1 U nless Jehovah build the house, in vain do its builders labour in it; unless Jehovah keep the city, the keeper watcheth in vain:

Si el Señor no edifica la casa, En vano trabajan los que la edifican; Si el Señor no guarda la ciudad, En vano vela la guardia.

2 I t is vain for you to rise up early, to lie down late, to eat the bread of sorrows: so to his beloved one he giveth sleep.

Es en vano que se levanten de madrugada, Que se acuesten tarde, Que coman el pan de afanosa labor, Pues El da a Su amado aun mientras duerme.

3 L o, children are an inheritance from Jehovah, the fruit of the womb a reward.

Un don del Señor son los hijos, Y recompensa es el fruto del vientre.

4 A s arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of youth.

Como flechas en la mano del guerrero, Así son los hijos tenidos en la juventud.

5 H appy is the man that hath filled his quiver with them. They shall not be ashamed when they speak with enemies in the gate.

Bienaventurado el hombre que de ellos tiene llena su aljaba; No será avergonzado Cuando hable con sus enemigos en la puerta.
