1 G ive ear, O heavens, and I will speak; and let the earth hear the words of my mouth.

Escuchad, cielos, y hablaré; Y oiga la tierra los dichos de mi boca.

2 M y message shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the light rain upon the tender grass, and as the showers upon the herb.

Goteará como la lluvia mi enseñanza; Destilará como el rocío mi razonamiento; Como la llovizna sobre la grama, Y como las gotas sobre la hierba;

3 F or I will proclaim the name of the Lord. Concede and ascribe greatness to our God.

Porque el nombre de Jehová proclamaré. Engrandeced a nuestro Dios.

4 H e is the Rock, His work is perfect, for all His ways are law and justice. A God of faithfulness without breach or deviation, just and right is He.

Él es la Roca, cuya obra es perfecta, Porque todos sus caminos son rectitud; Dios de verdad, y sin ninguna iniquidad en él; Es justo y recto.

5 T hey have spoiled themselves. They are not sons to Him, and that is their blemish—a perverse and crooked generation!

La corrupción no es suya; de sus hijos es la mancha, Generación torcida y perversa.

6 D o you thus repay the Lord, you foolish and senseless people? Is not He your Father Who acquired you for His own, Who made and established you ?

¿Así pagáis a Jehová, Pueblo loco e ignorante? ¿No es él tu padre que te creó? Él te hizo y te estableció.

7 R emember the days of old; consider the years of many generations. Ask your father and he will show you, your elders, and they will tell you.

Acuérdate de los tiempos antiguos, Considera los años de muchas generaciones; Pregunta a tu padre, y él te declarará; A tus ancianos, y ellos te dirán.

8 W hen the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when He separated the children of men, He set the bounds of the peoples according to the number of the Israelites.

Cuando el Altísimo hizo heredar a las naciones, Cuando hizo dividir a los hijos de los hombres, Estableció los límites de los pueblos Según el número de los hijos de Israel.

9 F or the Lord’s portion is His people; Jacob (Israel) is the lot of His inheritance.

Porque la porción de Jehová es su pueblo; Jacob la heredad que le tocó.

10 H e found him in a desert land, in the howling void of the wilderness; He kept circling around him, He scanned him, He kept him as the pupil of His eye.

Le halló en tierra de desierto, Y en yermo de horrible soledad; Lo trajo alrededor, lo instruyó, Lo guardó como a la niña de su ojo.

11 A s an eagle that stirs up her nest, that flutters over her young, He spread abroad His wings and He took them, He bore them on His pinions.

Como el águila que excita su nidada, Revolotea sobre sus pollos, Extiende sus alas, los toma, Los lleva sobre sus plumas,

12 S o the Lord alone led him; there was no foreign god with Him.

Jehová solo le guió, Y con él no hubo dios extraño.

13 H e made Israel ride on the high places of the earth, and he ate the increase of the field; and He made him suck honey out of the rock and oil out of the flinty rock,

Lo hizo subir sobre las alturas de la tierra. Y comer los frutos del campo. Le dio a gustar miel de la peña, Y aceite del duro pedernal;

14 B utter and curds of the herd and milk of the flock, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of Bashan, and he-goats, with the finest of the wheat; and you drank wine of the blood of the grape.

Mantequilla de vacas y leche de ovejas, Con grosura de corderos, Y carneros de Basán; también machos cabríos, Con lo mejor del trigo; Y por bebida la sangre roja de la uva.

15 B ut Jeshurun (Israel) grew fat and kicked. You became fat, you grew thick, you were gorged and sleek! Then he forsook God Who made him and forsook and despised the Rock of his salvation.

Pero engordó Jesurún, y tiró coces (Engordaste, te cubriste de grasa); Entonces rechazó a Dios su Hacedor, Y menospreció la Roca de su salvación.

16 T hey provoked Him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations they provoked Him to anger.

Le despertaron a celos con los dioses ajenos; Lo provocaron a ira con abominaciones.

17 T hey sacrificed to demons, not to God—to gods whom they knew not, to new gods lately come up, whom your fathers never knew or feared.

Sacrificaron a los demonios, y no a Dios; A dioses a los que no habían conocido, A nuevos dioses venidos de cerca, Que no habían temido vuestros padres.

