1 J ehoshaphat the king of Judah returned safely to his house in Jerusalem.

Y Josafat rey de Judá se volvió en paz a su casa en Jerusalén.

2 J ehu son of Hanani, the seer, went out to meet him and said to Jehoshaphat, Should you help the ungodly and love those who hate the Lord? Because of this, wrath has gone out against you from the Lord.

Y le salió al encuentro Jehú, hijo de Hanani, vidente, y dijo al rey Josafat: ¿A un impío das ayuda, y amas a los que aborrecen al SEÑOR? Pues la ira de la presencia del SEÑOR será sobre ti por ello.

3 B ut there are good things found in you, for you have destroyed the Asherim out of the land and have set your heart to seek God.

Pero se han hallado en ti buenas cosas, porque quemaste los bosques del culto pagano de la tierra, y has apercibido tu corazón a buscar a Dios.

4 J ehoshaphat dwelt at Jerusalem, and he went out again among the people from Beersheba to the hill country of Ephraim and brought them back to the Lord, the God of their fathers.

¶ Y habitaba Josafat en Jerusalén; mas volvía y salía al pueblo, desde Beerseba hasta el monte de Efraín, y los hizo volver al SEÑOR Dios de sus padres.

5 H e appointed judges throughout all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city,

Y puso en la tierra jueces en todas las ciudades fuertes de Judá, por todas las ciudades.

6 A nd said to the judges, Be careful what you do, for you judge not for man but for the Lord, and He is with you in the matter of judgment.

Y dijo a los jueces: Mirad lo que hacéis; para que no juzguéis en lugar de hombre, sino en lugar del SEÑOR, el cual está con vosotros en la palabra del juicio.

7 S o now let the reverence and fear of the Lord be upon you; take heed what you do, for there is no injustice with the Lord our God, or partiality or taking of bribes.

Sea, pues, con vosotros el temor del SEÑOR; guardad y haced; porque acerca del SEÑOR nuestro Dios no hay iniquidad, ni acepción de personas, ni recibir soborno.

8 A lso in Jerusalem, Jehoshaphat set certain Levites, priests, and heads of families of Israel to give judgment for the Lord and decide controversies. When they returned to Jerusalem,

Y puso también Josafat en Jerusalén algunos de los levitas y sacerdotes, y de las cabezas de los padres de Israel, para el juicio del SEÑOR y para las causas. Y volvieron a Jerusalén.

9 T he king charged them, Do this in the fear of the Lord, faithfully, with integrity and a blameless heart.

Y les mandó, diciendo: Procederéis así con temor del SEÑOR, en verdad, y con corazón perfecto.

10 W henever any controversy shall come to you from your brethren who dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and judgments, you shall warn and instruct them that they may not be guilty before the Lord; otherwise wrath will come upon you and your brethren. Do this and you will not be guilty.

En cualquier causa que viniere a vosotros de vuestros hermanos que habitan en sus ciudades, entre sangre y sangre, entre ley y mandamiento, estatutos o derechos, habéis de amonestarles de que no sean culpables contra el SEÑOR, para que no venga ira sobre vosotros y sobre vuestros hermanos. Obrando así no serán culpables.

11 A nd behold, Amariah the chief priest is over you in all matters of the Lord, and Zebadiah son of Ishmael, the governor of the house of Judah, in all the king’s matters; also the Levites will serve you as officers. Deal courageously, and may the Lord be with the good!

He aquí a Amarías el sumo sacerdote, que será sobre vosotros en todo negocio del SEÑOR; y Zebadías hijo de Ismael, príncipe de la casa de Judá, en todos los negocios del rey; y los levitas que serán los maestros delante de vosotros. Esforzaos pues, y obrad; que el SEÑOR estará con el bueno.
