1 T he Spirit of God came upon Azariah son of Oded.

Y vino el espíritu de Dios sobre Azarías hijo de Obed;

2 A nd he went out to meet Asa and said to him, Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: the Lord is with you while you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.

y salió al encuentro de Asa, y le dijo: Oídme, Asa, y todo Judá y Benjamín: El SEÑOR estará con vosotros, si vosotros estáis con él; y si le buscareis, será hallado de vosotros; mas si le dejareis, él también os dejará.

3 N ow for a long time Israel was without the true God, without a teaching priest, and without law.

Muchos días ha estado Israel sin verdadero Dios, y sin sacerdote, y sin enseñador, y sin ley;

4 B ut when they in their trouble turned to the Lord, the God of Israel, and sought Him, He was found by them.

mas cuando con su tribulación se convirtieron al SEÑOR Dios de Israel, y le buscaron, él fue hallado de ellos.

5 A nd in those times there was no peace to him who went out nor to him who came in, but great and vexing afflictions and disturbances were upon all the inhabitants of the countries.

En aquellos tiempos no hubo paz, ni para el que entraba, ni para el que salía, sino muchas destrucciones sobre todos los habitantes de las tierras.

6 N ation was broke in pieces against nation, and city against city, for God vexed and troubled them with all sorts of adversity.

Y una gente destruía a la otra, y una ciudad a otra; porque Dios los conturbó con toda clase de calamidades.

7 B e strong, therefore, and let not your hands be weak and slack, for your work shall be rewarded.

Esforzaos pues vosotros, y no descoyunten vuestras manos; que salario hay para vuestra obra.

8 A nd when Asa heard these words, the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage and put away the abominable idols from all the land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities which he had taken in the hill country of Ephraim; and he repaired the altar of the Lord which was in front of the porch or vestibule of the Lord.

Y cuando oyó Asa las palabras y profecía de Obed, el profeta, fue confortado, y quitó las abominaciones de toda la tierra de Judá y de Benjamín, y de todas las ciudades que él había tomado en el monte de Efraín; y reparó el altar del SEÑOR que estaba delante del pórtico del SEÑOR.

9 A nd he gathered all Judah and Benjamin and the strangers with them out of Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon, for they came over to Asa out of Israel in large numbers when they saw that the Lord his God was with him.

E hizo juntar a todo Judá y Benjamín, y con ellos los extranjeros de Efraín, de Manasés, y de Simeón; porque muchos de Israel se habían pasado a él, viendo que el SEÑOR su Dios estaba con él.

10 S o they gathered at Jerusalem in the third month of the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.

Se congregaron, pues, en Jerusalén en el mes tercero, a los quince años del reinado de Asa.

11 A nd they sacrificed to the Lord on that day from the spoil which they had brought—700 oxen and 7, 000 sheep.

Y en aquel mismo día sacrificaron al SEÑOR, de los despojos que habían traído, setecientos bueyes y siete mil ovejas.

12 A nd they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, and to yearn for Him with all their heart’s desire and with all their soul;

Y entraron en pacto de que buscarían al SEÑOR el Dios de sus padres, con todo su corazón y con toda su alma;

13 A nd that whoever would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, should be put to death, whether young or old, man or woman.

y que cualquiera que no buscara al SEÑOR el Dios de Israel, moriría, grande o pequeño, hombre o mujer.

14 T hey took an oath to the Lord with a loud voice, with shouting, with trumpets, and with cornets.

Y juraron al SEÑOR con gran voz y gritos, al son de las trompetas y de los shofarot.

15 A nd all Judah rejoiced at the oath, for they had sworn with all their heart and sought Him with their whole desire, and He was found by them. And the Lord gave them rest and peace round about.

De este juramento todos los de Judá se alegraron; porque con todo su corazón lo juraban, y con toda su voluntad le buscaban; y fue hallado de ellos; y les dio el SEÑOR reposo por todas partes.

16 A lso Maacah, King Asa’s mother, he removed from being queen mother, because she had made an abominable image for Asherah. Asa cut down her idol, crushed it, and burned it at the brook Kidron.

Y aun a Maaca madre del rey Asa, él mismo la depuso que no fuera reina, porque había hecho un ídolo en el bosque; y Asa deshizo su ídolo, y lo desmenuzó, y lo quemó en el arroyo de Cedrón.

17 B ut the high places were not taken out of Israel. Nevertheless, the heart of Asa was blameless all his days.

Mas con todo eso los lugares altos no eran quitados de Israel, aunque el corazón de Asa fue perfecto mientras vivió.

18 A nd he brought into the house of God the things that his father had dedicated and those he himself had dedicated—silver and gold and vessels.

Y metió en la Casa de Dios lo que su padre había dedicado, y lo que él había consagrado, plata, oro y vasos.

19 A nd there was no more war until the thirty-fifth year of the reign of Asa.

Y no hubo guerra hasta los treinta y cinco años del reinado de Asa.
