1 B etter is a poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.

2 A lso that a person be without knowledge is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet maketh false steps.

El alma sin ciencia no es buena, y aquel que se precipita, peca.

3 T he folly of man distorteth his way, and his heart is irritated against Jehovah.

La insensatez del hombre tuerce su camino y luego se irrita su corazón contra Jehová.

4 W ealth addeth many friends; but the poor is separated from his friend.

Las riquezas atraen muchos amigos, pero el pobre, hasta de su amigo es apartado.

5 A false witness shall not be held innocent, and he that uttereth lies shall not escape.

El testigo falso no quedará sin castigo, y el que dice mentiras no escapará.

6 M any court the favour of a noble; and every one is friend to a man that giveth.

Muchos buscan el favor del generoso, y todos son amigos del hombre que da.

7 A ll the brethren of a poor hate him; how much more do his friends go far from him: he pursueth with words,—they are not.

Si todos los hermanos del pobre lo aborrecen, ¡cuánto más sus amigos se alejarán de él! Buscará una palabra y no la hallará.

8 H e that getteth sense loveth his own soul; he that keepeth understanding shall find good.

El que posee entendimiento ama su alma; el que cuida la inteligencia hallará el bien.

9 A false witness shall not be held innocent, and he that uttereth lies shall perish.

El testigo falso no quedará sin castigo, y el que dice mentiras perecerá.

10 G ood living beseemeth not a fool; how much less for a servant to have rule over princes.

No es propio de un necio vivir entre lujos, ¡cuánto menos que un esclavo sea señor de los príncipes!

11 T he discretion of a man maketh him slow to anger, and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

La cordura del hombre aplaca su furor, y un honor le es pasar por alto la ofensa.

12 T he king's displeasure is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.

Como el rugido de un cachorro de león es la ira del rey, y su favor, como el rocío sobre la hierba.

13 A foolish son is the calamity of his father; and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.

Dolor es para el padre un hijo necio y gotera continua las contiendas de la mujer.

14 H ouse and wealth are an inheritance from fathers; but a prudent wife is from Jehovah.

La casa y las riquezas son herencia de los padres, pero don de Jehová es la mujer prudente.

15 S lothfulness casteth into a deep sleep, and the idle soul shall suffer hunger.

La pereza hace caer en profundo sueño y la persona negligente padecerá hambre.

16 H e that keepeth the commandment keepeth his soul; he that is careless of his ways shall die.

El que guarda el mandamiento guarda su vida, pero morirá el que menosprecia los caminos de Jehová.

17 H e that is gracious to the poor lendeth unto Jehovah; and what he hath bestowed will he repay unto him.

A Jehová presta el que da al pobre; el bien que ha hecho se lo devolverá.

18 C hasten thy son, seeing there is hope; but set not thy soul upon killing him.

Castiga a tu hijo mientras haya esperanza, pero no se excite tu ánimo hasta destruirlo.

19 A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment; for if thou deliver, yet thou must do it again.

El que se deja arrebatar por la ira llevará el castigo, y si usa de violencias, añadirá nuevos males.

20 H ear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

Escucha el consejo y acepta la corrección: así serás sabio en tu vejez.

21 M any are the thoughts in a man's heart, but the counsel of Jehovah, that doth stand.

Muchos pensamientos hay en el corazón del hombre, pero el consejo de Jehová es el que permanece.

22 T he charm of a man is his kindness; and a poor is better than a liar.

Una satisfacción es para el hombre hacer misericordia, y mejor es un pobre que un mentiroso.

23 T he fear of Jehovah to life, and he shall rest satisfied without being visited with evil.

El temor de Jehová lleva a la vida: con él vive del todo tranquilo el hombre y no es visitado por el mal.

24 A sluggard burieth his hand in the dish, and will not even bring it to his mouth again.

El perezoso mete su mano en el plato, pero ni aun es capaz de llevársela a la boca.

25 S mite a scorner, and the simple will beware; reprove the intelligent, and he will understand knowledge.

Hiere al escarnecedor y el ingenuo se hará precavido; corrige al inteligente y aumentará su conocimiento.

26 H e that ruineth father and chaseth away mother is a son that causeth shame and bringeth reproach.

El que roba a su padre y ahuyenta a su madre es un hijo que causa vergüenza y acarrea oprobio.

27 C ease, my son, to hear the instruction which causeth to stray from the words of knowledge.

Cesa, hijo mío, de prestar oído a enseñanzas que te hacen divagar de la sabiduría.

28 A witness of Belial scorneth judgment, and the mouth of the wicked swalloweth down iniquity.

El testigo perverso se burla del juicio; la boca de los malvados encubre la iniquidad.

29 J udgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of the foolish.

Preparados hay juicios para los escarnecedores y azotes para las espaldas de los necios.
