1 T hen Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the chiefs of the fathers’ houses of the Israelites, before the king in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of Zion, the City of David.

Entonces Salomón reunió ante sí en Jerusalén a los ancianos de Israel, a todos los jefes de las tribus, y a los principales de las familias de los hijos de Israel, para traer el arca del pacto de Jehová desde la ciudad de David, la cual es Sión.

2 A ll the men of Israel assembled themselves before King Solomon at the feast in the seventh month, Ethanim.

Y se reunieron con el rey Salomón todos los varones de Israel en el mes de Etanim, que es el mes séptimo, en el día de la fiesta solemne.

3 A ll the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark.

Y vinieron todos los ancianos de Israel, y los sacerdotes tomaron el arca.

4 A nd they brought up the ark of the Lord, the Tent of Meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the tent; the priests and the Levites brought them up.

Y llevaron el arca de Jehová, y el tabernáculo de reunión, y todos los utensilios sagrados que estaban en el tabernáculo, los cuales llevaban los sacerdotes y levitas.

5 K ing Solomon and all the congregation of Israel who had assembled before him were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen, so many that they could not be reported or counted.

Y el rey Salomón, y toda la congregación de Israel que se había reunido con él, estaban con él delante del arca, sacrificando ovejas y bueyes, que por la multitud no se podían contar ni calcular.

6 A nd the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the Lord to its place in the Holy of Holies of the house, under the wings of the cherubim.

Y los sacerdotes metieron el arca del pacto de Jehová en su lugar, en el santuario de la casa, en el lugar santísimo, debajo de las alas de los querubines.

7 F or the cherubim spread forth their two wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered the ark and its poles.

Porque los querubines tenían extendidas las alas sobre el lugar del arca, y así cubrían los querubines el arca y sus varas por encima.

8 T he poles were so long that the ends of them were seen from the Holy Place before the Holy of Holies, but they were not seen outside; they are there to this day.

Y sacaron las varas, de manera que sus extremos se dejaban ver desde el lugar santo, que está delante del lugar santísimo, pero no se dejaban ver desde más afuera; y así quedaron hasta hoy.

9 T here was nothing in the ark except the two tables of stone which Moses put there at Horeb, where the Lord made a covenant with the Israelites when they came out of the land of Egypt.

En el arca ninguna cosa había sino las dos tablas de piedra que allí había puesto Moisés en Horeb, donde Jehová hizo pacto con los hijos de Israel, cuando salieron de la tierra de Egipto.

10 W hen the priests had come out of the Holy Place, the cloud filled the Lord’s house,

Y cuando los sacerdotes salieron del santuario, la nube llenó la casa de Jehová.

11 S o the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord’s house.

Y los sacerdotes no pudieron permanecer para ministrar por causa de la nube; porque la gloria de Jehová había llenado la casa de Jehová. Dedicación del templo

12 T hen Solomon said, The Lord said that He would dwell in the thick darkness.

Entonces dijo Salomón: Jehová ha dicho que él habitaría en la oscuridad densa de la nube.

13 I have surely built You a house of habitation, a settled place for You to dwell in forever.

Yo he edificado casa por morada para ti, sitio en que tú habites para siempre.

14 A nd the king turned his face about and blessed all the assembly of Israel, and all the assembly of Israel stood.

Y volviendo el rey su rostro, bendijo a toda la congregación de Israel; y toda la congregación de Israel estaba de pie.

15 H e said, Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, Who spoke with His mouth to David my father and has with His hand fulfilled it, saying,

Y dijo: Bendito sea Jehová, Dios de Israel, que habló a David mi padre lo que con su mano ha cumplido, diciendo:

16 S ince the day that I brought forth My people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house that My Name might be in it, but I chose David to be over My people Israel.

Desde el día en que saqué de Egipto a mi pueblo Israel, no he escogido ciudad de todas las tribus de Israel para edificar casa en la cual estuviese mi nombre, aunque escogí a David para que presidiese en mi pueblo Israel.

