1 A nd it came to pass in Iconium that they entered together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake that a great multitude of both Jews and Greeks believed.

Cuando Pablo y Bernabé entraron juntos en la sinagoga de los Judíos en Iconio, hablaron de tal manera que creyó una gran multitud, tanto de Judíos como de Griegos.

2 B ut the Jews who did not believe stirred up the minds of the nations and made evil-affected against the brethren.

Pero los Judíos que no creyeron, excitaron y llenaron de odio los ánimos (las almas) de los Gentiles contra los hermanos.

3 T hey stayed therefore a good while, speaking boldly, in the Lord, who gave witness to the word of his grace, giving signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

Con todo, se detuvieron allí mucho tiempo hablando valientemente, confiados en el Señor que confirmaba la palabra de Su gracia, concediendo que se hicieran señales (milagros) y prodigios por medio de sus manos.

4 A nd the multitude of the city was divided, and some were with the Jews and some with the apostles.

Pero la gente de la ciudad estaba dividida, y unos estaban con los Judíos y otros con los apóstoles.

5 A nd when an assault was making, both of the nations and Jews with their rulers, to use ill and stone them,

Cuando los Gentiles y los Judíos, con sus gobernantes, prepararon un atentado para maltratarlos y apedrearlos,

6 t hey, being aware of it, fled to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra and Derbe, and the surrounding country,

los apóstoles se dieron cuenta de ello y huyeron a las ciudades de Licaonia, Listra, Derbe, y sus alrededores;

7 a nd there they were announcing the glad tidings.

y allí continuaron anunciando el evangelio (las buenas nuevas). Pablo y Bernabé en Listra

8 A nd a certain man in Lystra, impotent in his feet, sat, lame from his mother's womb, who had never walked.

Y había en Listra un hombre que estaba sentado, imposibilitado de los pies, cojo desde el seno de su madre y que nunca había andado.

9 T his heard Paul speaking, who, fixing his eyes on him, and seeing that he had faith to be healed,

Este escuchaba hablar a Pablo, el cual, fijando la mirada en él, y viendo que tenía fe para ser sanado,

10 s aid with a loud voice, Rise up straight upon thy feet: and he sprang up and walked.

dijo con voz fuerte: “Levántate derecho sobre tus pies.” Y él dio un salto y comenzó a andar.

11 B ut the crowds, who saw what Paul had done, lifted up their voices in Lycaonian, saying, The gods, having made themselves like men, are come down to us.

Cuando la multitud vio lo que Pablo había hecho, alzaron la voz, diciendo en el idioma de Licaonia: “Los dioses se han hecho semejantes a hombres y han descendido a nosotros.”

12 A nd they called Barnabas Jupiter, and Paul Mercury, because he took the lead in speaking.

Y llamaban a Bernabé, Júpiter, y a Pablo, Mercurio, porque éste era el que dirigía la palabra.

13 A nd the priest of Jupiter who was before the city, having brought bulls and garlands to the gates, would have done sacrifice along with the crowds.

El sacerdote de Júpiter, cuyo templo estaba en las afueras de la ciudad, trajo toros y guirnaldas a las puertas, y quería ofrecer sacrificios junto con la multitud.

14 B ut the apostles Barnabas and Paul, having heard, rent their garments, and rushed out to the crowd, crying

Pero cuando lo oyeron los apóstoles Bernabé y Pablo, rasgaron sus ropas y se lanzaron en medio de la multitud, gritando:

15 a nd saying, Men, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, preaching to you to turn from these vanities to the living God, who made the heaven, and the earth, and the sea, and all things in them;

“Señores, ¿por qué hacen estas cosas? Nosotros también somos hombres de igual naturaleza que ustedes, y les anunciamos el evangelio para que se vuelvan de estas cosas vanas (de estos ídolos) a un Dios vivo, que hizo el cielo, la tierra, el mar, y todo lo que hay en ellos.

16 w ho in the past generations suffered all the nations to go in their own ways,

En las generaciones pasadas El permitió que todas las naciones (todos los Gentiles) siguieran sus propios caminos;

17 t hough indeed he did not leave himself without witness, doing good, and giving to you from heaven rain and fruitful seasons, filling your hearts with food and gladness.

y sin embargo, no dejó de dar testimonio de El mismo, haciendo bien y dándoles lluvias del cielo y estaciones fructíferas, llenando sus corazones de sustento y de alegría.”

18 A nd saying these things, they with difficulty kept the crowds from sacrificing to them.

Aun diciendo estas palabras, apenas pudieron impedir que las multitudes les ofrecieran sacrificio. Pablo Apedreado en Listra

19 B ut there came Jews from Antioch and Iconium, and having persuaded the crowds and stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing him to have died.

Pero vinieron algunos Judíos de Antioquía y de Iconio, y habiendo persuadido a la multitud, apedrearon a Pablo y lo arrastraron fuera de la ciudad, pensando que estaba muerto.

20 B ut while the disciples encircled him, he rose up and entered into the city. And on the morrow he went away with Barnabas to Derbe.

Pero mientras los discípulos lo rodeaban, él se levantó y entró en la ciudad. Al día siguiente Pablo partió con Bernabé a Derbe.

21 A nd having announced the glad tidings to that city, and having made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, and Iconium, and Antioch,

Después de anunciar el evangelio a aquella ciudad y de hacer muchos discípulos, volvieron a Listra, a Iconio y a Antioquía,

22 e stablishing the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to abide in the faith, and that through many tribulations we must enter into the kingdom of God.

fortaleciendo los ánimos (las almas) de los discípulos, exhortándolos a que perseveraran en la fe, y diciendo: “Es necesario que a través de muchas tribulaciones entremos en el reino de Dios.”

23 A nd having chosen them elders in each assembly, having prayed with fastings, they committed them to the Lord, on whom they had believed.

Después que les designaron ancianos en cada iglesia, habiendo orado con ayunos, los encomendaron al Señor en quien habían creído.

24 A nd having passed through Pisidia they came to Pamphylia,

Pasaron por Pisidia y llegaron a Panfilia.

25 a nd having spoken the word in Perga, they came down to Attalia;

Después de predicar la palabra en Perge, descendieron a Atalia;

26 a nd thence they sailed away to Antioch, whence they had been committed to the grace of God for the work which they had fulfilled.

y de allí se embarcaron para Antioquía, donde habían sido encomendados a la gracia de Dios para la obra que habían cumplido.

27 A nd having arrived, and having brought together the assembly, they related to them all that God had done with them, and that he had opened a door of faith to the nations.

Cuando llegaron y reunieron a la iglesia, informaron de todas las cosas que Dios había hecho con ellos, y cómo había abierto a los Gentiles la puerta de la fe.

28 A nd they stayed no little time with the disciples.

Y se quedaron mucho tiempo con los discípulos.
