1 A nd David said, This is the house of Jehovah Elohim, and this is the altar of burnt-offering for Israel.

Y dijo David: «Aquí estará la casa de Jehová Dios, y aquí el altar del holocausto para Israel.» Preparativos para la edificación del Templo

2 A nd David commanded to collect the strangers that were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to hew wrought stones to build the house of God.

Después mandó David que se reuniera a los extranjeros que había en la tierra de Israel, y señaló de entre ellos canteros que labraran piedras para edificar la casa de Dios.

3 A nd David prepared iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the joists, and brass in abundance without weight;

Asimismo preparó David mucho hierro para los clavos de las puertas y para las junturas; y también una incalculable cantidad de bronce, y madera de cedro sin cuenta,

4 a nd cedar-trees innumerable; for the Zidonians and they of Tyre brought cedar-wood in abundance to David.

pues los sidonios y tirios habían traído a David abundante madera de cedro.

5 F or David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be built for Jehovah must be exceeding great in fame and in beauty in all lands: I will therefore make preparation for it. And David prepared abundantly before his death.

David se decía: «Salomón, mi hijo, es muchacho y de tierna edad, y la Casa que se ha de edificar a Jehová ha de ser magnífica por su excelencia, para renombre y honra suya en todas las tierras; ahora, pues, yo haré los preparativos necesarios.» E hizo David grandes preparativos antes de su muerte.

6 A nd he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build a house for Jehovah the God of Israel.

Llamó entonces David a Salomón, su hijo, y le mandó que edificara Casa a Jehová, Dios de Israel.

7 A nd David said to Solomon, As for me, my son, I was minded to build a house unto the name of Jehovah my God.

Y dijo David a Salomón: «Hijo mío, en mi corazón tuve el propósito de edificar un templo dedicado al nombre de Jehová, mi Dios.

8 B ut the word of Jehovah came to me saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build a house unto my name, for thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight.

Pero recibí palabra de Jehová, que decía: “Tú has derramado mucha sangre y has hecho grandes guerras; no edificarás Casa a mi nombre, porque has derramado mucha sangre en la tierra delante de mí.

9 B ehold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about; for his name shall be Solomon, and in his days I will give peace and quietness unto Israel.

Mira que te nacerá un hijo, el cual será hombre de paz, pues yo le haré estar en paz con todos sus enemigos en derredor; por tanto, su nombre será Salomón, y en sus días concederé paz y reposo a Israel.

10 H e shall build a house unto my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.

Él edificará una Casa a mi nombre; será para mí un hijo, y yo seré para él un padre; y afirmaré el trono de su reino sobre Israel para siempre.”

11 N ow, my son, Jehovah be with thee, that thou mayest prosper, and build the house of Jehovah thy God, as he has said of thee.

Ahora pues, hijo mío, Jehová esté contigo, y seas prosperado, para que edifiques la Casa a Jehová tu Dios, como él ha dicho de ti.

12 O nly, Jehovah give thee wisdom and understanding, and place thee over Israel, and to keep the law of Jehovah thy God.

Que Jehová te dé entendimiento y prudencia, para que cuando gobiernes a Israel guardes la ley de Jehová, tu Dios.

13 T hen shalt thou prosper, if thou takest heed to perform the statutes and ordinances which Jehovah commanded Moses for Israel: be strong and courageous; fear not, neither be dismayed.

Entonces serás prosperado, si cuidas de poner por obra los estatutos y decretos que Jehová mandó a Moisés para Israel. Esfuérzate, pues, y cobra ánimo; no temas, ni desmayes.

14 A nd behold, in my affliction I have prepared for the house of Jehovah a hundred thousand talents of gold, and a thousand thousand talents of silver; and of brass and iron without weight, for it is in abundance; and timber and stone have I prepared; and thou shalt add to it.

Mira, yo con grandes esfuerzos he preparado para la casa de Jehová cien mil talentos de oro, un millón de talentos de plata, y bronce y hierro sin medida, pues es mucho. Asimismo he preparado madera y piedra, lo cual tú podrás aumentar.

15 A nd there are workmen with thee in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all manner of skilful men for every kind of work.

Tienes contigo muchos obreros, canteros, albañiles, carpinteros, hombres expertos en toda clase de obra.

16 O f the gold, the silver, and the brass, and the iron, there is no number. Arise and be doing and Jehovah be with thee.

Del oro, de la plata, del bronce y del hierro, hay en abundancia. Levántate y manos a la obra; que Jehová esté contigo.»

17 A nd David commanded all the princes of Israel to help Solomon his son,

Asimismo mandó David a todos los principales de Israel que ayudaran a Salomón, su hijo, diciendo:

18 I s not Jehovah your God with you? and has he given you rest on every side? for he has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand; and the land is subdued before Jehovah, and before his people.

«¿No está con vosotros Jehová, vuestro Dios, el cual os ha dado paz por todas partes? Porque él ha entregado en mis manos a los habitantes de la tierra, y la tierra ha sido sometida delante de Jehová y delante de su pueblo.

19 N ow set your heart and your soul to seek Jehovah your God; and arise and build the sanctuary of Jehovah Elohim, to bring the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and the vessels of the sanctuary of God into the house that is to be built unto the name of Jehovah.

Aplicad, pues, ahora vuestros corazones y vuestras almas a buscar a Jehová, vuestro Dios. Levantaos y edificad el santuario de Jehová Dios, para traer el Arca del pacto de Jehová, y los utensilios consagrados a Dios, a la casa edificada al nombre de Jehová.»
