1 A nd the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

2 S on of man, set your face toward Jerusalem and direct your word against the holy places; prophesy against the land of Israel

Hijo de hombre, pon tu rostro contra Jerusalén, y derrama palabra sobre los santuarios, y profetiza contra la tierra de Israel.

3 A nd say to the land of Israel, Thus says the Lord: Behold, I am against you and will draw forth My sword out of its sheath and will cut off from you both the righteous and the wicked.

Dirás a la tierra de Israel: Así dice Jehová: He aquí que yo estoy contra ti, y sacaré mi espada de su vaina, y cortaré de ti al justo y al impío.

4 B ecause I will cut off from you both the righteous and the wicked, therefore shall My sword go out of its sheath against all flesh from the south to the north,

Y por cuanto he de cortar de ti al justo y al impío, por tanto, mi espada saldrá de su vaina contra toda carne, desde el sur hasta el norte.

5 A nd all living shall know, understand, and realize that I the Lord have drawn My sword out of its sheath; it shall not be sheathed any more.

Y sabrá toda carne que yo Jehová saqué mi espada de su vaina; no la envainaré más.

6 S igh therefore, son of man! With breaking heart and with bitterness shall you sigh before their eyes.

Gime, pues, tú, hijo de hombre; con quebrantamiento de tus lomos y con amargura has de gemir delante de los ojos de ellos.

7 A nd it shall be that when they say to you, Why do you sigh? that you shall answer, Because of the tidings. When it comes, every heart will melt and all hands will be feeble, and every spirit will faint and all knees will be weak as water. Behold, it comes and it shall be fulfilled, says the Lord God.

Y cuando te digan: ¿Por qué gimes tú?, dirás: Por una noticia que cuando llegue hará que desfallezca todo corazón, y toda mano se debilitará, se consternará todo espíritu, y toda rodilla vacilará como agua; he aquí que viene, y se hará, dice el Señor Jehová.

8 A gain the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

Vino a mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:

9 S on of man, prophesy and say, Thus says the Lord: Say, A sword, a sword is sharpened and also polished;

Hijo de hombre, profetiza, y di: Así dice el Señor Jehová: Di: La espada, la espada está afilada, y también pulida.

10 I t is sharpened that it may make a slaughter, polished that it may flash and glitter like lightning! Shall we then rejoice and make mirth ? But the rod or scepter of My son rejects and views with contempt every tree!

Para degollar víctimas está afilada, pulida está para que relumbre. ¿Hemos de alegrarnos? Al cetro de mi hijo la espada lo desprecia como a todo otro leño.

11 A nd the sword is given to be polished that it may be put to use; the sword is sharpened and polished to be given into the hand of the slayer.

Y la dio a pulir para tenerla a mano; la espada está afilada, y está pulida para entregarla en mano del matador.

12 C ry and wail, son of man, for it is against My people; it is against all the princes of Israel; they are thrown to the sword along with My people, and terrors by reason of the sword are upon My people. Therefore smite your thigh.

Clama y laméntate, oh hijo de hombre; porque ésta pende sobre mi pueblo, ella caerá sobre todos los príncipes de Israel; caerán ellos a espada juntamente con mi pueblo; golpéate, pues, el muslo;

13 F or this sword has been tested and proved, and what if the rejecting and despising rod or scepter of Judah shall be no more but completely swept away? says the Lord God.

porque ha hecho la prueba con ella. ¿Y qué, si la espada desprecia aun al cetro? Él cesará de existir, dice el Señor Jehová.

14 T herefore, son of man, prophesy and smite your hands together and let the sword be doubled, yes, trebled in intensity—the sword for those to be overthrown and pierced through; it is the sword of great slaughter which encompasses them.

Tú, pues, hijo de hombre, profetiza, y bate palmas, y duplíquese por tercera vez el furor de la espada homicida; ésta es la espada de la gran matanza que los traspasará;

15 I have set the threatening and glittering sword against all their gates, that their hearts may melt and their stumblings be multiplied. Ah! It is made like lightning; it is pointed and sharpened for slaughter.

para que el corazón se derrita, y los trompicones se multipliquen, en todas las puertas de ellos he puesto la punta de la espada. ¡Ah!, dispuesta está para que relumbre, y preparada para degollar.

16 T urn and cut right or cut left, whichever way your lust for blood and your edge direct you.

Corta a la derecha, hiere a la izquierda, ¿adónde vuelves tu faz?

17 I will also clap My hands, and I will cause My wrath to rest. I the Lord have said it.

Y yo también batiré palmas, y satisfaré mi ira. Yo Jehová he hablado.

