1 A nd after Abimelech, there rose up to save Israel Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir on mount Ephraim.

Después de la muerte de Abimelec para salvar a Israel se levantó Tola, hijo de Puá, hijo de Dodo, varón de Isacar. Y habitó en Samir, en la región montañosa de Efraín.

2 A nd he judged Israel twenty-three years; and he died, and was buried in Shamir.

Tola juzgó a Israel veintitrés años. Y murió y fue sepultado en Samir.

3 A nd after him rose up Jair, a Gileadite; and he judged Israel twenty-two years.

Y tras él se levantó Jair el Galaadita, y juzgó a Israel veintidós años.

4 A nd he had thirty sons who rode on thirty ass colts; and they had thirty cities, which are called the villages of Jair to this day, which are in the land of Gilead.

Este tuvo treinta hijos que cabalgaban en treinta asnos, y tenían treinta ciudades en la tierra de Galaad que se llaman Havot Jair (las aldeas de Jair) hasta hoy.

5 A nd Jair died, and was buried in Kamon.

Y murió Jair, y fue sepultado en Camón. Opresión Amonita

6 A nd the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of Jehovah, and served the Baals, and the Ashtoreths, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines; and they forsook Jehovah, and served him not.

Pero los Israelitas volvieron a hacer lo malo ante los ojos del Señor. Sirvieron a los Baales, a Astarot, a los dioses de Aram, a los dioses de Sidón, a los dioses de Moab, a los dioses de los Amonitas y a los dioses de los Filisteos. Abandonaron, pues, al Señor y no le sirvieron.

7 A nd the anger of Jehovah was hot against Israel, and he sold him into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the children of Ammon.

Entonces se encendió la ira del Señor contra Israel, y los entregó en manos de los Filisteos y en manos de los Amonitas.

8 A nd they oppressed and crushed the children of Israel in that year; eighteen years all the children of Israel that were beyond the Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.

Y ellos afligieron y quebrantaron a los Israelitas ese año. Y por dieciocho años oprimieron a todos los Israelitas que estaban al otro lado del Jordán, en Galaad, en la tierra de los Amorreos.

9 A nd the children of Ammon passed over the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; and Israel was greatly distressed.

Los Amonitas cruzaron el Jordán para pelear también contra Judá, contra Benjamín y contra la casa de Efraín, y se angustió Israel en gran manera.

10 A nd the children of Israel cried to Jehovah, saying, We have sinned against thee, both because we have forsaken our God, and also served the Baals.

Entonces los Israelitas clamaron al Señor: “Hemos pecado contra Ti, porque ciertamente hemos abandonado a nuestro Dios y hemos servido a los Baales.”

11 A nd Jehovah said to the children of Israel, Did I not from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines?

Y el Señor respondió a los Israelitas: “¿No los libré Yo de los Egipcios, de los Amorreos, de los Amonitas y de los Filisteos?

12 T he Zidonians also, and Amalek and Maon oppressed you, and ye cried to me, and I saved you out of their hand.

Cuando los Sidonios, los Amalecitas y los Maonitas los oprimían, clamaron a Mí, y Yo los libré de sus manos.

13 B ut ye have forsaken me, and served other gods; therefore I will save you no more.

Pero ustedes Me han dejado y han servido a otros dioses. Por tanto, no los libraré más.

14 G o and cry to the gods that ye have chosen: let them save you in the time of your trouble.

Vayan y clamen a los dioses que han escogido; que ellos los libren en el tiempo de su aflicción.”

15 A nd the children of Israel said to Jehovah, We have sinned. Do thou unto us according to all that is good in thy sight; only deliver us, we pray thee, this day.

Los Israelitas respondieron al Señor: “Hemos pecado, haz con nosotros como bien te parezca. Sólo te rogamos que nos libres en este día.”

16 A nd they put away the strange gods from among them, and served Jehovah; and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.

Y quitaron los dioses extranjeros de en medio de ellos y sirvieron al Señor. Y El no pudo soportar más la angustia de Israel.

17 A nd the children of Ammon were called together and encamped in Gilead; and the children of Israel gathered together and encamped in Mizpeh.

Entonces los Amonitas se reunieron y acamparon en Galaad, y los Israelitas se juntaron y acamparon en Mizpa.

18 A nd the people, the chief men of Gilead, said one to another, Who is the man that will begin to fight against the children of Ammon? he shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.

Y el pueblo, los jefes de Galaad, se dijeron unos a otros: “¿Quién es el hombre que comenzará la batalla contra los Amonitas? El será caudillo de todos los habitantes de Galaad.”
