1 E lihu proceeded and said,

Añadió Eliú y dijo:

2 B ear with me and wait a little longer, and I will show you, for I have something still to say on God’s behalf.

Espérame un poco, y te enseñaré; Porque todavía tengo razones en defensa de Dios.

3 I will bring my knowledge from afar and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.

Traeré mi saber desde lejos, Y atribuiré justicia a mi Hacedor.

4 F or truly my words shall not be false; He Who is perfect in knowledge is with you.

Porque de cierto no son mentira mis palabras; Contigo está uno que tiene perfecto conocimiento.

5 B ehold! God is mighty, and yet despises no one nor regards anything as trivial; He is mighty in power of understanding and heart.

He aquí que Dios es grande, pero no desestima a nadie; Es poderoso en fuerza y en sabiduría.

6 H e does not prolong the life of the wicked, but gives the needy and afflicted their right.

No otorgará vida al impío, Pero a los afligidos dará su derecho.

7 H e withdraws not His eyes from the righteous (the upright in right standing with God); but He sets them forever with kings upon the throne, and they are exalted.

No apartará de los justos sus ojos; Antes bien como reyes los pondrá en trono para siempre, Y serán exaltados.

8 A nd if they are bound in fetters and held by cords of affliction,

Y cuando los ata con cadenas, Y los aprisiona en las cuerdas de aflicción,

9 T hen He shows to them their deeds and their transgressions, that they have acted arrogantly.

Es para darles a conocer la obra de ellos, Y sus rebeliones, porque obraron con soberbia.

10 H e also opens their ears to instruction and discipline, and commands that they return from iniquity.

Despierta además el oído de ellos para su corrección, Y les exhorta a que se conviertan de la iniquidad.

11 I f they obey and serve Him, they shall spend their days in prosperity and their years in pleasantness and joy.

Si obedecen, y le sirven, Acabarán sus días en bienestar, Y sus años en dicha.

12 B ut if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die in ignorance of true knowledge.

Pero si no obedecen, serán pasados a espada, Y perecerán en su ignorancia.

13 B ut the godless and profane in heart heap up anger; they do not cry to Him when He binds them.

Mas los obstinados de corazón atesoran para sí la ira, Y no claman a él ni aun cuando él los castiga.

14 T hey die in youth, and their life perishes among the unclean (those who are sodomites).

Fallecerá el alma de su juventud, Y su vida entre los sodomitas.

15 H e delivers the afflicted in their affliction and opens their ears in adversity.

Al pobre librará de su pobreza, Y a través de la aflicción despertará su oído.

16 I ndeed, God would have allured you out of the mouth of distress into a broad place where there is no situation of perplexity or privation; and that which would be set on your table would be full of fatness.

También a ti te apartará de la boca de la angustia A lugar espacioso, libre de todo apuro, Y te preparará mesa llena de grosura.

17 B ut if you are filled with the judgment of the wicked, judgment and justice will keep hold on you.

Mas tú estás lleno del juicio del impío, En vez de sustentar el derecho y la justicia.

18 F or let not wrath entice you into scorning chastisements; and let not the greatness of the ransom turn you aside.

Por cuanto hay ira, ten cuidado de que no te seduzca la abundancia, Ni te corrompa el rico soborno.

19 W ill your cry be sufficient to keep you from distress, or will all the force of your strength do it?

¿Hará él estima de tus riquezas, del oro, O de todas las fuerzas de tu poder?

20 D esire not the night, when peoples are cut off from their places;

No anheles en la noche, El que los pueblos desaparezcan de su lugar.

21 T ake heed, turn not to iniquity, for this you have chosen rather than affliction.

Guárdate, no te vuelvas a la iniquidad; Pues ésta escogiste a causa de tu aflicción.

22 B ehold, God exalts and does loftily in His power; who is a ruler or a teacher like Him?

He aquí que Dios es excelso en su poder; ¿Qué enseñador será semejante a él?

23 W ho has appointed God His way? Or who can say, You have done unrighteousness?

¿Quién le ha prescrito su camino? ¿Y quién le dirá: Has obrado mal?

24 R emember that you magnify God’s work, of which men have sung.

Acuérdate de engrandecer su obra, La cual han ensalzado tantos otros hombres.

25 A ll men have looked upon God’s work; man may behold it afar off.

Los hombres todos la ven; La miran los mortales de lejos.

26 B ehold, God is great, and we know Him not! The number of His years is unsearchable.

He aquí, Dios es grande, y nosotros no le podemos comprender, Ni se puede escrutar el número de sus años.

27 F or He draws up the drops of water, which distil as rain from His vapor,

Él va soltando las gotas de las aguas, Al transformarse el vapor en lluvia,

28 W hich the skies pour down and drop abundantly upon mankind.

La cual destilan las nubes, O caen en chaparrones sobre los hombres.

29 N ot only that, but can anyone understand the spreadings of the clouds or the thunderings of His pavilion?

¿Quién podrá comprender la extensión de las nubes, Y el fragor estrepitoso de su morada?

30 B ehold, He spreads His lightning against the dark clouds and covers the roots of the sea.

He aquí que en torno a sí mismo extiende su luz, Y asienta su trono en las profundidades del mar.

31 F or by God executes judgment upon the peoples; He gives food in abundance.

Bien que por esos medios castiga a los pueblos, A la multitud él da sustento.

32 H e covers His hands with the lightning and commands it to strike the mark.

Cubre sus manos con relámpagos, Y manda al rayo que vaya derecho a dar en el blanco.

33 H is thunderings speak concerning Him; the cattle are told of His coming storm.

El trueno declara su indignación, Y la tempestad proclama su ira contra la iniquidad.
