1 I n the ninth year of Zedekiah’s reign, on the tenth day of the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came with all his army against Jerusalem and laid siege to it, and they built siege works against it round about.

Y aconteció a los nueve años de su reinado, en el mes décimo, a los diez del mes, que Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia vino con todo su ejército contra Jerusalén, y la cercó; y levantaron contra ella ingenios alrededor.

2 T he city was besieged until the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.

Y estuvo la ciudad cercada hasta el undécimo año del rey Sedequías.

3 O n the ninth day of the fourth month the famine was complete in the city; there was no food for the people of the land.

A los nueve del mes prevaleció el hambre en la ciudad, y no hubo pan para el pueblo de la tierra.

4 T hen the city was broken through; the king and all the warriors fled by night by way of the gate between the two walls by the king’s garden, though the Chaldeans were round about the city. went by the way toward the Arabah (the plain).

Abierta ya la ciudad, huyeron de noche todos los hombres de guerra por el camino de la puerta que estaba entre los dos muros, junto a los huertos del rey, estando los caldeos alrededor de la ciudad; y se fueron por el camino de la campiña.

5 T he Chaldean army pursued the king and overtook him in the plains of Jericho. All his army was scattered from him.

Y el ejército de los caldeos siguió al rey, y lo tomó en las llanuras de Jericó, habiéndose esparcido de él todo su ejército.

6 S o they captured Zedekiah and brought him to the king of Babylon at Riblah, and sentence was passed on him.

Tomado, pues, el rey, le trajeron al rey de Babilonia a Ribla, y profirieron contra él sentencia.

7 A nd they slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes and put out the eyes of Zedekiah and bound him in double fetters and carried him to Babylon.

Y mataron a los hijos de Sedequías en presencia suya; y a Sedequías sacaron los ojos, y atado con cadenas de bronce lo llevaron a Babilonia.

8 O n the seventh day of the fifth month of the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, Nebuzaradan, captain of the Babylonian king’s guard, came to Jerusalem.

¶ En el mes quinto, a los siete del mes, que era el año diecinueve de Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia, vino a Jerusalén Nabuzaradán, capitán de los de la guardia, siervo del rey de Babilonia.

9 H e burned the house of the Lord, the king’s house, and all the houses of Jerusalem; every great house he burned down.

Y quemó la Casa del SEÑOR, y la casa del rey, y todas las casas de Jerusalén; y todas las casas de los principales quemó a fuego.

10 A ll the army of the Chaldeans who were with the captain of the guard broke down the walls around Jerusalem.

Y todo el ejército de los caldeos que estaba con el capitán de la guardia, derribó los muros de Jerusalén alrededor.

11 N ow the rest of the people left in the city and the deserters who fell away to the king of Babylon, along with the rest of the multitude, Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried into exile.

Y a los del pueblo que habían quedado en la ciudad, y a los que se habían juntado al rey de Babilonia, y a los que habían quedado del vulgo, lo transportó Nabuzaradán, capitán de los de la guardia.

12 B ut the captain of the guard left some of the poorest of the land to be vinedressers and soil tillers.

Mas de los pobres de la tierra dejó el capitán de los de la guardia, para que labraran las viñas y las tierras.

13 T he bronze pillars in the Lord’s house and bases and the bronze Sea the Chaldeans smashed and carried the bronze to Babylon.

Y quebraron los caldeos las columnas de bronce que estaban en la Casa del SEÑOR, y las basas, y el mar de bronce que estaba en la Casa del SEÑOR, y llevaron el bronce de ello a Babilonia.

14 A nd they took away the pots, shovels, snuffers, dishes for incense, all the bronze vessels used in the temple service,

Llevaron también los calderos, y las paletas, y las tenazas, y los cucharones, y todos los vasos de bronce con que ministraban.

15 T he firepans, and bowls. Such things as were of gold the captain of the guard took away as gold, and what was of silver as silver.

Incensarios, cuencos, los que de oro, en oro, y los que de plata, en plata, todo lo llevó el capitán de los de la guardia;

16 T he two pillars, the one Sea, and the bases, which Solomon had made for the house of the Lord, the bronze of all these articles was incalculable.

las dos columnas, un mar, y las basas que Salomón había hecho para la Casa del SEÑOR; no había peso de todos estos vasos.

