1 H ear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know intelligence;

5 G et wisdom, get intelligence: forget not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

Adquiere sabiduría, adquiere inteligencia; No te olvides ni te apartes de las palabras de mi boca.

6 F orsake her not, and she shall keep thee; love her, and she shall preserve thee.

No la abandones y ella velará sobre ti; Amala y ella te protegerá.

7 T he beginning of wisdom, Get wisdom; and with all thy getting get intelligence.

Lo principal es la sabiduría; adquiere sabiduría, Y con todo lo que obtengas adquiere inteligencia.

8 E xalt her, and she shall promote thee; she shall bring thee to honour when thou dost embrace her.

Estímala, y ella te ensalzará; Ella te honrará si tú la abrazas;

9 S he shall give to thy head a garland of grace; a crown of glory will she bestow upon thee.

Guirnalda de gracia pondrá en tu cabeza, Corona de hermosura te entregará.”

10 H ear, my son, and receive my sayings, and the years of thy life shall be multiplied.

Oye, hijo mío, recibe mis palabras, Y muchos serán los años de tu vida.

11 I will teach thee in the way of wisdom, I will lead thee in paths of uprightness.

Por el camino de la sabiduría te he conducido, Por sendas de rectitud te he guiado.

12 W hen thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

Cuando andes, tus pasos no serán obstruidos, Y si corres, no tropezarás.

13 T ake fast hold of instruction, let not go: keep her, for she is thy life.

Aférrate a la instrucción, no la sueltes; Guárdala, porque ella es tu vida.

14 E nter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil:

No entres en la senda de los impíos, Ni vayas por el camino de los malvados.

15 a void it, pass not by it; turn from it, and pass away.

Evítalo, no pases por él; Apártate de él y sigue adelante.

16 F or they sleep not except they have done mischief, and their sleep is taken away unless they have caused to fall.

Porque ellos no duermen a menos que hagan lo malo, Y pierden el sueño si no han hecho caer a alguien.

17 F or they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.

Porque comen pan de maldad, Y beben vino de violencia.

18 B ut the path of the righteous is as the shining light, going on and brightening until the day be fully come.

Pero la senda de los justos es como la luz de la aurora, Que va aumentando en resplandor hasta que es pleno día.

19 T he way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

El camino de los impíos es como las tinieblas, No saben en qué tropiezan.

20 M y son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

Hijo mío, presta atención a mis palabras; Inclina tu oído a mis razones.

21 L et them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thy heart.

Que no se aparten de tus ojos; Guárdalas en medio de tu corazón.

22 F or they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

Porque son vida para los que las hallan, Y salud para todo su cuerpo.

23 K eep thy heart more than anything that is guarded; for out of it are the issues of life.

Con toda diligencia guarda tu corazón, Porque de él brotan los manantiales de la vida.

24 P ut away from thee perverseness of mouth, and corrupt lips put far from thee.

Aparta de ti la boca perversa Y aleja de ti los labios falsos.

25 L et thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

Miren tus ojos hacia adelante, Y que tu mirada se fije en lo que está frente a ti.

26 P onder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be well-ordered.

Fíjate en el sendero de tus pies, Y todos tus caminos serán establecidos.

27 T urn not to the right hand nor to the left; remove thy foot from evil.

No te desvíes a la derecha ni a la izquierda; Aparta tu pie del mal.