17 N ow it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the Name of the Lord, the God of Israel.

Y David mi padre tuvo en su corazón edificar casa al nombre de Jehová Dios de Israel.

18 A nd the Lord said to David my father, Whereas it was in your heart to build a house for My Name, you did well that it was in your heart.

Pero Jehová dijo a David mi padre: Cuanto a haber tenido en tu corazón edificar casa a mi nombre, bien has hecho en tener tal deseo.

19 Y et you shall not build the house, but your son, who shall be born to you, shall build it to My Name.

Pero tú no edificarás la casa, sino tu hijo que saldrá de tus lomos, él edificará casa a mi nombre.

20 A nd the Lord has fulfilled His promise which He made: I have risen up in the place of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the Lord promised, and have built a house for the Name (renown) of the Lord, the God of Israel.

Y Jehová ha cumplido su palabra que había dicho; porque yo me he levantado en lugar de David mi padre, y me he sentado en el trono de Israel, como Jehová había dicho, y he edificado la casa al nombre de Jehová Dios de Israel.

21 A nd I have made there a place for the ark '> His presence], in which is the covenant of the Lord which He made with our fathers when He brought them out of the land of Egypt.

Y he puesto en ella lugar para el arca, en la cual está el pacto de Jehová que él hizo con nuestros padres cuando los sacó de la tierra de Egipto. Oración personal de Salomón

22 T hen Solomon stood before the Lord’s burnt offering altar in the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven

Luego se puso Salomón delante del altar de Jehová, en presencia de toda la congregación de Israel, y extendiendo sus manos al cielo,

23 A nd he said, O Lord, the God of Israel, there is no God like You in heaven above or on earth beneath, keeping covenant and showing mercy and loving-kindness to Your servants who walk before You with all their heart.

dijo: Jehová Dios de Israel, no hay Dios como tú, ni arriba en los cielos ni abajo en la tierra, que guardas el pacto y la misericordia a tus siervos, los que andan delante de ti con todo su corazón;

24 Y ou have kept what You promised Your servant David my father. You also spoke with Your mouth and have fulfilled it with Your hand, as it is this day.

que has cumplido a tu siervo David mi padre lo que le prometiste; lo dijiste con tu boca, y con tu mano lo has cumplido, como sucede en este día.

25 T herefore now, O Lord, the God of Israel, keep with Your servant David my father what You promised him when You said, There shall not fail you a man before Me to sit on the throne of Israel, if only your children take heed to their way, that they walk before Me as you have done.

Ahora, pues, Jehová Dios de Israel, cumple a tu siervo David mi padre lo que le prometiste, diciendo: No te faltará varón delante de mí, que se siente en el trono de Israel, con tal que tus hijos guarden mi camino y anden delante de mí como tú has andado delante de mí.

26 N ow, O God of Israel, let Your word which You spoke to Your servant David my father be confirmed.

Ahora, pues, oh Jehová Dios de Israel, cúmplase la palabra que dijiste a tu siervo David mi padre.

27 B ut will God indeed dwell with men on the earth? Behold, the heavens and heaven of heavens cannot contain You; how much less this house that I have built?

Pero ¿es verdad que Dios morará sobre la tierra? He aquí que los cielos, los cielos de los cielos, no te pueden contener; ¿cuánto menos esta casa que yo he edificado?

28 Y et graciously consider the prayer and supplication of Your servant, O Lord my God, to hearken to the cry and prayer which he prays before You today,

Con todo, tú atenderás a la oración de tu siervo, y a su plegaria, oh Jehová Dios mío, oyendo el clamor y la oración que tu siervo hace hoy delante de ti;

29 T hat Your eyes may be open toward this house night and day, toward the place of which You have said, My Name shall be there, that You may hearken to the prayer which Your servant shall make in this place.

que estén tus ojos abiertos de noche y de día sobre esta casa, sobre este lugar del cual has dicho: Mi nombre estará allí; y que oigas la oración que tu siervo haga en este lugar. Súplicas por el pueblo

30 H earken to the prayer of Your servant and of Your people Israel when they pray in or toward this place. Hear in heaven, Your dwelling place, and when You hear, forgive.