17 T he height of the one pillar was eighteen cubits, and upon it was a capital of bronze. The height of the capital was three cubits; a network and pomegranates round about the capital were all of bronze. And the second pillar had the same as these, with a network.

La altura de una columna era dieciocho codos y tenía encima un capitel de bronce, y la altura del capitel era de tres codos; y sobre el capitel había un enredado y granadas alrededor, todo de bronce; y semejante obra había en la otra columna con el enredado.

18 T he captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the threshold.

Asimismo tomó el capitán de los de la guardia a Seraías el primer sacerdote, y a Sofonías el segundo sacerdote, y tres guardas de la puerta;

19 A nd out of the city he took an officer who was in command of the men of war and five men of the king’s personal advisors, who were found in the city, and the scribe of the captain of the army who mustered the people of the land and sixty men of the people who were found in the city.

y de la ciudad tomó a un eunuco, el cual era prefecto sobre los hombres de guerra, y cinco varones de los continuos del rey, que se hallaron en la ciudad; y al escriba príncipe del ejército, que hacía la reseña de la gente de la tierra, con sesenta varones del pueblo de la tierra, que se hallaron en la ciudad.

20 N ebuzaradan the captain of the guard took these and brought them to the king of Babylon at Riblah.

Estos tomó Nabuzaradán, capitán de los de la guardia, y los llevó a Ribla al rey de Babilonia.

21 T he king of Babylon smote and killed them at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was taken into exile.

Y el rey de Babilonia los hirió y mató en Ribla, en tierra de Hamat. Así fue transportado Judá de sobre su tierra.

22 O ver the people whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had left in the land of Judah he appointed as governor Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan.

¶ Y al pueblo que Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia dejó en tierra de Judá, puso por gobernador a Gedalías, hijo de Ahicam hijo de Safán.

23 A nd when all the captains of the forces and their men heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah governor, they came with their men to Gedaliah at Mizpah, namely, Ishmael son of Nethaniah, Johanan son of Kareah, Seraiah son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah son of the Maacathite.

Y oyendo todos los príncipes del ejército, ellos y los varones, que el rey de Babilonia había puesto por gobernador a Gedalías, se vinieron a Gedalías en Mizpa, es a saber, Ismael hijo de Netanías, Johanán hijo de Carea, Searías hijo de Tanhumet, el netofatita, y Jaazanías hijo de Maacati, ellos con los suyos.

24 A nd Gedaliah swore to them and their men, saying, Do not be afraid of the Chaldean officials. Dwell in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.

Entonces Gedalías les hizo juramento, a ellos y a los suyos, y les dijo: No tengáis temor de los siervos de los caldeos; habitad en la tierra, y servid al rey de Babilonia, y os irá bien.

25 B ut in the seventh month Ishmael son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the royal family, came with ten men and smote and killed Gedaliah and the Jews and the Chaldeans who were with him at Mizpah.

Mas en el mes séptimo vino Ismael hijo de Netanías, hijo de Elisama, de la simiente real, y con él diez varones, e hirieron a Gedalías, y murió; y también a los judíos y caldeos que estaban con él en Mizpa.

26 T hen all the people, both small and great, and the captains of the forces arose and went to Egypt, for they were afraid of the Chaldeans.

Entonces levantándose todo el pueblo, desde el menor hasta el mayor, con los capitanes del ejército, se fueron a Egipto por temor de los caldeos.

27 A nd in the thirty-seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, on the twenty-seventh day of the twelfth month, Evil-merodach king of Babylon, in the year that he began to reign, showed favor to Jehoiachin king of Judah and released him from prison;

¶ Y aconteció a los treinta y siete años de la transportación de Joaquín rey de Judá, en el mes duodécimo, a los veintisiete del mes, que Evil-merodac rey de Babilonia, en el primer año de su reinado, levantó la cabeza de Joaquín rey de Judá, sacándolo de la casa de la cárcel;

28 H e spoke kindly to him and ranked him above the kings with him in Babylon.

y le habló bien, y puso su asiento sobre el asiento de los reyes que con él estaban en Babilonia.

29 J ehoiachin put off his prison garments, and he dined regularly at the king’s table the remainder of his life.

Y le mudó los vestidos de su prisión, y comió pan siempre delante de él todos los días de su vida.

30 A nd his allowance, a continual one, was given him by the king, every day a portion, for the rest of his life.

Y el rey le hacía dar su comida de continuo, cada cosa en su tiempo todos los días de su vida.
