1 T hus the Lord said to me: Go and buy yourself a linen girdle and put it on your loins, but do not put it in water.

Así me dijo el SEÑOR: Ve, y cómprate un cinto de lino, y cíñelo sobre tus lomos, y no lo meterás en agua.

2 S o I bought a girdle or waistcloth, according to the word of the Lord, and put it on my loins.

Y compré el cinto conforme a la palabra del SEÑOR, y lo puse sobre mis lomos.

3 A nd the word of the Lord came to me the second time, saying,

Y vino a mí segunda vez palabra del SEÑOR, diciendo:

4 T ake the girdle which you have bought, which is on your loins, and arise, go to the Euphrates, and hide it there in a cleft of the rock.

Toma el cinto que compraste, que está sobre tus lomos, y levántate, y ve al Eufrates, y escóndelo allá en una caverna de una peña.

5 S o I went and hid it by the Euphrates, as the Lord commanded me.

Y fui, y lo escondí en el Eufrates, como el SEÑOR me mandó.

6 A nd after many days the Lord said to me, Arise, go to the Euphrates, and take from there the girdle which I commanded you to hide there.

Y sucedió que al cabo de muchos días me dijo el SEÑOR: Levántate, y ve al Eufrates, y toma de allí el cinto que te mandé escondieras allá.

7 T hen I went to the Euphrates and dug and took the girdle or waistcloth from the place where I had hidden it. And behold, the girdle was decayed and spoiled; it was good for nothing.

Entonces fui al Eufrates, y cavé, y tomé el cinto del lugar donde lo había escondido; y he aquí que el cinto se había podrido; para ninguna cosa era bueno.

8 T hen the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

Y vino palabra del SEÑOR a mí, diciendo:

9 T hus says the Lord: After this manner will I mar the pride of Judah and the great pride of Jerusalem.

Así dijo el SEÑOR: Así haré podrir la soberbia de Judá, y la mucha soberbia de Jerusalén,

10 T hese evil people, who refuse to hear My words, who walk in the stubbornness of their hearts and have gone after other gods to serve them and to worship them, shall even be like this girdle or waistcloth, which is profitable for nothing.

A este pueblo malo, que no quiere oír mis palabras, que anda en las imaginaciones de su corazón, y se fue en pos de dioses ajenos para servirles, y para encorvarse a ellos; y vendrá a ser como este cinto, que para ninguna cosa es bueno.

11 F or as the girdle clings to the loins of a man, so I caused the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah to cling to Me, says the Lord, that they might be for Me a people, a name, a praise, and a glory; but they would not listen or obey.

Porque como el cinto se junta a los lomos del hombre, así hice juntar a mí toda la Casa de Israel y toda la Casa de Judá, dice el SEÑOR, para que me fueran por pueblo y por fama, y por alabanza y por honra; pero no escucharon.

12 T herefore you shall speak to them this word: Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Every bottle and jar should be filled with wine. will say to you, Do we not certainly know that every bottle and jar should be filled with wine?

Les dirás, pues, esta palabra: Así dijo el SEÑOR, Dios de Israel: Se llenará de vino todo odre. Y ellos te dirán: ¿Por ventura no sabemos que todo odre se llenará de vino?

13 T hen say to them, Thus says the Lord: Behold, I will fill with drunkenness all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings who sit upon David’s throne, the priests, the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Entonces les has de decir: Así dijo el SEÑOR: He aquí que yo lleno de embriaguez a todos los moradores de esta tierra, y a los reyes que están sentados por David sobre su trono, y a los sacerdotes y los profetas, y todos a los moradores de Jerusalén;

14 A nd I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, says the Lord. I will not pity or spare or have compassion, that I should not destroy them.

y los quebrantaré el uno con el otro, los padres con los hijos juntamente, dice el SEÑOR: no perdonaré, ni tendré piedad, ni misericordia para no destruirlos.

15 H ear and give ear, do not be proud, for the Lord has spoken.

Escuchad y oíd; no os elevéis, porque el SEÑOR habló.

16 G ive glory to the Lord your God before He brings darkness and before your feet stumble upon the dark and twilit mountains, and, while you are looking for light, He turns it into the shadow of death and makes it thick darkness.

Dad gloria al SEÑOR Dios vuestro, antes que haga venir tinieblas, y antes que vuestros pies tropiecen en montes de oscuridad, y esperéis luz, y os la torne en sombra de muerte y tinieblas.

17 B ut if you will not hear and obey, I will weep in secret for your pride; my eyes will weep bitterly and run down with tears, because the Lord’s flock has been taken captive.

Mas si no oyereis esto, en secreto llorará mi alma a causa de vuestra soberbia; y llorando amargamente, se desharán mis ojos en lágrimas, porque el rebaño del SEÑOR fue cautivo.

18 S ay to the king and the queen mother, Humble yourselves and take a lowly seat, for down from your head has come your beautiful crown (the crown of your glory).

Di al rey y a la reina: Humillaos, sentaos en tierra; porque la corona de vuestra gloria bajó de vuestras cabezas.

19 T he cities of the South (the Negeb) have been shut up, and there is no one to open them; all Judah has been carried away captive, it has been wholly taken captive and into exile.

Las ciudades del Mediodía fueron cerradas, y no hubo quien las abriera; toda Judá fue transportada, transportada fue toda ella.

20 L ift up your eyes and behold those who come from the north. Where is the flock that was given to you, your beautiful flock?

Alzad vuestros ojos, y ved los que vienen del aquilón; ¿dónde está el rebaño que te fue dado, el ganado de tu hermosura?

21 W hat will you say when He sets over you as head those whom you yourselves have taught to be lovers (allies) with you ? Will not pangs take hold of you like that of a woman in travail?

¿Qué dirás cuando te visitará? Porque tú les enseñaste a ser príncipes y cabeza sobre ti. ¿No te tomarán dolores como a mujer que está de parto?

22 A nd if you say in your heart, Why have these things come upon me?—, Because of the greatness of your iniquity has your long robe been pulled aside and have you suffered violence.

Cuando dijeres en tu corazón: ¿Por qué me ha sobrevenido esto? Por la enormidad de tu iniquidad fueron descubiertas tus faldas, fueron desnudos tus calcañares.

23 C an the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard his spots? Then also can you do good who are accustomed and taught to do evil.

¿Por ventura mudará el negro su pellejo, y el leopardo sus manchas? Así tampoco, podréis vosotros hacer bien, estando enseñados a hacer mal.

24 T herefore I will scatter you like chaff driven away by the wind from the desert.

Por tanto, yo los esparciré, como tamo que pasa, al viento del desierto.

25 T his is your lot, the portion measured to you from Me, says the Lord, because you have forgotten Me and trusted in falsehood.

Esta será tu suerte, la porción de tus medidas de parte mía, dijo el SEÑOR; porque te olvidaste de mí, y confiaste en la mentira.

26 T herefore I Myself will, throwing your skirts up over your face, that your shame may be exposed.

Yo, también, descubrí tus faldas delante de tu cara, y tu vergüenza se manifestó.

27 I have seen your detestable acts, even your adulteries and your lustful neighings, and the lewdness of your harlotry on the hills in the field. Woe to you, O Jerusalem! For how long a time yet will you not be made clean?

Tus adulterios, tus relinchos, la maldad de tu fornicación sobre los collados; en el mismo campo vi tus abominaciones. ¡Ay de ti, Jerusalén! ¿No serás limpia al fin? ¿Hasta cuándo pues?
