1 A nd Jesus said to them, Truly and solemnly I say to you, there are some standing here who will in no way taste death before they see the kingdom of God come in power.

También les decía: En verdad os digo que hay algunos de los que están aquí que no probarán la muerte hasta que vean el reino de Dios cuando haya venido con poder. La transfiguración

2 S ix days after this, Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John and led them up on a high mountain apart by themselves. And He was transfigured before them and became resplendent with divine brightness.

Seis días después, toma Jesús consigo a Pedro, a Jacobo y a Juan, y se los lleva a ellos solos aparte a un monte alto. Y se transfiguró delante de ellos;

3 A nd His garments became glistening, intensely white, as no fuller (cloth dresser, launderer) on earth could bleach them.

y sus vestiduras se volvieron resplandecientes, sumamente blancas, cuales ningún lavador de este mundo puede emblanquecerlas así.

4 A nd Elijah appeared to them, accompanied by Moses, and they were holding conversation with Jesus.

Y se les apareció Elías junto con Moisés, que estaban conversando con Jesús.

5 A nd Peter took up the conversation, saying, Master, it is good and suitable and beautiful for us to be here. Let us make three booths (tents)—one for You and one for Moses and one for Elijah.

Entonces Pedro, tomando la palabra, le dice a Jesús: Rabí, es bueno que nos quedemos aquí; hagamos tres tiendas; una para ti, otra para Moisés, y otra para Elías.

6 F or he did not know what to say, for they were in a violent fright ( aghast with dread).

Pues no sabía qué decir, ya que les había entrado gran espanto.

7 A nd a cloud threw a shadow upon them, and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is My Son, the '> most dearworthy] Beloved One. Be constantly listening to and obeying Him!

Entonces se formó una nube que les hizo sombra, y de la nube salió una voz: Éste es mi hijo, el Amado, escuchadle.

8 A nd looking around, they suddenly no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus only.

Y de pronto, mirando en torno suyo, ya no vieron a nadie, excepto a Jesús solo con ellos.

9 A nd as they were coming back down the mountain, He admonished and expressly ordered them to tell no one what they had seen until the Son of Man should rise from among the dead.

Cuando iban bajando del monte, les ordenó que a nadie contaran lo que habían visto, excepto cuando el Hijo del Hombre se levantara de los muertos.

10 S o they carefully and faithfully kept the matter to themselves, questioning and disputing with one another about what rising from among the dead meant.

Y retuvieron este dicho, debatiendo entre ellos qué era eso de levantarse de los muertos.

11 A nd they asked Him, Why do the scribes say that it is necessary for Elijah to come first?

Y comenzaron a preguntarle, diciendo: ¿Por qué dicen los escribas que Elías debe venir primero?

12 A nd He said to them, Elijah, it is true, does come first to restore all things and set them to rights. And how is it written of the Son of Man that He will suffer many things and be utterly despised and be treated with contempt and rejected?

Él les contestó: Es cierto que Elías viene primero a restaurar todas las cosas; como está escrito del Hijo del Hombre que tiene que sufrir mucho y ser tenido en nada.

13 B ut I tell you that Elijah has already come, and did to him whatever they desired, as it is written of him.

Pero os digo que Elías ha venido ya, e hicieron con él cuanto quisieron, tal como está escrito de él. Jesucristo sana a un muchacho endemoniado

14 A nd when they came to the disciples, they saw a great crowd around them and scribes questioning and disputing with them.

Cuando llegaron adonde los discípulos, vieron una gran multitud en torno a ellos, y a unos escribas que debatían con ellos.

15 A nd immediately all the crowd, when they saw Jesus '> returning from the holy mount, His face and person yet glistening], they were greatly amazed and ran up to Him greeted Him.

Tan pronto como toda la multitud le vio, quedaron llenos de sorpresa y corrían a saludarle.

16 A nd He asked them, About what are you questioning and discussing with them?

Y él les preguntó: ¿De qué estáis discutiendo con ellos?

