1 B ut some days later, in the time of wheat harvest, Samson went to visit his wife, taking along a kid; and he said, I will go unto my wife in the inner chamber. But her father would not allow him to go in.

¶ Y aconteció después de algunos días, que en el tiempo de la siega del trigo, Sansón visitó a su mujer con un cabrito, diciendo: Entraré a mi mujer a la cámara. Mas el padre de ella no lo dejó entrar.

2 A nd her father said, I truly thought you utterly hated her, so I gave her to your companion. Is her younger sister not fairer than she? Take her, I pray you, instead.

Y dijo el padre de ella: Me persuadí que tú la aborrecías, y la di a tu compañero. Mas su hermana menor, ¿no es más hermosa que ella? Tómala, pues, en su lugar.

3 A nd Samson said of them, This time shall I be blameless as regards the Philistines, though I do them evil.

Y Sansón les respondió: Yo seré sin culpa esta vez para con los filisteos, si mal les hiciere.

4 S o Samson went and caught 300 foxes or jackals and took torches and turning the foxes tail to tail, he put a torch between each pair of tails.

Y fue Sansón y cogió trescientas zorras, y tomando teas, y trabando aquellas por la cola, puso entre cada dos colas una tea.

5 A nd when he had set the torches ablaze, he let the foxes go into the standing grain of the Philistines, and he burned up the shocks and the standing grain, along with the olive orchards.

Después, encendiendo las teas, echó las zorras en los sembrados de los filisteos, y quemó las mieses amontonadas y en pie, viñas y olivares.

6 T hen the Philistines said, Who has done this? And they were told, Samson, the son-in-law of the Timnite, because he has taken his wife and has given her to his companion. And the Philistines came up and burned her and her father with fire.

Y dijeron los filisteos: ¿Quién hizo esto? Y les fue dicho: Sansón, el yerno del timnateo, porque le quitó su mujer y la dio a su compañero. Y vinieron los filisteos, y los quemaron a fuego a ella y a su padre.

7 A nd Samson said to them, If this is the way you act, surely I will take revenge on you, and after that I will quit.

Entonces Sansón les dijo: ¿Así lo habíais de hacer? Mas yo no descansaré hasta que me haya vengado de vosotros.

8 A nd he smote them hip and thigh, a great slaughter; and he went down and dwelt in the cleft of the rock of Etam.

Y los hirió pierna y muslo con gran mortandad; y descendió, y asentó en la cueva de la peña de Etam.

9 T hen the Philistines came up and encamped in Judah and spread themselves in Lehi.

¶ Y los filisteos subieron y pusieron campamento en Judá, y se tendieron por Lehi.

10 A nd the men of Judah said, Why have you come up against us? And they answered, We have come up to bind Samson, to do to him as he has done to us.

Y los varones de Judá les dijeron: ¿Por qué habéis subido contra nosotros? Y ellos respondieron: A prender a Sansón hemos subido, para hacerle como él nos ha hecho.

11 T hen 3, 000 men of Judah went down to the cleft of the rock Etam and said to Samson, Have you not known that the Philistines are rulers over us? What is this that you have done to us? He said to them, As they did to me, so have I done to them.

Y vinieron tres mil hombres de Judá a la cueva de la peña de Etam, y dijeron a Sansón: ¿No sabes tú que los filisteos dominan sobre nosotros? ¿Por qué nos has hecho esto? Y él les respondió: Yo les he hecho como ellos me hicieron.

12 A nd they said to him, We have come down to bind you, that we may deliver you into the hands of the Philistines. And Samson said to them, Swear to me that you will not fall upon me yourselves.

Ellos entonces le dijeron: Nosotros hemos venido para prenderte, y entregarte en mano de los filisteos. Y Sansón les respondió: Juradme que vosotros no me mataréis.

13 A nd they said to him, No, we will bind you fast and give you into their hand; but surely we will not kill you. So they bound him with two new ropes and brought him up from the rock.

Y ellos le respondieron, diciendo: No; solamente te prenderemos, y te entregaremos en sus manos; mas no te mataremos. Entonces le ataron con dos cuerdas nuevas, y le hicieron venir de la peña.

14 A nd when he came to Lehi, the Philistines came shouting to meet him. And the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon, and the ropes on his arms became as flax that had caught fire, and his bonds melted off his hands.

Y cuando vino hasta Lehi, los filisteos le salieron a recibir con alarido; y el Espíritu del SEÑOR cayó sobre él, y las cuerdas que estaban en sus brazos se volvieron como lino quemado con fuego, y las ataduras se cayeron de sus manos.

15 A nd he found a still moist jawbone of a donkey and reached out and took it and slew 1, 000 men with it.

Y hallando a mano una quijada de asno aún fresca, extendió la mano y la tomó, e hirió con ella a mil hombres.

16 A nd Samson said, With the jawbone of a donkey, heaps upon heaps, with the jawbone of a donkey I have slain 1, 000 men!

Entonces Sansón dijo: Con la quijada de un asno, un montón, dos montones; con la quijada de un asno herí mil varones.

17 A nd when he stopped speaking, he cast the jawbone from his hand; and that place was called Ramath-lehi.

Y acabando de hablar, echó de su mano la quijada, y llamó a aquel lugar Ramat-lehi.

18 S amson was very thirsty, and he prayed to the Lord and said, You have given this great deliverance by the hand of Your servant, and now shall I die of thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?

¶ Y teniendo gran sed, clamó luego al SEÑOR, y dijo: Tú has dado esta gran salvación por mano de tu siervo; ¿y moriré yo ahora de sed, y caeré en mano de los incircuncisos?

19 A nd God split open the hollow place that was at Lehi, and water came out of it. And when he drank, his spirit returned and he revived. Therefore the name of it was called En-hakkore, which is at Lehi to this day.

Entonces quebró Dios una muela que estaba en la quijada, y salieron de allí aguas, y bebió, y recobró su espíritu, y vivió. Por tanto llamó el nombre de aquel lugar, En-hacore ( fuente del que llama), el cual está en Lehi, hasta hoy.

20 A nd judged (defended) Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.

Y juzgó a Israel en los días de los filisteos veinte años.
