1 P aul and Timothy, bond servants of Christ Jesus (the Messiah), to all the saints (God’s consecrated people) in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the bishops (overseers) and deacons (assistants):

2 G race (favor and blessing) to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah).

Gracia y paz tengáis de Dios nuestro Padre y del Señor Jesús el Cristo.

3 I thank my God in all my remembrance of you.

¶ Doy gracias a mi Dios en toda memoria de vosotros,

4 I n every prayer of mine I always make my entreaty and petition for you all with joy (delight).

siempre en todas mis oraciones haciendo oración por todos vosotros con gozo,

5 f or your fellowship (your sympathetic cooperation and contributions and partnership) in advancing the good news (the Gospel) from the first day until now.

por vuestra comunión en el Evangelio, desde el primer día hasta ahora.

6 A nd I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ, developing and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.

Confiando de esto: que el que comenzó en vosotros la buena obra, la perfeccionará hasta el día de Jesús el Cristo;

7 I t is right and appropriate for me to have this confidence and feel this way about you all, because you have me in your heart and I hold you in my heart as partakers and sharers, one and all with me, of grace (God’s unmerited favor and spiritual blessing). both when I am shut up in prison and when I am out in the defense and confirmation of the good news (the Gospel).

¶ como me es justo sentir esto de todos vosotros, por cuanto os tengo en el corazón; y en mis prisiones, y en la defensa y confirmación del Evangelio, sois todos vosotros compañeros de mi gracia.

8 F or God is my witness how I long for and pursue you all with love, in the tender mercy of Christ Jesus!

Porque Dios me es testigo de cómo os quiero a todos vosotros en las entrañas de Jesús el Cristo.

9 A nd this I pray: that your love may abound yet more and more and extend to its fullest development in knowledge and all keen insight '> display itself in greater depth of acquaintance and more comprehensive discernment],

¶ Y esto oro: que vuestra caridad abunde aún más y más en ciencia y en toda percepción,

10 S o that you may surely learn to sense what is vital, and approve and prize what is excellent and of real value, and that you may be untainted and pure and unerring and blameless the day of Christ.

para que aprobéis lo mejor; que seáis sinceros y sin ofensa para el día del Cristo;

11 M ay you abound in and be filled with the fruits of righteousness (of right standing with God and right doing) which come through Jesus Christ (the Anointed One), to the honor and praise of God '> that His glory may be both manifested and recognized].

llenos de fruto de justicia, que son por Jesús el Cristo, a gloria y loor de Dios.

12 N ow I want you to know and continue to rest assured, brethren, that what to me has actually only served to advance and give a renewed impetus to the good news (the Gospel).

¶ Y quiero, hermanos, que sepáis que las cosas que me han sucedido, han redundado más en provecho del Evangelio;

13 S o much is this a fact that throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest my imprisonment has become generally known to be in Christ.

de manera que mis prisiones han sido célebres en Cristo en todo el pretorio, y en todos los demás lugares;

14 A nd most of the brethren have derived fresh confidence in the Lord because of my chains and are much more bold to speak and publish fearlessly the Word of God.

y muchos de los hermanos, tomando ánimo con mis prisiones, se atreven mucho más a hablar la palabra de Dios sin temor.

15 S ome, it is true, preach Christ (the Messiah) out of envy and rivalry (party spirit), but others are doing so out of a loyal spirit and goodwill.

Y algunos, a la verdad, predican al Cristo por envidia y porfía; mas otros también por buena voluntad.

16 T he latter out of love, because they recognize and know that I am put here for the defense of the good news (the Gospel).

Los unos anuncian al Cristo por contención, no sinceramente, pensando añadir tribulación a mis prisiones;

17 B ut the former preach Christ out of a party spirit, insincerely, supposing they are making my bondage more bitter and my chains more galling.

pero los otros por caridad, sabiendo que soy puesto en ellas por la defensa del Evangelio.

18 B ut what does it matter, so long as either way, whether in pretense or in all honesty, Christ is being proclaimed? And in that I rejoice, yes, and I shall rejoice also.

¿Qué pues? Que no obstante, en todas maneras, o por pretexto o por verdad, es anunciado el Cristo; y en esto también me gozo, y aun me gozaré.

19 F or I am well assured and indeed know that through your prayers and a bountiful supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ (the Messiah) this will turn out for my preservation (for the spiritual health and welfare of my own soul) and avail toward the saving work of the Gospel.

Porque sé que esto se me tornará en salud, por vuestra oración, y por la alimentación del Espíritu de Jesús el Cristo;

20 T his is in keeping with my own eager desire and persistent expectation and hope, that I shall not disgrace myself nor be put to shame in anything; but that with the utmost freedom of speech and unfailing courage, now as always heretofore, Christ (the Messiah) will be magnified and get glory and praise in this body of mine and be boldly exalted in my person, whether through (by) life or through (by) death.

conforme a mi deseo y esperanza, que en nada seré avergonzado; antes bien con toda confianza, como siempre, ahora también será engrandecido el Cristo en mi cuerpo, o por vida, o por muerte.

21 F or me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

¶ Porque para mí el vivir es Cristo y el morir, ganancia.

22 I f, however, it is to be life in the flesh and I am to live on here, that means fruitful service for me; so I can say nothing as to my personal preference,

Mas si viviere en la carne, esto me será para fruto de la obra, (y no sé entonces qué escoger;

23 B ut I am hard pressed between the two. My yearning desire is to depart (to be free of this world, to set forth) and be with Christ, for that is far, far better;

porque de ambas cosas estoy puesto en estrecho) teniendo deseo de ser desatado, y estar con Cristo, lo cual es mucho mejor;

24 B ut to remain in my body is more needful and essential for your sake.

pero quedar en la carne es más necesario por causa de vosotros.

25 S ince I am convinced of this, I know that I shall remain and stay by you all, to promote your progress and joy in believing,

Y confiado en esto, sé que quedaré, que aún permaneceré con todos vosotros, para provecho vuestro y gozo de la fe;

26 S o that in me you may have abundant cause for exultation and glorying in Christ Jesus, through my coming to you again.

para que puedan gloriarsen más en Cristo Jesús por mi venida otra vez a vosotros.

27 O nly be sure as citizens so to conduct yourselves your manner of life worthy of the good news (the Gospel) of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear this of you: that you are standing firm in united spirit and purpose, striving side by side and contending with a single mind for the faith of the glad tidings (the Gospel).

¶ Solamente que converséis como es digno del Evangelio del Cristo; para que, o sea que vaya a veros, o que esté ausente, oiga de vosotros que estáis firmes en un mismo espíritu, unánimes obrando juntamente por la fe del Evangelio,

28 A nd do not be frightened or intimidated in anything by your opponents and adversaries, for such will be a clear sign (proof and seal) to them of destruction, but of your deliverance and salvation, and that from God.

y en nada intimidados de los que se oponen; que a ellos ciertamente es indicio de perdición, mas a vosotros de salud; y esto de Dios;

29 F or you have been granted for Christ’s sake not only to believe in (adhere to, rely on, and trust in) Him, but also to suffer in His behalf.

porque a vosotros es concedido acerca de Cristo, no sólo que creáis en él, sino también que padezcáis por él,

30 S o you are engaged in the same conflict which you saw me and which you now hear to be mine.

Teniendo el mismo conflicto que habéis visto en mí, y ahora oís estar en mí.