18 O f the Rock Who bore you you were unmindful; you forgot the God Who travailed in your birth.

De la Roca que te creó te olvidaste; Te has olvidado de Dios tu creador.

19 A nd the Lord saw it and He spurned and rejected them, out of indignation with His sons and His daughters.

Y lo vio Jehová, y se encendió en ira Por el menosprecio de sus hijos y de sus hijas.

20 A nd He said, I will hide My face from them, I will see what their end will be; for they are a perverse generation, children in whom is no faithfulness.

Y dijo: Esconderé de ellos mi rostro, Veré cuál será su fin; Porque son una generación perversa, Hijos infieles.

21 T hey have moved Me to jealousy with what is not God; they have angered Me with their idols. So I will move them to jealousy with those who are not a people; I will anger them with a foolish nation.

Ellos me movieron a celos con lo que no es Dios; Me provocaron a ira con sus ídolos; Yo también los moveré a celos con un pueblo que no es pueblo, Los provocaré a ira con una nación insensata.

22 F or a fire is kindled by My anger, and it burns to the depths of Sheol, devours the earth with its increase, and sets on fire the foundations of the mountains.

Porque fuego se ha encendido en mi ira, Y arderá hasta las profundidades del Seol; Devorará la tierra y sus frutos, Y abrasará los fundamentos de los montes.

23 A nd I will heap evils upon them; I will spend My arrows upon them.

Yo amontonaré males sobre ellos; Emplearé en ellos mis saetas.

24 T hey shall be wasted with hunger and devoured with burning heat and poisonous pestilence; and the teeth of beasts will I send against them, with the poison of crawling things of the dust.

Consumidos serán de hambre, y devorados de fiebre ardiente Y de peste amarga; Diente de fieras enviaré también sobre ellos, Con veneno de serpientes de la tierra.

25 F rom without the sword shall bereave, and in the chambers shall be terror, destroying both young man and virgin, the sucking child with the man of gray hairs.

Por fuera desolará la espada, Y dentro de las casas el espanto; Así al joven como a la doncella, Al niño de pecho como al hombre cano.

26 I said, I would scatter them afar and I would have made the remembrance of them to cease from among men,

Yo había dicho que los esparciría lejos, Que haría cesar de entre los hombres la memoria de ellos,

27 H ad I not feared the provocation of the foe, lest their enemies misconstrue it and lest they should say, Our own hand has prevailed; all this was not the work of the Lord.

De no haber temido la provocación del enemigo, No sea que se envanezcan sus adversarios, No sea que digan: Nuestra mano poderosa Ha hecho todo esto, y no Jehová.

28 F or they are a nation void of counsel, and there is no understanding in them.

Porque son nación privada de consejos, Y no hay en ellos entendimiento.

29 O that they were wise and would see through this to their ultimate fate!

¡Ojalá fueran sabios, que comprendieran esto, Y se dieran cuenta del fin que les espera!

30 H ow could one have chased a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the Lord had delivered them up?

¿Cómo podría perseguir uno a mil, Y dos hacer huir a diez mil, Si su Roca no los hubiese vendido, Y Jehová no los hubiera entregado?

31 F or their rock is not like our Rock, even our enemies themselves judge this.

Porque la roca de ellos no es como nuestra Roca, Y aun nuestros enemigos son de ello jueces.

32 F or their vine comes from the vine of Sodom and from the fields of Gomorrah; their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter.

Porque de la vid de Sodoma es la vid de ellos, Y de los campos de Gomorra; Las uvas de ellos son uvas ponzoñosas, Racimos muy amargos tienen.

33 T heir wine is the venom of serpents, and the pitiless poison of vipers.

Veneno de serpientes es su vino, Y ponzoña cruel de áspides.

34 I s not this laid up in store with Me, sealed up in My treasuries?

Pero él, ¿no está guardado conmigo, Sellado como una joya de mi tesorería?

35 V engeance is Mine, and recompense, in the time when their foot shall slide; for the day of their disaster is at hand and their doom comes speedily.

Mía es la venganza y la retribución; Para el momento en que su pie resbale, Porque el día de su aflicción está cercano, Y lo que les está preparado se apresura.

36 F or the Lord will revoke sentence for His people and relent for His servants’ sake when He sees that their power is gone and none remains, whether bond or free.

