1 B ut concerning the things of which ye have written: good for a man not to touch a woman;

Acerca de lo que me habéis preguntado por escrito, digo: Bueno le sería al hombre no tocar mujer.

2 b ut on account of fornications, let each have his own wife, and each have her own husband.

Sin embargo, por causa de las fornicaciones tenga cada uno su propia mujer, y tenga cada una su propio marido.

3 L et the husband render her due to the wife, and in like manner the wife to the husband.

El marido debe cumplir con su mujer el deber conyugal, y asimismo la mujer con su marido.

4 T he wife has not authority over her own body, but the husband: in like manner also the husband has not authority over his own body, but the wife.

La mujer no tiene dominio sobre su propio cuerpo, sino el marido; ni tampoco tiene el marido dominio sobre su propio cuerpo, sino la mujer.

5 D efraud not one another, unless, it may be, by consent for a time, that ye may devote yourselves to prayer, and again be together, that Satan tempt you not because of your incontinency.

No os neguéis el uno al otro, a no ser por algún tiempo de mutuo consentimiento, para ocuparos sosegadamente en la oración. Luego volved a juntaros en uno, para que no os tiente Satanás a causa de vuestra incontinencia.

6 B ut this I say, as consenting, not as commanding.

Pero esto lo digo más como concesión que como mandamiento.

7 N ow I wish all men to be even as myself: but every one has his own gift of God: one man thus, and another thus.

Quisiera más bien que todos los hombres fueran como yo; pero cada uno tiene su propio don de Dios, uno a la verdad de un modo, y otro de otro.

8 B ut I say to the unmarried and to the widows, It is good for them that they remain even as I.

Digo, pues, a los solteros y a las viudas, que bueno les sería quedarse como yo;

9 B ut if they have not control over themselves, let them marry; for it is better to marry than to burn.

pero si no tienen don de continencia, cásense, pues mejor es casarse que estarse quemando.

10 B ut to the married I enjoin, not I, but the Lord, Let not wife be separated from husband;

A los que están unidos en matrimonio, mando, no yo, sino el Señor, que la mujer no se separe del marido;

11 ( but if also she shall have been separated, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband;) and let not husband leave wife.

y si se separa, quédese sin casar o reconcíliese con su marido; y que el marido no abandone a su mujer.

12 B ut as to the rest, I say, not the Lord, If any brother have an unbelieving wife, and she consent to dwell with him, let him not leave her.

A los demás yo digo, no el Señor, que si algún hermano tiene una mujer que no es creyente, y ella consiente en vivir con él, no la abandone.

13 A nd a woman who has an unbelieving husband, and he consents to dwell with her, let her not leave husband.

Y si una mujer tiene marido que no es creyente, y él consiente en vivir con ella, no lo abandone,

14 F or the unbelieving husband is sanctified in the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified in the brother; since indeed your children are unclean, but now they are holy.

porque el marido no creyente es santificado por la mujer; y la mujer no creyente, por el marido. De otra manera vuestros hijos serían impuros, mientras que ahora son santos.

15 B ut if the unbeliever go away, let them go away; a brother or a sister is not bound in such, but God has called us in peace.

Pero si el no creyente se separa, sepárese, pues no está el hermano o la hermana sujeto a servidumbre en semejante caso, sino que a vivir en paz nos llamó Dios.

16 F or what knowest thou, O wife, if thou shalt save thy husband? or what knowest thou, O husband, if thou shalt save thy wife?

¿Qué sabes tú, mujer, si quizá harás salvo a tu marido? ¿O qué sabes tú, marido, si quizá harás salva a tu mujer?

17 H owever, as the Lord has divided to each, as God has called each, so let him walk; and thus I ordain in all the assemblies.

Pero cada uno viva según los dones que el Señor le repartió y según era cuando Dios lo llamó: esto ordeno en todas las iglesias.

18 H as any one been called circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised: has any one been called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised.

¿Fue llamado alguno siendo circunciso? Quédese circunciso. ¿Fue llamado alguno siendo incircunciso? No se circuncide.

19 C ircumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing; but keeping God's commandments.

La circuncisión nada significa, y la incircuncisión nada significa; lo que importa es guardar los mandamientos de Dios.

20 L et each abide in that calling in which he has been called.

Cada uno debe quedarse en el estado en que fue llamado.

