1 O God, with our ears have we heard, our fathers have told us, the work thou wroughtest in their days, in the days of old:

Oh Dios, con nuestros oídos hemos oído, Nuestros padres nos han contado La obra que hiciste en sus días, En los tiempos antiguos:

2 T hou, by thy hand, didst dispossess the nations, but them thou didst plant; thou didst afflict the peoples, but them didst thou cause to spread out.

Tú con Tu mano echaste fuera las naciones, Pero a ellos los plantaste. Afligiste a los pueblos, Pero a ellos los hiciste crecer.

3 F or not by their own sword did they take possession of the land, neither did their own arm save them; but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst delight in them.

Pues no fue por su espada que tomaron posesión de la tierra, Ni fue su brazo el que los salvó, Sino Tu diestra y Tu brazo, y la luz de Tu presencia, Porque Te complaciste en ellos.

4 T hou thyself art my king, O God: command deliverance for Jacob.

Tú eres mi Rey, oh Dios; Manda victorias a Jacob.

5 T hrough thee will we push down our adversaries; through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.

Contigo rechazaremos a nuestros adversarios; En Tu nombre pisotearemos a los que contra nosotros se levanten.

6 F or I will not put confidence in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.

Porque yo no confiaré en mi arco, Ni me podrá salvar mi espada;

7 F or thou hast saved us from our adversaries, and hast put them to shame that hate us.

Pues Tú nos has salvado de nuestros adversarios, Y has avergonzado a los que nos aborrecen.

8 I n God will we boast all the day, and we will praise thy name for ever. Selah.

En Dios nos hemos gloriado todo el día. Por siempre alabaremos Tu nombre. (Selah)

9 B ut thou hast cast off, and put us to confusion, and dost not go forth with our armies;

Sin embargo, Tú nos has rechazado y nos has confundido, Y no sales con nuestros ejércitos.

10 T hou hast made us to turn back from the adversary, and they that hate us spoil for themselves;

Nos haces retroceder ante el adversario, Y los que nos aborrecen tomaron botín para sí.

11 T hou hast given us over like sheep for meat, and hast scattered us among the nations;

Nos entregas como ovejas para ser devorados, Y nos has esparcido entre las naciones.

12 T hou hast sold thy people for nought, and hast not increased by their price;

Vendes a Tu pueblo a bajo precio, Y nada has ganado con su venta.

13 T hou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a mockery and a derision for them that are round about us;

Nos haces el oprobio de nuestros vecinos, Escarnio y burla de los que nos rodean.

14 T hou makest us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.

Nos pones por proverbio entre las naciones, Causa de risa entre los pueblos.

15 A ll the day my confusion is before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,

Todo el día mi ignominia está delante de mí, Y la vergüenza de mi rostro me ha abrumado

16 B ecause of the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and the avenger.

Por la voz del que me reprocha e insulta, Por la presencia del enemigo y del vengativo.

17 A ll this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely against thy covenant:

Todo esto nos ha sobrevenido, pero no nos hemos olvidado de Ti, Ni hemos faltado a Tu pacto.

18 O ur heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy path;

No se ha vuelto atrás nuestro corazón, Ni se han desviado nuestros pasos de Tu senda;

19 T hough thou hast crushed us in the place of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death.

Sin embargo, nos has quebrantado en la región de los chacales, Y nos has cubierto con la sombra de la muerte.

20 I f we had forgotten the name of our God, and stretched out our hands to a strange god,

Si nos hubiéramos olvidado del nombre de nuestro Dios, O extendido nuestras manos a un dios extraño,

21 W ould not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

¿No se habría dado cuenta Dios de esto? Pues El conoce los secretos del corazón.

22 B ut for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are reckoned as sheep for slaughter.

Pero por causa Tuya nos matan cada día; Se nos considera como ovejas para el matadero.

23 A wake, why sleepest thou, Lord? arise, cast not off for ever.

¡Despierta! ¿Por qué duermes, Señor ? ¡Levántate! No nos rechaces para siempre.

24 W herefore hidest thou thy face, forgettest our affliction and our oppression?

¿Por qué escondes Tu rostro Y te olvidas de nuestra aflicción y de nuestra opresión ?

25 F or our soul is bowed down to the dust; our belly cleaveth unto the earth.

Porque nuestra alma se ha hundido en el polvo; Nuestro cuerpo está pegado a la tierra.

26 R ise up for our help, and redeem us for thy loving-kindness' sake.

¡Levántate! Sé nuestra ayuda, Y redímenos por amor de Tu misericordia.
