1 J ehoshaphat slept with his fathers and was buried with in the City of David. Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.

Y durmió Josafat con sus padres, y lo sepultaron con sus padres en la ciudad de David. Y reinó en su lugar Joram su hijo.

2 H e had brothers: Azariah, Jehiel, Zechariah, Azariah, Michael, and Shephatiah, all the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.

Este tuvo hermanos, hijos de Josafat, a Azarías, Jehiel, Zacarías, Azarías, Micael, y Sefatías. Todos éstos fueron hijos de Josafat rey de Israel.

3 T heir father gave them great gifts of silver, gold, and precious things, together with fortified cities in Judah, but the kingdom he gave to Jehoram, the firstborn.

Y su padre les había dado muchos dones de oro y de plata, y cosas preciosas, y ciudades fuertes en Judá; mas había dado el reino a Joram, porque él era el primogénito.

4 W hen Jehoram had ascended to the kingship of his father, he strengthened himself and slew all his brethren with the sword and also some of Israel’s princes.

Y se levantó Joram contra el reino de su padre; y se hizo fuerte, y mató a espada a todos sus hermanos, y asimismo a algunos de los príncipes de Israel.

5 J ehoram at thirty-two years of age began his eight-year reign in Jerusalem.

Cuando comenzó a reinar era de treinta y dos años, y reinó ocho años en Jerusalén.

6 H e walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab, for he married the daughter of Ahab and did what was evil in the eyes of the Lord.

Y anduvo en el camino de los reyes de Israel, como hizo la casa de Acab; porque tenía por mujer a la hija de Acab, e hizo lo malo ante los ojos del SEÑOR.

7 B ut the Lord would not destroy the house of David, because He had made a covenant with David and promised to give a light to him and to his sons forever.

Mas el SEÑOR no quiso destruir la casa de David, por la alianza que con David había hecho, y porque le había dicho que le daría lámpara a él y a sus hijos perpetuamente.

8 I n Jehoram’s days, the Edomites revolted from the rule of Judah and set up for themselves a king.

En los días de éste se rebeló Edom, para no estar bajo el poder de Judá, y pusieron rey sobre sí.

9 T hen Jehoram passed over with his captains and all his chariots, and rose up by night and smote the Edomites who had surrounded him and his chariot captains.

Entonces pasó Joram con sus príncipes, y consigo todos sus carros; y se levantó de noche, e hirió a Edom que le habían cercado, y a todos los príncipes de sus carros.

10 S o Edom revolted from the rule of Judah to this day. Then Libnah also revolted from Jehoram’s rule, because he had forsaken the Lord, the God of his fathers.

Con todo eso Edom quedó rebelado, sin estar bajo la mano de Judá hasta hoy. También se rebeló en el mismo tiempo Libna para no estar bajo su mano; por cuanto él había dejado al SEÑOR el Dios de sus padres.

11 M oreover, he made idolatrous high places in the hill country of Judah and debauched spiritually the inhabitants of Jerusalem and led Judah astray.

Además de esto hizo lugares altos en los montes de Judá, e hizo que los moradores de Jerusalén fornicaran, y a ello impelió a Judá.

12 A nd there came a letter to Jehoram from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

¶ Y le llegaron letras del profeta Elías, que decían así: El SEÑOR, el Dios de David tu padre, ha dicho así: Por cuanto no has andado en los caminos de Josafat tu padre, ni en los caminos de Asa, rey de Judá,

13 B ut have walked in the ways of Israel’s kings, and made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem play the harlot like the harlotry of Ahab’s house, and also have slain your brothers of your father’s house, who were better than you,

antes has andado en el camino de los reyes de Israel, y has hecho que fornicara Judá, y los moradores de Jerusalén, como fornicó la casa de Acab; y además has dado muerte a tus hermanos, a la casa de tu padre, los cuales eran mejores que tú,

14 B ehold, the Lord will smite your people, and your children, your wives, and all your possessions with a great plague.

he aquí el SEÑOR herirá tu pueblo de una gran plaga, a tus hijos a tus mujeres, y a toda tu hacienda;

15 A nd you yourself shall have a severe illness because of an intestinal disease, until your bowels fall out because of the sickness, day after day.

y a ti con muchas enfermedades, con enfermedad de tus entrañas, hasta que las entrañas se te salgan a causa de la enfermedad de cada día.

16 A nd the Lord stirred up against Jehoram the anger of the Philistines and of the Arabs who were near the Ethiopians.

¶ Entonces despertó el SEÑOR contra Joram el espíritu de los filisteos, y de los árabes que estaban junto a los etíopes;

17 T hey came against Judah, invaded it, and carried away all the possessions found in and around the king’s house, together with his sons and his wives; so there was not a son left to him except Jehoahaz, the youngest.

y subieron contra Judá, e invadieron la tierra, y saquearon toda la hacienda que hallaron en la casa del rey, a sus hijos, y a sus mujeres; de modo que no le quedó hijo, sino Joacaz el menor de sus hijos.

18 A nd after all this, the Lord smote with an incurable intestinal disease.

Después de todo esto el SEÑOR lo hirió en las entrañas con una enfermedad incurable.

19 I n process of time, after two years, his bowels fell out because of his disease. So he died in severe distress. And his people made no funeral fire to honor him, like the fires for his fathers.

Y aconteció que, pasando un día tras otro, al fin, al cabo de dos años, las entrañas se le salieron por la enfermedad, muriendo así de enfermedad muy penosa. Y no le hizo quema su pueblo, como las había hecho a sus padres.

20 T hirty-two years old was Jehoram when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years, and departed without being wanted. Yet they buried him in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.

Cuando comenzó a reinar era de treinta y dos años, y reinó en Jerusalén ocho años; y se fue sin ser deseado. Y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de David, mas no en los sepulcros de los reyes.