21 H ast thou been called a bondman, let it not concern thee; but and if thou canst become free, use rather.

¿Fuiste llamado siendo esclavo? No te preocupes, aunque si tienes oportunidad de hacerte libre, aprovéchala,

22 F or the bondman that is called in Lord is the Lord's freedman; in like manner the freeman being called is Christ's bondman.

porque el que en el Señor fue llamado siendo esclavo, liberto es del Señor; asimismo el que fue llamado siendo libre, esclavo es de Cristo.

23 Y e have been bought with a price; do not be the bondmen of men.

Por precio fuisteis comprados; no os hagáis esclavos de los hombres.

24 L et each, wherein he is called, brethren, therein abide with God.

Cada uno, hermanos, en el estado en que fue llamado, así permanezca para con Dios.

25 B ut concerning virgins, I have no commandment of Lord; but I give my opinion, as having received mercy of Lord to be faithful.

En cuanto a las vírgenes no tengo mandamiento del Señor, pero doy mi parecer como quien ha alcanzado misericordia del Señor para ser digno de confianza.

26 I think then that this is good, on account of the present necessity, that good for a man to remain so as he is.

Tengo, pues, esto por bueno a causa de las dificultades del tiempo presente: que hará bien el hombre en quedarse como está.

27 A rt thou bound to a wife? seek not to be loosed; art thou free from a wife? do not seek a wife.

¿Estás ligado a mujer? No trates de soltarte. ¿Estás libre de mujer? No trates de casarte.

28 B ut if thou shouldest also marry, thou hast not sinned; and if the virgin marry, they have not sinned: but such shall have tribulation in the flesh; but I spare you.

Ahora bien, si te casas, no pecas; y si la doncella se casa, no peca; pero los que se casan tendrán aflicción de la carne, y yo os la quisiera evitar.

29 B ut this I say, brethren, the time is straitened. For the rest, that they who have wives, be as not having:

Pero esto digo, hermanos: que el tiempo es corto. Resta, pues, que los que tienen esposa sean como si no la tuvieran;

30 a nd they that weep, as not weeping; and they that rejoice, as not rejoicing; and they that buy, as not possessing;

los que lloran, como si no lloraran; los que se alegran, como si no se alegraran; los que compran, como si no poseyeran,

31 a nd they that use the world, as not disposing of it as their own; for the fashion of this world passes.

y los que disfrutan de este mundo, como si no lo disfrutaran, porque la apariencia de este mundo es pasajera.

32 B ut I wish you to be without care. The unmarried cares for the things of the Lord, how he shall please the Lord;

Quisiera, pues, que estuvierais sin congoja. El soltero se preocupa por las cosas del Señor, de cómo agradar al Señor;

33 b ut he that has married cares for the things of the world, how he shall please his wife.

pero el casado se preocupa por las cosas del mundo, de cómo agradar a su mujer.

34 T here is a difference between the wife and the virgin. The unmarried cares for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and spirit; but she that has married cares for the things of the world, how she shall please her husband.

Hay asimismo diferencia entre la casada y la doncella. La doncella se preocupa por las cosas del Señor, para ser santa tanto en cuerpo como en espíritu; pero la casada se preocupa por las cosas del mundo, de cómo agradar a su marido.

35 B ut I say this for your own profit; not that I may set a snare before you, but for what seemly, and waiting on the Lord without distraction.

Esto lo digo para vuestro provecho; no para tenderos lazo, sino para lo honesto y decente, y para que sin impedimento os acerquéis al Señor.

36 B ut if any one think that he behaves unseemly to his virginity, if he be beyond the flower of his age, and so it must be, let him do what he will, he does not sin: let them marry.

Pero si alguno piensa que es impropio que a su hija virgen se le pase la edad, y que es necesario casarla, haga lo que quiera, no peca: que se case.

37 B ut he who stands firm in his heart, having no need, but has authority over his own will, and has judged this in his heart to keep his own virginity, he does well.

Pero el que está firme en su corazón, sin tener compromiso que lo obligue, sino que, dueño de su propia voluntad, ha resuelto en su corazón guardar virgen a su hija, bien hace.

38 S o that he that marries himself does well; and he that does not marry does better.

De manera que el que la da en casamiento hace bien, pero el que no la da en casamiento hace mejor.

39 A wife is bound for whatever time her husband lives; but if the husband be fallen asleep, she is free to be married to whom she will, only in Lord.

La mujer casada está ligada a su marido por la ley mientras él vive; pero si su marido muere, queda libre para casarse con quien quiera, con tal que sea en el Señor.

40 B ut she is happier if she so remain, according to my judgment; but I think that I also have God's Spirit.

Pero, a mi juicio, más dichosa será si se queda así; y pienso que también yo tengo el Espíritu de Dios.