17 A nd one of the throng replied to Him, Teacher, I brought my son to You, for he has a dumb spirit.

Y uno de entre la muchedumbre le respondió: Maestro, te he traído a mi hijo, poseído por un espíritu que le enmudece;

18 A nd wherever it lays hold of him, it dashes him down and convulses him, and he foams and grinds his teeth, and he '> falls into a motionless stupor and] is wasting away. And I asked Your disciples to drive it out, and they were not able.

y dondequiera que se apodera de él, lo desgarra, y él echa espumarajos y cruje los dientes, y se pone rígido. Les dije a tus discípulos que lo expulsaran, pero no fueron capaces.

19 A nd He answered them, O unbelieving generation! How long shall I with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him to Me.

Jesús les respondió, diciendo: ¡Oh generación incrédula! ¿Hasta cuándo estaré con vosotros? ¿Hasta cuándo he de soportaros? ¡Traédmelo!

20 S o they brought to Him, and when the spirit saw Him, at once it completely convulsed the boy, and he fell to the ground and kept rolling about, foaming.

Se lo trajeron. Y cuando el espíritu vio a Jesús, al instante sacudió con violencia al muchacho y, cayendo en tierra, se revolcaba echando espumarajos.

21 A nd asked his father, How long has he had this? And he answered, From the time he was a little boy.

Entonces Jesús preguntó al padre: ¿Cuánto tiempo hace que le viene sucediendo esto? Él dijo: Desde la niñez.

22 A nd it has often thrown him both into fire and into water, intending to kill him. But if You can do anything, do have pity on us and help us.

Y muchas veces le arroja, tanto al fuego como a las aguas, para destruirlo. Pero si tú puedes hacer algo, muévete a compasión sobre nosotros y ayúdanos.

23 A nd Jesus said,, If You can do anything? all things can be (are possible) to him who believes!

Jesús le dijo: Si puedes creer, todo es posible para el que cree.

24 A t once the father of the boy gave '> eager, piercing, inarticulate] cry with tears, and he said, Lord, I believe! help my weakness of faith!

Al instante, el padre del muchacho dijo a gritos: Creo; ven en auxilio de mi poca fe.

25 B ut when Jesus noticed that a crowd came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, You dumb and deaf spirit, I charge you to come out of him and never go into him again.

Viendo Jesús que se agolpaba rápidamente una multitud, reprendió al espíritu inmundo, diciéndole: Espíritu mudo y sordo, yo te ordeno, sal de él y no entres más en él.

26 A nd after giving a shriek of anguish and convulsing him terribly, it came out; and the boy lay like a corpse, so that many of them said, He is dead.

Entonces salió gritando y agitándole con muchas convulsiones; y el muchacho quedó como muerto, hasta el punto de que muchos decían: Ha muerto.

27 B ut Jesus took '> a strong grip of] his hand and began lifting him up, and he stood.

Pero Jesús le tomó de la mano y le levantó, y él se puso en pie.

28 A nd when He had gone indoors, His disciples asked Him privately, Why could not we drive it out?

Cuando Jesús entró en casa, le preguntaban sus discípulos en privado: ¿Por qué no pudimos expulsarlo nosotros?

29 A nd He replied to them, This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer and fasting.

Él les dijo: Esta clase no puede salir con nada sino con oración y ayuno. Jesucristo anuncia otra vez su muerte

30 T hey went on from there and passed along through Galilee. And He did not wish to have anyone know it,

Y saliendo de allí, iban pasando a través de Galilea, y él no quería que nadie se enterase;

31 F or He was teaching His disciples. He said to them, The Son of Man is being delivered into the hands of men, and they will put Him to death; and when He has been killed, after three days He will rise '> from death].

pues él estaba enseñándoles a sus discípulos, y les decía: El Hijo del Hombre es entregado a traición en manos de hombres, y le matarán; y después de tres días, resucitará.

32 B ut they did not comprehend what He was saying, and they were afraid to ask Him.

Pero ellos no entendían este dicho, y tenían miedo de preguntarle. Contra la ambición

33 A nd they arrived at Capernaum; and when in the house, He asked them, What were you discussing and arguing about on the road?

Llegaron a Capernaúm. Y estando ya en la casa, les preguntaba: ¿Qué discutíais por el camino?

