1 B ut some days later, in the time of wheat harvest, Samson went to visit his wife, taking along a kid; and he said, I will go unto my wife in the inner chamber. But her father would not allow him to go in.

Aconteció después de algún tiempo, que en los días de la siega del trigo, Sansón fue a visitar a su mujer, llevando un cabrito, y dijo: Quiero entrar al aposento de mi mujer. Mas el padre de ella no le dejó entrar.

2 A nd her father said, I truly thought you utterly hated her, so I gave her to your companion. Is her younger sister not fairer than she? Take her, I pray you, instead.

Y le dijo su padre: Me persuadí de que no la amabas, y la di a tu compañero. Mas su hermana menor, ¿no es más hermosa que ella? Tómala, pues, en su lugar.

3 A nd Samson said of them, This time shall I be blameless as regards the Philistines, though I do them evil.

Entonces le dijo Sansón: Que los filisteos no me acusen esta vez, si les hago perjuicio.

4 S o Samson went and caught 300 foxes or jackals and took torches and turning the foxes tail to tail, he put a torch between each pair of tails.

Y fue Sansón y cazó trescientas zorras, y tomó teas, y juntó cola con cola, y puso una tea entre cada dos colas.

5 A nd when he had set the torches ablaze, he let the foxes go into the standing grain of the Philistines, and he burned up the shocks and the standing grain, along with the olive orchards.

Después, encendiendo las teas, soltó las zorras en los sembrados de los filisteos, y quemó las mieses amontonadas y en pie, viñas y olivares.

6 T hen the Philistines said, Who has done this? And they were told, Samson, the son-in-law of the Timnite, because he has taken his wife and has given her to his companion. And the Philistines came up and burned her and her father with fire.

Y dijeron los filisteos: ¿Quién hizo esto? Y les contestaron: Sansón, el yerno del timnateo, porque le quitó su mujer y la dio a su compañero. Y vinieron los filisteos y la quemaron a ella y a su padre.

7 A nd Samson said to them, If this is the way you act, surely I will take revenge on you, and after that I will quit.

Entonces Sansón les dijo: Ya que así habéis hecho, juro que no pararé hasta haberme vengado de vosotros, y después os dejaré.

8 A nd he smote them hip and thigh, a great slaughter; and he went down and dwelt in the cleft of the rock of Etam.

Y los hirió en cadera y muslo con gran mortandad; y descendió y habitó en la cueva de la peña de Etam. Sansón derrota a los filisteos en Lehi

9 T hen the Philistines came up and encamped in Judah and spread themselves in Lehi.

Entonces los filisteos subieron y acamparon en Judá, y se extendieron por Lehi.

10 A nd the men of Judah said, Why have you come up against us? And they answered, We have come up to bind Samson, to do to him as he has done to us.

Y los varones de Judá les dijeron: ¿Por qué habéis subido contra nosotros? Y ellos respondieron: A prender a Sansón hemos subido, para hacerle como él nos ha hecho.

11 T hen 3, 000 men of Judah went down to the cleft of the rock Etam and said to Samson, Have you not known that the Philistines are rulers over us? What is this that you have done to us? He said to them, As they did to me, so have I done to them.

Y vinieron tres mil hombres de Judá a la cueva de la peña de Etam, y dijeron a Sansón: ¿No sabes tú que los filisteos dominan sobre nosotros? ¿Por qué nos has hecho esto? Y él les respondió: Yo les he hecho como ellos me hicieron.

12 A nd they said to him, We have come down to bind you, that we may deliver you into the hands of the Philistines. And Samson said to them, Swear to me that you will not fall upon me yourselves.

Ellos entonces le dijeron: Nosotros hemos venido para prenderte y entregarte en manos de los filisteos. Y Sansón les respondió: Juradme que vosotros no me mataréis.

13 A nd they said to him, No, we will bind you fast and give you into their hand; but surely we will not kill you. So they bound him with two new ropes and brought him up from the rock.

Y ellos le respondieron, diciendo: No; solamente te prenderemos, y te entregaremos en sus manos; mas no te mataremos. Entonces le ataron con dos cuerdas nuevas, y le hicieron venir de la peña.

14 A nd when he came to Lehi, the Philistines came shouting to meet him. And the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon, and the ropes on his arms became as flax that had caught fire, and his bonds melted off his hands.

Y así que vino hasta Lehi, los filisteos salieron a su encuentro, lanzando gritos de júbilo; pero el Espíritu de Jehová vino sobre él, y las cuerdas que estaban en sus brazos se volvieron como lino quemado con fuego, y las ataduras se cayeron de sus manos.

15 A nd he found a still moist jawbone of a donkey and reached out and took it and slew 1, 000 men with it.

Y hallando una quijada de asno fresca aún, extendió la mano y la tomó, y mató con ella a mil hombres.

16 A nd Samson said, With the jawbone of a donkey, heaps upon heaps, with the jawbone of a donkey I have slain 1, 000 men!

Entonces Sansón dijo: Con la quijada de un asno he derrotado montón sobre montón; Con la quijada de un asno maté a mil hombres.

17 A nd when he stopped speaking, he cast the jawbone from his hand; and that place was called Ramath-lehi.

Y dicho esto tiró la quijada, y llamó a aquel lugar Ramat-lehi.

18 S amson was very thirsty, and he prayed to the Lord and said, You have given this great deliverance by the hand of Your servant, and now shall I die of thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?

Y teniendo gran sed, clamó luego a Jehová, y dijo: Tú has dado esta grande salvación por mano de tu siervo; ¿y moriré yo ahora de sed, y caeré en manos de los incircuncisos?

19 A nd God split open the hollow place that was at Lehi, and water came out of it. And when he drank, his spirit returned and he revived. Therefore the name of it was called En-hakkore, which is at Lehi to this day.

Entonces abrió Dios el hoyo que hay en Lehi; y salió de allí agua, y él bebió, y recobró su espíritu, y se reanimó. Por esto llamó el nombre de aquel lugar, En-hacoré, el cual está en Lehi, hasta hoy.

20 A nd judged (defended) Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.

Y juzgó a Israel en los días de los filisteos veinte años.