Porque Jehová juzgará a su pueblo, Y se apiadará de sus siervos, Cuando vea que su fuerza se agotó, Y que no queda ni siervo ni libre.

37 A nd He will say, Where are their gods, the rock in which they took refuge,

Y dirá: ¿Dónde están sus dioses, La roca en que se refugiaban;

38 W ho ate the fat of their sacrifices and drank the wine of their drink offering? Let them rise up and help you, let them be your protection!

Que comían la grosura de sus sacrificios, Y bebían el vino de sus libaciones? ¡Levántense, y que os salven! ¡Sean ellos vuestro amparo!

39 S ee now that I, I am He, and there is no god beside Me; I kill and I make alive, I wound and I heal, and there is none who can deliver out of My hand.

Ved ahora que sólo yo soy, Y no hay dioses conmigo; Yo hago morir, y yo hago vivir; Yo hiero, y yo sano; Y no hay quien pueda librar de mi mano.

40 F or I lift up My hand to heaven and swear, As I live forever,

Si alzo al cielo mi mano, Y digo: Vivo yo para siempre,

41 I f I whet My lightning sword and My hand takes hold on judgment, I will wreak vengeance on My foes and recompense those who hate Me.

Cuando afile mi espada reluciente, Y mi mano empuñe el juicio, Yo tomaré venganza de mis adversarios, Y daré el pago a los que me aborrecen.

42 I will make My arrows drunk with blood, and My sword shall devour flesh, with the blood of the slain and the captives, from the long-haired heads of the foe.

Embriagaré de sangre mis saetas, Y mi espada devorará carne; La sangre de los muertos y de los cautivos, En las cabezas de los caudillos enemigos.

43 R ejoice His people, O you nations, for He avenges the blood of His servants, and vengeance He inflicts on His foes and clears guilt from the land of His people.

Alabad, naciones, a su pueblo, Porque él vengará la sangre de sus siervos, Y dará el pago a sus enemigos, Y hará expiación por la tierra de su pueblo.

44 A nd Moses came and spoke all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he and Hoshea (Joshua) son of Nun.

Vino Moisés y recitó todas las palabras de este cántico a oídos del pueblo, él y Josué hijo de Nun.

45 A nd when Moses had finished speaking all these words to all Israel,

Y acabó Moisés de recitar todas estas palabras a todo Israel;

46 H e said to them, Set your hearts on all the words which I command you this day, that you may command them to your children, that they may be watchful to do all the words of this law.

y les dijo: Aplicad vuestro corazón a todas las palabras que yo os testifico hoy, para que las mandéis a vuestros hijos, a fin de que cuiden de cumplir todas las palabras de esta ley.

47 F or it is not an empty and worthless trifle for you; it is your life. By it you shall live long in the land which you are going over the Jordan to possess.

Porque no os es cosa vana; es vuestra vida, y por medio de esta ley haréis prolongar vuestros días sobre la tierra adonde vais, pasando el Jordán, para tomar posesión de ella.

48 A nd the Lord said to Moses that same day,

Y habló Jehová a Moisés aquel mismo día, diciendo:

49 G et up into this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, opposite Jericho, and look at the land of Canaan which I give to the Israelites for a possession.

Sube a este monte de Abarim, al monte Nebo, situado en la tierra de Moab que está frente a Jericó, y mira la tierra de Canaán, que yo doy por heredad a los hijos de Israel;

50 A nd die on the mountain which you ascend and be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother died on Mount Hor and was gathered to his people,

y muere en el monte al cual subes, y te irás a reunir con los tuyos, así como murió Aarón tu hermano en el monte Hor, y fue unido a su pueblo;

51 B ecause you broke faith with Me in the midst of the Israelites at the waters of Meribah-kadesh in the Wilderness of Zin and because you did not set Me apart as holy in the midst of the Israelites.

por cuanto pecasteis contra mí en medio de los hijos de Israel en las aguas de Meribá de Cadés, en el desierto de Zin; porque no me santificasteis en medio de los hijos de Israel.

52 F or you shall see the land opposite you at a distance, but you shall not go there, into the land which I give the Israelites.

Verás, por tanto, delante de ti la tierra; mas no entrarás allá, a la tierra que doy a los hijos de Israel.
