1 E very wise woman builds her house, but the foolish one tears it down with her own hands.

La sabiduría edifica su casa; Mas la necedad con sus manos la derriba.

2 H e who walks in uprightness reverently and worshipfully fears the Lord, but he who is contrary and devious in his ways despises Him.

El que camina en rectitud, teme a Jehová; Mas el de caminos tortuosos, lo menosprecia.

3 I n the fool’s own mouth is a rod his pride, but the wise men’s lips preserve them.

En la boca del necio está la raíz de su soberbia; Mas los labios de los sabios los protegerán.

4 W here no oxen are, the grain crib is empty, but much increase comes by the strength of the ox.

Sin bueyes, el granero está vacío; Mas por la fuerza del buey hay abundancia de pan.

5 A faithful witness will not lie, but a false witness breathes out falsehoods.

El testigo verdadero no mentirá; Mas el testigo falso hablará mentiras.

6 A scoffer seeks Wisdom in vain, but knowledge is easy to him who understands.

Busca el escarnecedor la sabiduría y no la halla; Mas al hombre entendido la sabiduría le es fácil.

7 G o from the presence of a foolish and self-confident man, for you will not find knowledge on his lips.

Deja la compañía del hombre necio, Porque en él no hallarás labios de ciencia.

8 T he Wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way, but the folly of fools is to deceive.

La ciencia del prudente está en discernir su camino; Mas la indiscreción de los necios es engaño.

9 F ools make a mock of sin and sin mocks the fools, but among the upright there is the favor of God.

Los necios se mofan del pecado; Mas los rectos disfrutan del favor de Dios.

10 T he heart knows its own bitterness, and no stranger shares its joy.

El corazón conoce la amargura de su propia alma; Y ningún extraño se entremeterá en su alegría.

11 T he house of the wicked shall be overthrown, but the tent of the upright shall flourish.

La casa de los impíos será asolada; Pero florecerá la tienda de los rectos.

12 T here is a way which seems right to a man and appears straight before him, but at the end of it is the way of death.

Hay camino que al hombre le parece derecho; Pero al final es un camino de muerte.

13 E ven in laughter the heart is sorrowful, and the end of mirth is heaviness and grief.

Aun en la risa tendrá dolor el corazón; Y el término de la alegría es congoja.

14 T he backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways, and a good man shall be satisfied with his ways.

De sus caminos recibirá hartura el necio de corazón; Pero el hombre de bien estará contento del suyo.

15 T he simpleton believes every word he hears, but the prudent man looks and considers well where he is going.

El simple todo se lo cree; Mas el avisado mira bien sus pasos.

16 A wise man suspects danger and cautiously avoids evil, but the fool bears himself insolently and is confident.

El sabio teme y se aparta del mal; Mas el insensato se muestra insolente y confiado.

17 H e who foams up quickly and flies into a passion deals foolishly, and a man of wicked plots and plans is hated.

El que fácilmente se enoja hará locuras; Y el hombre perverso será aborrecido.

18 T he simple acquire folly, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

Los simples heredarán necedad; Mas los prudentes se coronarán de sabiduría.

19 T he evil men bow before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

Los malos se inclinarán delante de los buenos, Y los impíos a las puertas del justo.

20 T he poor is hated even by his own neighbor, but the rich has many friends.

El pobre es odioso aun a sus parientes; Pero el rico tiene muchos amigos.

21 H e who despises his neighbor sins, but happy (blessed and fortunate) is he who is kind and merciful to the poor.

Peca el que menosprecia a su prójimo; Mas el que tiene misericordia de los pobres es dichoso.

22 D o they not err who devise evil and wander from the way of life? But loving-kindness and mercy, loyalty and faithfulness, shall be to those who devise good.

¿No yerran los que planean el mal? Misericordia y verdad alcanzarán los que piensan el bien.

23 I n all labor there is profit, but idle talk leads only to poverty.

En toda labor hay fruto; Mas las vanas palabras de los labios empobrecen.

24 T he crown of the wise is their wealth of Wisdom, but the foolishness of fools is folly.

Las riquezas de los sabios son su corona; Pero la insensatez de los necios es infatuación.

25 A truthful witness saves lives, but a deceitful witness speaks lies.

El testigo verdadero libra las almas; Mas el engañoso hablará mentiras.

26 I n the reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, and His children shall always have a place of refuge.

En el temor de Jehová está la fuerte confianza; Y esperanza tendrán sus hijos.

27 R everent and worshipful fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, that one may avoid the snares of death.

El temor de Jehová es manantial de vida Para apartarse de los lazos de la muerte.

28 I n a multitude of people is the king’s glory, but in a lack of people is the prince’s ruin.

En la multitud del pueblo está la gloria del rey; Y en la falta del pueblo la debilidad del príncipe.

29 H e who is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who is hasty of spirit exposes and exalts his folly.

El que tarda en airarse es grande de entendimiento; Mas el de genio pronto, está lleno de necedad.

30 A calm and undisturbed mind and heart are the life and health of the body, but envy, jealousy, and wrath are like rottenness of the bones.

El corazón apacible es vida para el cuerpo; Mas la envidia es carcoma de los huesos.

31 H e who oppresses the poor reproaches, mocks, and insults his Maker, but he who is kind and merciful to the needy honors Him.

El que oprime al pobre, afrenta a su Hacedor; Mas el que tiene misericordia del pobre, lo honra.

32 T he wicked is overthrown through his wrongdoing and calamity, but the righteous has hope and confidence even in death.

Por su maldad será derribado el impío; Mas el justo aun en su muerte tiene esperanza.

33 W isdom rests in the mind and heart of him who has understanding, but that which is in the inward part of fools is made known.

En el corazón del prudente reposa la sabiduría; Pero no es conocida en el interior de los necios.

34 U prightness and right standing with God (moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation) elevate a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.

La justicia engrandece a las naciones; Mas el pecado es la vergüenza de los pueblos.

35 T he king’s favor is toward a wise and discreet servant, but his wrath is against him who does shamefully.

La benevolencia del rey es para con el servidor prudente; Mas su enojo, contra el que le avergüenza.
