1 T hese are the heads of their fathers’ houses and this is the genealogy of those who went up with me from Babylonia in the reign of King Artaxerxes:

4 O f the sons of Pahath-moab, Eliehoenai son of Zerahiah, with 200 men;

12 O f the sons of Azgad, Johanan son of Hakkatan, with 110 men;

y de los hijos de Azgad, Johanán, hijo de Hacatán, y con él ciento diez varones;

13 O f the sons of Adonikam, the last to come, their names are Eliphelet, Jeuel, and Shemaiah, with 60 men;

y de los hijos de Adonicam, los postreros, cuyos nombres son éstos, Elifelet, Jeiel, y Semaías, y con ellos sesenta varones;

14 O f the sons of Bigvai, Uthai and Zabbud, with 70 men.

y de los hijos de Bigvai, Utai y Zabud, y con ellos setenta varones.

15 I gathered them together at the river that runs to Ahava, and there we encamped three days. I reviewed the people and the priests, and found no Levites.

Y los junté junto al río que viene a Ahava, y acampamos allí tres días; y habiendo buscado entre el pueblo y entre los sacerdotes, no hallé allí de los hijos de Leví.

16 T hen I sent for Eliezer, Ariel, Shemaiah, Elnathan, Jarib, Elnathan, Nathan, Zechariah, Meshullam, who were chief men, and also for Joiarib and Elnathan, who were teachers.

Entonces despaché a Eliezer, a Ariel, a Semaías, a Elnatán, a Jarib, a Elnatán, a Natán, a Zacarías, y a Mesulam, principales; asimismo a Joiarib y a Elnatán, sabios;

17 A nd I sent them to Iddo, the leading man at the place Casiphia, telling them to say to Iddo and his brethren the Nethinim at the place Casiphia, Bring to us servants for the house of our God.

y los envié a Iddo, capitán en el lugar de Casifia, y puse en boca de ellos las palabras que habían de hablar a Iddo, y a sus hermanos los netineos en el lugar de Casifia, para que nos trajeran ministros para la Casa de nuestro Dios.

18 A nd by the good hand of our God upon us, they brought us a man of understanding, of the sons of Mahli son of Levi, the son of Israel, named Sherebiah, with his sons and his kinsmen, 18;

Y nos trajeron (según la buena mano de nuestro Dios sobre nosotros), un varón entendido de los hijos de Mahli, hijo de Leví, hijo de Israel; y a Serebías con sus hijos y sus hermanos, dieciocho;

19 A nd Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari, with his kinsmen and their sons, 20;

y a Hasabías, y con él a Isaía (Jesaías) de los hijos de Merari, a sus hermanos y a sus hijos, veinte;

20 A lso 220 of the Nethinim, whose forefathers David and the officials had set apart to attend the Levites. They were all mentioned by name.

y de los netineos, a quienes David con los príncipes puso para el ministerio de los levitas, doscientos veinte netineos, todos los cuales fueron declarados por sus nombres.

21 T hen I proclaimed a fast there, at the river Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God to seek from Him a straight and right way for us, our little ones, and all our possessions.

¶ Y publiqué ayuno allí junto al río de Ahava, para afligirnos delante de nuestro Dios, para buscar de él camino derecho para nosotros, y para nuestros niños, y para toda nuestra hacienda.

22 F or I was ashamed to request of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to protect us against the enemy along the way, because we had told the king, The hand of our God is upon all them for good who seek Him, but His power and His wrath are against all those who forsake Him.

Porque tuve vergüenza de pedir al rey tropa y gente de a caballo que nos defendieran del enemigo en el camino; porque habíamos hablado al rey, diciendo: La mano de nuestro Dios es sobre todos los que le buscan para bien; mas su fortaleza y su furor sobre todos los que le dejan.

23 S o we fasted and besought our God for this, and He heard our entreaty.

Ayunamos pues, y buscamos a nuestro Dios sobre esto, y él nos fue propicio.

