1 W hoever loves instruction and correction loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is like a brute beast, stupid and indiscriminating.

El que ama la instrucción ama la sabiduría; Mas el que aborrece la reprensión es un ignorante.

2 A good man obtains favor from the Lord, but a man of wicked devices He condemns.

El bueno alcanzará favor de Jehová; Mas él condenará al hombre que maquina intrigas.

3 A man shall not be established by wickedness, but the root of the righteous shall never be moved.

El hombre no se afianzará por medio de la impiedad; Mas la raíz de los justos no será removida.

4 A virtuous and worthy wife is a crowning joy to her husband, but she who makes him ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

La mujer virtuosa es corona de su marido; Mas la desvergonzada, como carcoma en sus huesos.

5 T he thoughts and purposes of the righteous are honest and reliable, but the counsels and designs of the wicked are treacherous.

Los pensamientos de los justos son rectitud; Mas los consejos de los impíos, engaño.

6 T he words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them and the innocent ones.

Las palabras de los impíos son asechanzas para derramar sangre; Mas la boca de los rectos los pone a salvo.

7 T he wicked are overthrown and are not, but the house of the righteous shall stand.

Dios trastornará a los impíos, y dejarán de ser; Pero la casa de los justos permanecerá firme.

8 A man shall be commended according to his Wisdom, but he who is of a perverse heart shall be despised.

Según su sabiduría es alabado el hombre; Mas el perverso de corazón será menospreciado.

9 B etter is he who is lightly esteemed but works for his own support than he who assumes honor for himself and lacks bread.

Más vale el despreciado que tiene un criado, Que el que se jacta, y carece de pan.

10 A righteous man regards the life of his beast, but even the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

El justo cuida del sustento de sus bestias; Mas el corazón de los impíos es cruel.

11 H e who tills his land shall be satisfied with bread, but he who follows worthless pursuits is lacking in sense and is without understanding.

El que labra su tierra se saciará de pan; Mas el que anda a la caza de naderías es falto de entendimiento.

12 T he wicked desire the booty of evil men, but the root of the righteous yields.

El impío codicia la red de los malvados; Pero la raíz de los justos dará buen fruto.

13 T he wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips, but the righteous shall come out of trouble.

El impío es enredado en la prevaricación de sus labios; Mas el justo saldrá de la tribulación.

14 F rom the fruit of his words a man shall be satisfied with good, and the work of a man’s hands shall come back to him.

El hombre será saciado de bien del fruto de su boca; Y le será pagado según la obra de sus manos.

15 T he way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who listens to counsel is wise.

El camino del necio es derecho en su opinión; Mas el que escucha los consejos es sabio.

16 A fool’s wrath is quickly and openly known, but a prudent man ignores an insult.

El necio al punto da a conocer su ira; Mas el que no hace caso de la injuria es prudente.

17 H e who breathes out truth shows forth righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God), but a false witness utters deceit.

El que habla verdad declara lo que es justo; Mas el testigo mentiroso, lo que es falso.

18 T here are those who speak rashly, like the piercing of a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.

Hay hombres cuyas palabras inconsideradas son como golpes de espada; Mas la lengua de los sabios es medicina.

19 T ruthful lips shall be established forever, but a lying tongue is but for a moment.

El labio veraz permanecerá para siempre; Mas la lengua mentirosa sólo por un momento.

20 D eceit is in the hearts of those who devise evil, but for the counselors of peace there is joy.

Hay amargura en el corazón de los que piensan el mal; Pero alegría en el de los que piensan el bien.

21 N o evil, misfortune, or calamity shall come upon the righteous, but the wicked shall be filled with evil, misfortune, and calamity.

Ninguna adversidad acontecerá al justo; Mas los impíos serán colmados de males.

22 L ying lips are extremely disgusting and hateful to the Lord, but they who deal faithfully are His delight.

Los labios mentirosos son abominación a Jehová; Pero los que son sinceros alcanzan su favor.

23 A prudent man is reluctant to display his knowledge, but the heart of fools proclaims their folly.

El hombre cuerdo encubre su saber; Mas el insensato publica su necedad.

24 T he hand of the diligent will rule, but the slothful will be put to forced labor.

La mano de los diligentes obtendrá el mando; Mas la negligencia será tributaria.

25 A nxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but an encouraging word makes it glad.

La congoja en el corazón del hombre lo abate; Mas la buena palabra lo alegra.

26 T he righteous man is a guide to his neighbor, but the way of the wicked causes others to go astray.

El justo sirve de guía a su prójimo; Mas el camino de los impíos les hace errar.

27 T he slothful man does not catch his game or roast it once he kills it, but the diligent man gets precious possessions.

El indolente ni aun asará lo que ha cazado; Pero la diligencia es un tesoro para el hombre.

28 L ife is in the way of righteousness (moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation), and in its pathway there is no death but immortality (perpetual, eternal life).

En el camino de la justicia está la vida; Mas la senda del error conduce a la muerte.