34 B ut they kept still, for on the road they had discussed and disputed with one another as to who was the greatest.

Pero ellos se callaban; porque en el camino habían discutido entre sí quién era mayor.

35 A nd He sat down and called the Twelve, and He said to them, If anyone desires to be first, he must be last of all, and servant of all.

Entonces se sentó, llamó a voces a los doce, y les dijo: Si alguien desea ser primero, que sea el último de todos y el servidor de todos.

36 A nd He took a little child and put him in the center of their group; and taking him in arms, He said to them,

Y tomando a un niño, lo puso en medio de ellos, lo tomó en sus brazos, y les dijo:

37 W hoever in My name and for My sake accepts and receives and welcomes one such child also accepts and receives and welcomes Me; and whoever so receives Me receives not only Me but Him Who sent Me.

Cualquiera que reciba a un niño como éste en mi nombre, a mí me recibe; y cualquiera que me recibe a mí, no me recibe a mí, sino al que me envió. Contra la rivalidad

38 J ohn said to Him, Teacher, we saw a man who does not follow along with us driving out demons in Your name, and we forbade him to do it, because he is not one of our band.

Juan le dijo: Maestro, vimos a uno que estaba expulsando demonios en tu nombre, pero él no nos sigue, y tratábamos de impedírselo, porque no nos seguía.

39 B ut Jesus said, Do not restrain or hinder or forbid him; for no one who does a mighty work in My name will soon afterward be able to speak evil of Me.

Pero Jesús dijo: No se lo impidáis, porque no hay nadie que haga un milagro en mi nombre, y que pueda a continuación hablar mal de mí.

40 F or he who is not against us is for us.

Pues el que no está en contra de nosotros, está a favor de nosotros.

41 F or I tell you truly, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to and bear the name of Christ will by no means fail to get his reward.

Porque cualquiera que os dé a beber un vaso de agua por el hecho de que sois de Cristo, en verdad os digo que de ninguna manera perderá su recompensa. Ocasiones de caer

42 A nd whoever causes one of these little ones (these believers) who acknowledge and cleave to Me to stumble and sin, it would be better (more profitable and wholesome) for him if a millstone were hung about his neck, and he were thrown into the sea.

Y cualquiera que sirva de piedra de tropiezo a uno solo de estos pequeños que creen en mí, mejor le sería que le ataran al cuello una piedra de molino, y que le echaran al mar.

43 A nd if your hand puts a stumbling block before you and causes you to sin, cut it off! It is more profitable and wholesome for you to go into life '> that is really worthwhile] maimed than with two hands to go to hell (Gehenna),

Y si tu mano te sirve de tropiezo, córtatela; mejor es que entres en la vida manco, que teniendo las dos manos, ir al infierno, al fuego inextinguible,

44 Where their worm does not die, and the fire is not put out.

donde su gusano no se muere, y el fuego no se apaga.

45 A nd if your foot is a cause of stumbling and sin to you, cut it off! It is more profitable and wholesome for you to enter into life crippled than, having two feet, to be cast into hell (Gehenna).

Y si tu pie te sirve de tropiezo, córtatelo; mejor es que entres en la vida cojo, que teniendo los dos pies, ser arrojado al infierno,

46 Where their worm does not die, and the fire is not put out.

donde su gusano no se muere, y el fuego no se apaga.

47 A nd if your eye causes you to stumble and sin, pluck it out! It is more profitable and wholesome for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell (Gehenna),

Y si tu ojo te sirve de tropiezo, sácatelo; mejor es que entres en el reino de Dios tuerto, que teniendo dos ojos, ser arrojado al infierno,

48 W here their worm '> which preys on the inhabitants and is a symbol of the wounds inflicted on the man himself by his sins] does not die, and the fire is not put out.

donde su gusano no se muere, y el fuego no se apaga.

49 F or everyone shall be salted with fire.

Porque todos serán salados con fuego, y todo sacrificio será salado con sal.

50 S alt is good (beneficial), but if salt has lost its saltness, how will you restore it? Have salt within yourselves, and be at peace and live in harmony with one another.

Buena es la sal; pero si la sal se vuelve insípida, ¿con qué la sazonaréis? Tened sal en vosotros mismos, y estad en paz los unos con los otros.
