1 N ow the Philistines gathered all their forces at Aphek, and the Israelites encamped by the fountain in Jezreel.

Los filisteos juntaron todas sus fuerzas en Afec, e Israel acampó junto a la fuente que está en Jizreel.

2 A s the Philistine lords were passing on by hundreds and by thousands, and David and his men were in the rear with Achish,

Y cuando los príncipes de los filisteos pasaban revista a sus compañías de a ciento y de a mil hombres, David y sus hombres iban en la retaguardia con Aquís.

3 T he Philistine princes said, What are these Hebrews doing here? Achish said to the Philistine princes, Is not this David, the servant of Saul king of Israel, who has been with me these days and years, and I have found no fault in him since he deserted to me to this day?

Y dijeron los príncipes de los filisteos: ¿Qué hacen aquí estos hebreos? Y Aquís respondió a los príncipes de los filisteos: ¿No es éste David, el siervo de Saúl rey de Israel, que ha estado conmigo por días y años, y no he hallado falta en él desde el día que se pasó a mí hasta hoy?

4 A nd the Philistine princes were angry with Achish and they said to him, Make this fellow return, that he may go again to his place where you have assigned him, and let him not go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he become an adversary to us. For how could David reconcile himself to his master? Would it not be with the heads of the men here?

Entonces los príncipes de los filisteos se enojaron contra él, y le dijeron: Despide a este hombre, para que se vuelva al lugar que le señalaste, y no venga con nosotros a la batalla, no sea que en la batalla se nos vuelva enemigo; porque ¿con qué cosa volvería mejor a la gracia de su señor que con las cabezas de estos hombres?

5 I s not this David, of whom they sang to one another in dances, Saul slew his thousands, and David his ten thousands?

¿No es éste David, de quien cantaban en las danzas, diciendo: Saúl hirió a sus miles, Y David a sus diez miles?

6 T hen Achish called David and said to him, As surely as the Lord lives, you have been honest and upright, and for you to go out and come in with me in the army is good in my sight; for I have found no evil in you from the day of your coming to me to this day. Yet the lords do not approve of you.

Y Aquís llamó a David y le dijo: Vive Jehová, que tú has sido recto, y que me ha parecido bien tu salida y tu entrada en el campamento conmigo, y que ninguna cosa mala he hallado en ti desde el día que viniste a mí hasta hoy; mas a los ojos de los jefes no agradas.

7 S o return now and go peaceably, so as not to displease the Philistine lords.

Vuélvete, pues, y vete en paz, para no desagradar a los jefes de los filisteos.

8 D avid said to Achish, But what have I done? And what have you found in your servant as long as I have been with you to this day, that I may not go and fight against the enemies of my lord the king?

Y David respondió a Aquís: ¿Qué he hecho? ¿Qué has hallado en tu siervo desde el día que estoy contigo hasta hoy, para que yo no vaya y pelee contra los enemigos de mi señor el rey?

9 A nd Achish said to David, I know that you are as blameless in my sight as an angel of God; nevertheless the princes of the Philistines have said, He shall not go up with us to the battle.

Y Aquís respondió a David, y dijo: Yo sé que tú eres bueno ante mis ojos, como un ángel de Dios; pero los jefes de los filisteos me han dicho: No venga con nosotros a la batalla.

10 S o now rise up early in the morning, with your master’s servants who have come with you, and as soon as you are up and have light, depart.

Levántate, pues, de mañana, tú y los siervos de tu señor que han venido contigo; y levantándoos al amanecer, marchad.

11 S o David and his men rose up early in the morning to return to the land of the Philistines. But the Philistines went up to Jezreel.

Y se levantó David de mañana, él y sus hombres, para irse y volver a la tierra de los filisteos; y los filisteos fueron a Jizreel.