24 T hen I set apart twelve leading priests, Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their kinsmen,

¶ Aparté luego doce de los principales de los sacerdotes, a Serebías y a Hasabías, y con ellos diez de sus hermanos;

25 A nd weighed out to them the silver, the gold, and the vessels, the offering for the house of our God which the king, his counselors, his lords, and all Israel there present had offered.

y les pesé la plata, el oro, y los vasos; la ofrenda para la Casa de nuestro Dios que habían ofrecido el rey, sus consultores, y sus príncipes, todos los que se hallaron de Israel.

26 I weighed into their hands 650 talents of silver, and silver vessels valued at 100 talents, and 100 talents of gold;

Pesé, pues, en manos de ellos seiscientos cincuenta talentos de plata, y vasos de plata por cien talentos, y cien talentos de oro;

27 A lso 20 basins of gold worth 1, 000 darics, and two vessels of fine bright bronze, precious as gold.

además veinte tazones de oro, por mil dracmas; y dos vasos de bronce limpio muy bueno, preciados como el oro.

28 A nd I said to them, You are holy to the Lord, the vessels are holy also, and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering to the Lord, the God of your fathers.

Y les dije: Vosotros sois santidad al SEÑOR, y los vasos son santidad; y la plata y el oro ofrenda voluntaria al SEÑOR, Dios de nuestros padres.

29 G uard and keep them until you weigh them before the chief priests and Levites and heads of the fathers’ houses of Israel in Jerusalem in the chambers of the house of the Lord.

Velad, y guardadlos, hasta que los peséis delante de los príncipes de los sacerdotes y de los levitas, y de los príncipes de los padres de Israel en Jerusalén, en las cámaras de la Casa del SEÑOR.

30 S o the priests and the Levites received the weight of the silver, the gold, and the vessels to bring them to Jerusalem into the house of our God.

Los sacerdotes y levitas recibieron el peso de la plata y del oro y de los vasos, para traerlo a Jerusalén a la Casa de nuestro Dios.

31 W e left the river Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month to go to Jerusalem; and the hand of our God was upon us, and He delivered us from the enemy and those who lay in wait by the way.

Y partimos del río de Ahava el doce del mes primero, para ir a Jerusalén; y la mano de nuestro Dios estaba sobre nosotros, el cual nos libró de mano del enemigo y del acechador en el camino.

32 A nd we came to Jerusalem, and there three days.

Y llegamos a Jerusalén, y reposamos allí tres días.

33 O n the fourth day, the silver, the gold, and the vessels were weighed in the house of our God into the hands of Meremoth the priest, son of Uriah, and with him was Eleazar son of Phinehas, and with them were Jozabad son of Jeshua and Noadiah son of Binnui—the Levites.

Al cuarto día fue luego pesada la plata, el oro, y los vasos, en la Casa de nuestro Dios, por mano de Meremot hijo de Urías sacerdote, y con él Eleazar hijo de Finees; y con ellos Jozabad hijo de Jesúa, y Noadías hijo de Binúi, levitas;

34 E very piece was counted and weighed, and all the weight was recorded at once.

por cuenta y por peso todo; y se apuntó todo aquel peso en aquel tiempo.

35 A lso those returned exiles whose parents had been carried into captivity offered burnt offerings to the God of Israel: twelve young bulls for all Israel, ninety-six rams, seventy-seven lambs, and twelve he-goats for a sin offering. All this was a burnt offering to the Lord.

Los que habían venido de la cautividad, los hijos de la transmigración, ofrecieron holocaustos al Dios de Israel, doce becerros por todo Israel, noventa y seis carneros, setenta y siete corderos, doce machos cabríos como pecado; todo en holocausto al SEÑOR.

36 A nd they delivered the king’s commissions to the king’s lieutenants and to the governors west of the River, and they aided the people and God’s house.

Y dieron los despachos del rey a sus virreyes y capitanes del otro lado del río, los cuales favorecieron al pueblo y a la casa de Dios.