Oye, pues, la oración de tu siervo, y de tu pueblo Israel; cuando oren en este lugar, también tú lo oirás en el lugar de tu morada, en los cielos; escucha y perdona.

31 W henever a man sins against his neighbor and is made to take an oath and comes and swears the oath before Your altar in this house,

Si alguno peca contra su prójimo, y le toman juramento haciéndole jurar, y viene el juramento delante de tu altar en esta casa;

32 T hen hear in heaven and do and judge Your servants, condemning the wicked by bringing his guilt upon his own head and justifying the righteous by rewarding him according to his righteousness (his uprightness, right standing with God).

tú oirás desde el cielo y actuarás, y juzgarás a tus siervos, condenando al impío y haciendo recaer su proceder sobre su cabeza, y justificando al justo para darle conforme a su justicia.

33 W hen Your people Israel are struck down before the enemy because they have sinned against You, and they turn again to You, confess Your name (Your revelation of Yourself), and pray, beseeching You in this house,

Si tu pueblo Israel es derrotado delante de sus enemigos por haber pecado contra ti, y se vuelven a ti y confiesan tu nombre, y oran y te ruegan y suplican en esta casa,

34 T hen hear in heaven and forgive the sin of Your people Israel and return them to the land You gave to their fathers.

tú oirás en los cielos, y perdonarás el pecado de tu pueblo Israel, y los volverás a la tierra que diste a sus padres.

35 W hen heaven is shut up and no rain falls because they have sinned against You, if they pray in this place and confess Your name (Your revelation of Yourself) and turn from their sin when You afflict them,

Si el cielo se cierra y no llueve, por haber ellos pecado contra ti, y te ruegan en este lugar y confiesan tu nombre, y se vuelven del pecado, cuando los aflijas,

36 T hen hear in heaven and forgive the sin of Your servants, Your people Israel, when You teach them the good way in which they should walk. And give rain upon Your land which You have given to Your people as an inheritance.

tú oirás en los cielos, y perdonarás el pecado de tus siervos y de tu pueblo Israel, enseñándoles el buen camino en que anden; y darás lluvias sobre tu tierra, la cual diste a tu pueblo por heredad.

37 I f there is famine in the land or pestilence, blight, mildew, locust, or caterpillar, if their enemy besieges them in the land of their cities, whatever plague, whatever sickness there is,

Si en la tierra hay hambre, pestilencia, tizoncillo, añublo, langosta o pulgón; si sus enemigos los sitian en la tierra en donde habiten; cualquier plaga o enfermedad que sea;

38 W hatever prayer or supplication is made by any or all of Your people Israel—each man knowing the affliction of his own heart, and spreading forth his hands toward this house —

toda oración y toda súplica que haga cualquier hombre, o todo tu pueblo Israel, cuando cualquiera sienta la plaga en su corazón, y extienda sus manos a esta casa,

39 T hen hear in heaven, Your dwelling place, and forgive and act and give to every man according to his ways, whose heart You know, for You and You only know the hearts of all the children of men,

tú oirás en los cielos, en el lugar de tu morada, y perdonarás, y actuarás, y darás a cada uno conforme a sus caminos, cuyo corazón tú conoces (porque sólo tú conoces el corazón de todos los hijos de los hombres);

40 T hat they may fear and revere You all the days that they live in the land which You gave to our fathers.

para que te teman todos los días que vivan sobre la faz de la tierra que tú diste a nuestros padres. Suplementos

41 M oreover, concerning a stranger who is not of Your people Israel but comes from a far country for the sake of Your name —

Asimismo el extranjero, que no es de tu pueblo Israel, que venga de lejanas tierras a causa de tu nombre

42 F or they will hear of Your great name (Your revelation of Yourself), Your strong hand, and outstretched arm—when he shall pray in this house,

