3 I thank my God in all my remembrance of you.

Doy gracias a mi Dios siempre que me acuerdo de vosotros,

4 I n every prayer of mine I always make my entreaty and petition for you all with joy (delight).

rogando siempre en todas mis oraciones con gozo por todos vosotros,

5 f or your fellowship (your sympathetic cooperation and contributions and partnership) in advancing the good news (the Gospel) from the first day until now.

por vuestra comunión en el evangelio, desde el primer día hasta ahora;

6 A nd I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ, developing and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.

estando persuadido de esto, que el que comenzó en vosotros la buena obra, la perfeccionará hasta el día de Jesucristo;

7 I t is right and appropriate for me to have this confidence and feel this way about you all, because you have me in your heart and I hold you in my heart as partakers and sharers, one and all with me, of grace (God’s unmerited favor and spiritual blessing). both when I am shut up in prison and when I am out in the defense and confirmation of the good news (the Gospel).

como me es justo sentir esto de todos vosotros, por cuanto os tengo en el corazón; y en mis prisiones, y en la defensa y consolidación del evangelio, todos vosotros sois participantes conmigo de la gracia.

8 F or God is my witness how I long for and pursue you all with love, in the tender mercy of Christ Jesus!

Porque Dios me es testigo de cómo os añoro a todos vosotros con el entrañable amor de Jesucristo.

9 A nd this I pray: that your love may abound yet more and more and extend to its fullest development in knowledge and all keen insight '> display itself in greater depth of acquaintance and more comprehensive discernment],

Y esto pido en oración, que vuestro amor abunde aún más y más en conocimiento perfecto y en todo discernimiento,

10 S o that you may surely learn to sense what is vital, and approve and prize what is excellent and of real value, and that you may be untainted and pure and unerring and blameless the day of Christ.

para que sepáis aquilatar las cosas más importantes, a fin de que seáis sinceros e irreprensibles para el día de Cristo,

11 M ay you abound in and be filled with the fruits of righteousness (of right standing with God and right doing) which come through Jesus Christ (the Anointed One), to the honor and praise of God '> that His glory may be both manifested and recognized].

llenos de frutos de justicia que son por medio de Jesucristo, para gloria y alabanza de Dios. Para mí el vivir es Cristo

12 N ow I want you to know and continue to rest assured, brethren, that what to me has actually only served to advance and give a renewed impetus to the good news (the Gospel).

Quiero que sepáis, hermanos, que las cosas que me han sucedido han redundado más bien para el progreso del evangelio,

13 S o much is this a fact that throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest my imprisonment has become generally known to be in Christ.

de tal manera que mis prisiones por la causa de Cristo se han hecho notorias en todo el pretorio, y a todos los demás.

14 A nd most of the brethren have derived fresh confidence in the Lord because of my chains and are much more bold to speak and publish fearlessly the Word of God.

Y la mayoría de los hermanos, alentados en el Señor por mis cadenas, se atreven mucho más a hablar la palabra sin temor.

15 S ome, it is true, preach Christ (the Messiah) out of envy and rivalry (party spirit), but others are doing so out of a loyal spirit and goodwill.

Algunos, a la verdad, predican a Cristo por envidia y rivalidad; pero otros, de buena voluntad.

16 T he latter out of love, because they recognize and know that I am put here for the defense of the good news (the Gospel).

Los unos anuncian a Cristo por rivalidad, no sinceramente, pensando añadir aflicción a mis prisiones;

17 B ut the former preach Christ out of a party spirit, insincerely, supposing they are making my bondage more bitter and my chains more galling.

pero los otros, por amor, sabiendo que estoy puesto para la defensa del evangelio.

18 B ut what does it matter, so long as either way, whether in pretense or in all honesty, Christ is being proclaimed? And in that I rejoice, yes, and I shall rejoice also.

¿Qué, pues? Que no obstante, de todas maneras, o por pretexto o por verdad, Cristo es anunciado; y en esto me gozo, y me gozaré aún.

19 F or I am well assured and indeed know that through your prayers and a bountiful supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ (the Messiah) this will turn out for my preservation (for the spiritual health and welfare of my own soul) and avail toward the saving work of the Gospel.

Porque sé que por vuestra oración y la suministración del Espíritu de Jesucristo, esto resultará en mi liberación,

20 T his is in keeping with my own eager desire and persistent expectation and hope, that I shall not disgrace myself nor be put to shame in anything; but that with the utmost freedom of speech and unfailing courage, now as always heretofore, Christ (the Messiah) will be magnified and get glory and praise in this body of mine and be boldly exalted in my person, whether through (by) life or through (by) death.

conforme a mi anhelo y esperanza de que en nada seré avergonzado; antes bien con toda confianza, como siempre, ahora también será magnificado Cristo en mi cuerpo, o por vida o por muerte.

21 F or me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Porque para mí el vivir es Cristo, y el morir es ganancia.

22 I f, however, it is to be life in the flesh and I am to live on here, that means fruitful service for me; so I can say nothing as to my personal preference,

Mas si el vivir en la carne resulta para mí en beneficio de la obra, no sé entonces qué escoger.

23 B ut I am hard pressed between the two. My yearning desire is to depart (to be free of this world, to set forth) and be with Christ, for that is far, far better;

Porque de ambos lados me siento apremiado, teniendo deseo de partir y estar con Cristo, lo cual es muchísimo mejor;

24 B ut to remain in my body is more needful and essential for your sake.

pero quedar en la carne es más necesario por causa de vosotros.

25 S ince I am convinced of this, I know that I shall remain and stay by you all, to promote your progress and joy in believing,

Y confiado en esto, sé que quedaré y permaneceré con todos vosotros, para vuestro provecho y gozo de la fe,

26 S o that in me you may have abundant cause for exultation and glorying in Christ Jesus, through my coming to you again.

para que abunde vuestra gloria de mí en Cristo Jesús por mi presencia otra vez entre vosotros.

27 O nly be sure as citizens so to conduct yourselves your manner of life worthy of the good news (the Gospel) of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear this of you: that you are standing firm in united spirit and purpose, striving side by side and contending with a single mind for the faith of the glad tidings (the Gospel).

Solamente que os comportéis como es digno del evangelio de Cristo, para que, o sea que vaya a veros, o que esté ausente, oiga de vosotros que estáis firmes en un mismo espíritu, combatiendo unánimes por la fe del evangelio,

28 A nd do not be frightened or intimidated in anything by your opponents and adversaries, for such will be a clear sign (proof and seal) to them of destruction, but of your deliverance and salvation, and that from God.

y en nada intimidados por los que se oponen, lo cual para ellos ciertamente es indicio de perdición, mas para vosotros de salvación; y esto viene de Dios.

29 F or you have been granted for Christ’s sake not only to believe in (adhere to, rely on, and trust in) Him, but also to suffer in His behalf.

Porque a vosotros se os ha concedido la gracia, por amor de Cristo, no sólo de que creáis en él, sino también de que padezcáis por él,

30 S o you are engaged in the same conflict which you saw me and which you now hear to be mine.

sosteniendo el mismo combate que habéis visto en mí, y ahora oís que hay en mí.
