya igualdad.

14 b ut of equality; in the present time your abundance for their lack, that their abundance may be for your lack, so that there should be equality.

En el momento actual la abundancia de ustedes suple la necesidad de ellos, para que también la abundancia de ellos supla la necesidad de ustedes, de modo que haya igualdad.

15 A ccording as it is written, He who much had no excess, and he who little was nothing short.

Como está escrito: “ El que recogió mucho, no tuvo demasiado; y el que recogió poco, no tuvo escasez.” Delegación Encabezada por Tito

16 B ut thanks to God, who gives the same diligent zeal for you in the heart of Titus.

Pero gracias a Dios que pone la misma solicitud por ustedes en el corazón de Tito.

17 F or he received indeed the entreaty, but, being full of zeal, he went of his own accord to you;

Pues él no sólo aceptó nuestro ruego, sino que, siendo de por sí muy diligente, ha ido a ustedes por su propia voluntad.

18 b ut we have sent with him the brother whose praise in the glad tidings through all the assemblies;

Junto con él hemos enviado al hermano cuya fama en las cosas del evangelio se ha divulgado por todas las iglesias.

19 a nd not only, but also chosen by the assemblies as our fellow-traveller with this grace, ministered by us to the glory of the Lord himself, and our readiness;

Y no sólo esto, sino que también ha sido designado por las iglesias como nuestro compañero de viaje en esta obra de gracia, la cual es administrada por nosotros para la gloria del Señor mismo, y para manifestar nuestra buena voluntad;

20 a voiding this, that any one should blame us in this abundance administered by us;

teniendo cuidado de que nadie nos desacredite en esta generosa ofrenda administrada por nosotros.

21 f or we provide for things honest, not only before Lord, but also before men.

Pues nos preocupamos por lo que es honrado, no sólo ante los ojos del Señor, sino también ante los ojos de los hombres.

22 A nd we have sent with them our brother whom we have often proved to be of diligent zeal in many things, and now more diligently zealous through the great confidence as to you.

Con ellos hemos enviado a nuestro hermano, de quien hemos comprobado con frecuencia que fue diligente en muchas cosas, pero que ahora es mucho más diligente debido a la gran confianza que tiene en ustedes.

23 W hether as regards Titus, my companion and fellow-labourer in your behalf; or our brethren, deputed messengers of assemblies, Christ's glory.

En cuanto a Tito, es mi compañero y colaborador entre ustedes; en cuanto a nuestros hermanos, son mensajeros de las iglesias y gloria de Cristo (el Mesías).

24 S hew therefore to them, before the assemblies, the proof of your love, and of our boasting about you.

Por tanto, muéstrenles abiertamente ante las iglesias la prueba de su amor, y de nuestra razón para jactarnos respecto a ustedes.