(pues oirán de tu gran nombre, de tu mano fuerte y de tu brazo extendido), y venga a orar a esta casa,

43 H ear in heaven, Your dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger asks of You, so that all peoples of the earth may know Your name '> Your revelation of Your presence] and fear and revere You, as do Your people Israel, and may know and comprehend that this house which I have built is called by Your Name.

tú oirás en los cielos, en el lugar de tu morada, y harás conforme a todo aquello por lo cual el extranjero haya clamado a ti, para que todos los pueblos de la tierra conozcan tu nombre y te teman, como tu pueblo Israel, y entiendan que tu nombre es invocado sobre esta casa que yo edifiqué.

44 I f Your people go out to battle against their enemy, wherever You shall send them, and shall pray to the Lord toward the city which You have chosen and the house that I have built for Your Name,

Si tu pueblo sale a la batalla contra sus enemigos por el camino que tú les mandes, y oran a Jehová con el rostro hacia la ciudad que tú elegiste, y hacia la casa que yo edifiqué a tu nombre,

45 T hen hear in heaven their prayer and supplication, and defend their cause and maintain their right.

tú oirás en los cielos su oración y su súplica, y les harás justicia.

46 I f they sin against You—for there is no man who does not sin—and You are angry with them and deliver them to the enemy, so that they are carried away captive to the enemy’s land, far or near;

Si pecan contra ti (porque no hay hombre que no peque), y estás tú irritado contra ellos, y los entregas delante del enemigo, para que los cautive y lleve a tierra enemiga, sea lejos o cerca,

47 Y et if they think and consider in the land where they were carried captive, and repent and make supplication to You there, saying, We have sinned and have done perversely and wickedly;

y ellos vuelven en sí en la tierra donde estén cautivos; si se convierten, y oran a ti en la tierra de los que los cautivaron, y dicen: Pecamos, hemos hecho lo malo, hemos cometido impiedad;

48 I f they repent and turn to You with all their mind and with all their heart in the land of their enemies who took them captive, and pray to You toward their land which You gave to their fathers, the city which You have chosen, and the house which I have built for Your Name;

y si se convierten a ti de todo su corazón y de toda su alma, en la tierra de sus enemigos que los hayan llevado cautivos, y oran a ti con el rostro hacia su tierra que tú diste a sus padres, y hacia la ciudad que tú elegiste y la casa que yo he edificado a tu nombre,

49 T hen hear their prayer and their supplication in heaven, Your dwelling place, and defend their cause and maintain their right.

tú oirás en los cielos, en el lugar de tu morada, su oración y su súplica, y les harás justicia.

50 A nd forgive Your people, who have sinned against You, and all their transgressions against You, and grant them compassion before those who took them captive, that they may have pity and be merciful to them;

Y perdonarás a tu pueblo que había pecado contra ti, y todas sus infracciones con que se hayan rebelado contra ti, y harás que tengan de ellos misericordia los que los hayan llevado cautivos;

51 F or they are Your people and Your heritage, which You brought out of Egypt, from the midst of the iron furnace.

porque ellos son tu pueblo y tu heredad, que tú sacaste de Egipto, de en medio del horno de hierro.

52 L et Your eyes be open to the supplication of Your servant and of Your people Israel, to hearken to them in all for which they call to You.

Estén, pues, atentos tus ojos a la oración de tu siervo y la plegaria de tu pueblo Israel, para oírlos en todo aquello por lo cual te invoquen;

53 F or You separated them from among all the peoples of the earth to be Your heritage, as You declared through Moses Your servant when You brought our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord God.

porque tú los apartaste para ti como heredad tuya de entre todos los pueblos de la tierra, como lo dijiste por medio de Moisés tu siervo, cuando sacaste a nuestros padres de Egipto, oh Señor Jehová. Bendición final

54 W hen Solomon finished offering all this prayer and supplication to the Lord, he arose from before the Lord’s altar, where he had knelt with hands stretched toward heaven.