18 T he word of the Lord came to me again, saying,

Vino a mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:

19 A lso, son of man, mark out two ways by which the sword of the king of Babylon may come; both shall come forth from the same land. And make a signpost (a hand); make it at the head of the way to a city.

Ahora, hijo de hombre, trázate dos caminos por donde venga la espada del rey de Babilonia; de una misma tierra saldrán ambos; y pon una señal al comienzo de cada camino, que indique la ciudad adonde va.

20 Y ou shall point out a way for the sword to come to Rabbah of the sons of Ammon and to Judah with Jerusalem, the fortified and inaccessible.

Señalarás el camino por donde venga la espada a Rabá de los hijos de Amón, y a Judá contra Jerusalén, la ciudad fortificada.

21 F or the king of Babylon stands at the parting of the way, at the fork of the two ways, to use divination. He shakes the arrows to and fro, he consults the teraphim (household gods), he looks at the liver.

Porque el rey de Babilonia se ha detenido en la encrucijada, al principio de los dos caminos, para usar de adivinación; ha sacudido las saetas, consultó a sus ídolos, examinó el hígado.

22 I n his right hand is the lot marked for Jerusalem: to set battering rams, to open the mouth calling for slaughter, to lift up the voice with a war cry, to set battering rams against the gates, to cast up siege mounds, and to build siege towers.

La adivinación señaló a su mano derecha, sobre Jerusalén, para situar arietes, para abrir la boca con orden de matanza, para levantar la voz en grito de guerra, para poner arietes contra las puertas, levantar terraplén y edificar baluartes.

23 A nd it shall seem like a lying divination to them who have sworn oaths. But he will remind them of their guilt and iniquity, that they may be caught.

Mas para ellos esto será como adivinación mentirosa, ya que les ha hecho solemnes juramentos; pero él trae a la memoria la maldad de ellos, para apresarlos.

24 T herefore thus says the Lord God: Because you have made your guilt and iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are uncovered, so that in all your doings your sins appear—because, I say, you have come to remembrance, you shall be taken with the hand.

Por tanto, así dice el Señor Jehová: Por cuanto habéis hecho traer a la memoria vuestras maldades, manifestando vuestras traiciones, y descubriendo vuestros pecados en todas vuestras obras; por cuanto habéis venido en memoria, seréis entregados en su mano.

25 A nd you, O dishonored and wicked one, the prince of Israel, whose day will come at the time of your final reckoning and punishment,

Y tú, profano e impío príncipe de Israel, cuyo día ha llegado ya, el tiempo de la consumación de la maldad,

26 T hus says the Lord God: Remove the miter or headband and take off the crown; things shall not remain as they have been; the low is to be exalted and the high is to be brought low.

así ha dicho el Señor Jehová: La tiara se depondrá, y se quitará la corona; esto no será más así; será exaltado lo bajo, y humillado lo alto.

27 I will overthrow, overthrow, overthrow it; this also shall be no more until He comes Whose right it is, and I will give it to Him.

A ruina, a ruina, a ruina lo reduciré, y esto no será más, hasta que venga aquel cuyo es el derecho, y yo se lo entregaré. Juicio contra los amonitas

28 A nd you, son of man, prophesy and say, Thus says the Lord God concerning the sons of Ammon and concerning their reproach: Say, A sword, a sword is drawn for the slaughter; it is polished to cause it to devour to the uttermost and to flash like lightning,

Y tú, hijo de hombre, profetiza, y di: Así dice el Señor Jehová acerca de los hijos de Amón, y de su oprobio. Dirás, pues: La espada, la espada está desenvainada para degollar. Está pulida con todo esmero para centellear;

29 W hile they see for you false visions, while they divine lies for you to lay you upon the headless trunks of those who are slain, of the wicked whose day is coming at the time of the final reckoning and punishment.

mientras te profetizan vanidad, y te adivinan mentira, para hacerte caer sobre los cuellos de los malvados sentenciados a muerte, cuyo día vino en el tiempo de la consumación de la maldad.

30 R eturn to its sheath. In the place where you were created, in the land of your origin and of your birth, I will judge you.

¡Hazla volver a su vaina! En el lugar donde fuiste creada, en la tierra de tu origen, te juzgaré,

31 A nd I will pour out My indignation upon you; I will blow upon you with the fire of My wrath and will deliver you into the hand of brutish men, skillful to destroy.

y derramaré sobre ti mi indignación; haré encender sobre ti el fuego de mi enojo, y te entregaré en mano de hombres brutales, expertos en destruir.

32 Y ou shall be for fuel to the fire; your blood shall be in the midst of the land; you shall be no more remembered, for I the Lord have spoken it.

Serás pasto del fuego; se empapará la tierra de tu sangre; no habrá más memoria de ti, porque yo, Jehová, he hablado.