Cuando acabó Salomón de hacer a Jehová toda esta oración y súplica, se levantó de estar de rodillas delante del altar de Jehová con sus manos extendidas al cielo;

55 A nd he stood and blessed all the assembly of Israel with a loud voice, saying,

y puesto en pie, bendijo a toda la congregación de Israel, diciendo en voz alta:

56 B lessed be the Lord, Who has given rest to His people Israel, according to all that He promised. Not one word has failed of all His good promise which He promised through Moses His servant.

Bendito sea Jehová, que ha dado paz a su pueblo Israel, conforme a todo lo que él había dicho; ninguna palabra de todas sus promesas que expresó por Moisés su siervo, ha faltado.

57 M ay the Lord our God be with us as He was with our fathers; may He not leave us or forsake us,

Esté con nosotros Jehová nuestro Dios, como estuvo con nuestros padres, y no nos desampare ni nos deje.

58 T hat He may incline our hearts to Him, to walk in all His ways and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His precepts which He commanded our fathers.

Incline nuestro corazón hacia él, para que andemos en todos sus caminos, y guardemos sus mandamientos y sus estatutos y sus decretos, los cuales mandó a nuestros padres.

59 L et these my words, with which I have made supplication before the Lord, be near to the Lord our God day and night, that He may maintain the cause and right of His servant and of His people Israel as each day requires,

Y estas mis palabras con que he orado delante de Jehová, permanezcan cerca de Jehová nuestro Dios de día y de noche, para que él proteja la causa de su siervo y de su pueblo Israel, según la necesidad de cada día;

60 T hat all the earth’s people may know that the Lord is God and that there is no other.

a fin de que todos los pueblos de la tierra sepan que Jehová es Dios, y que no hay otro.

61 L et your hearts therefore be blameless and wholly true to the Lord our God, to walk in His statutes and to keep His commandments, as today.

Sea, pues, perfecto vuestro corazón para con Jehová nuestro Dios, andando en sus estatutos y guardando sus mandamientos, como en el día de hoy.

62 A nd the king and all Israel with him offered sacrifice before the Lord.

Entonces el rey, y todo Israel con él, sacrificaron víctimas delante de Jehová.

63 S olomon offered as peace offerings to the Lord: 22, 000 oxen and 120, 000 sheep. So the king and all the Israelites dedicated the house of the Lord.

Y ofreció Salomón sacrificios de paz, los cuales ofreció a Jehová, veintidós mil bueyes y ciento veinte mil ovejas. Así dedicaron el rey y todos los hijos de Israel la casa de Jehová.

64 O n that same day the king consecrated the middle of the court that was before the Lord’s house; there he offered burnt offerings, cereal offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings, because the bronze altar that was before the Lord was too small to receive the offerings.

Aquel mismo día santificó el rey el interior del atrio, que estaba delante de la casa de Jehová; porque ofreció allí los holocaustos, las ofrendas y las grasas de los sacrificios de paz, por cuanto el altar de bronce que estaba delante de Jehová era pequeño, y no cabían en él los holocaustos, las ofrendas y las grasas de los sacrificios de paz.

65 S o at that time Solomon held the feast, and all Israel with him, a great assembly, from the entrance of Hamath to the Brook of Egypt, before the Lord our God, for seven days and seven days, fourteen days in all.

En aquel tiempo celebró Salomón la fiesta, y con él todo Israel, en una magna asamblea de israelitas procedentes desde Hamat hasta la entrada del río de Egipto, delante de Jehová nuestro Dios, por siete días y la prolongó por otros siete días, esto es, por catorce días en total.

66 O n the eighth day he sent the people away; they blessed the king and went to their tents with greatest joy and gratitude for all the goodness the Lord had shown to David His servant and Israel His people.

Al octavo día despidió al pueblo; y ellos, bendiciendo al rey, se fueron a sus moradas, alegres y gozosos de corazón, por todos los beneficios que Jehová había hecho a David su siervo y a su pueblo Israel.
