1 E lihu proceeded and said,

Añadió Eliú y dijo:

2 B ear with me and wait a little longer, and I will show you, for I have something still to say on God’s behalf.

Espérame un poco, y te enseñaré; Porque todavía tengo razones en defensa de Dios.

3 I will bring my knowledge from afar and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.

Tomaré mi saber desde lejos, Y atribuiré justicia a mi Hacedor.

4 F or truly my words shall not be false; He Who is perfect in knowledge is with you.

Porque de cierto no son mentira mis palabras; Contigo está el que es íntegro en sus conceptos.

5 B ehold! God is mighty, and yet despises no one nor regards anything as trivial; He is mighty in power of understanding and heart.

He aquí que Dios es grande, pero no desestima a nadie; Es poderoso en fuerza de sabiduría.

6 H e does not prolong the life of the wicked, but gives the needy and afflicted their right.

No otorgará vida al impío, Pero a los afligidos dará su derecho.

7 H e withdraws not His eyes from the righteous (the upright in right standing with God); but He sets them forever with kings upon the throne, and they are exalted.

No apartará de los justos sus ojos; Antes bien con los reyes los pondrá en trono para siempre, Y serán exaltados.

8 A nd if they are bound in fetters and held by cords of affliction,

Y si estuvieren prendidos en grillos, Y aprisionados en las cuerdas de aflicción,

9 T hen He shows to them their deeds and their transgressions, that they have acted arrogantly.

El les dará a conocer la obra de ellos, Y que prevalecieron sus rebeliones.

10 H e also opens their ears to instruction and discipline, and commands that they return from iniquity.

Despierta además el oído de ellos para la corrección, Y les dice que se conviertan de la iniquidad.

11 I f they obey and serve Him, they shall spend their days in prosperity and their years in pleasantness and joy.

Si oyeren, y le sirvieren, Acabarán sus días en bienestar, Y sus años en dicha.

12 B ut if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die in ignorance of true knowledge.

Pero si no oyeren, serán pasados a espada, Y perecerán sin sabiduría.

13 B ut the godless and profane in heart heap up anger; they do not cry to Him when He binds them.

Mas los hipócritas de corazón atesoran para sí la ira, Y no clamarán cuando él los atare.

14 T hey die in youth, and their life perishes among the unclean (those who are sodomites).

Fallecerá el alma de ellos en su juventud, Y su vida entre los sodomitas.

15 H e delivers the afflicted in their affliction and opens their ears in adversity.

Al pobre librará de su pobreza, Y en la aflicción despertará su oído.

16 I ndeed, God would have allured you out of the mouth of distress into a broad place where there is no situation of perplexity or privation; and that which would be set on your table would be full of fatness.

Asimismo te apartará de la boca de la angustia A lugar espacioso, libre de todo apuro, Y te preparará mesa llena de grosura.

17 B ut if you are filled with the judgment of the wicked, judgment and justice will keep hold on you.

Mas tú has llenado el juicio del impío, En vez de sustentar el juicio y la justicia.

18 F or let not wrath entice you into scorning chastisements; and let not the greatness of the ransom turn you aside.

Por lo cual teme, no sea que en su ira te quite con golpe, El cual no puedas apartar de ti con gran rescate.

19 W ill your cry be sufficient to keep you from distress, or will all the force of your strength do it?

¿Hará él estima de tus riquezas, del oro, O de todas las fuerzas del poder?

20 D esire not the night, when peoples are cut off from their places;

No anheles la noche, En que los pueblos desaparecen de su lugar.

21 T ake heed, turn not to iniquity, for this you have chosen rather than affliction.

Guárdate, no te vuelvas a la iniquidad; Pues ésta escogiste más bien que la aflicción.

22 B ehold, God exalts and does loftily in His power; who is a ruler or a teacher like Him?

He aquí que Dios es excelso en su poder; ¿Qué enseñador semejante a él?

23 W ho has appointed God His way? Or who can say, You have done unrighteousness?

¿Quién le ha prescrito su camino? ¿Y quién le dirá: Has hecho mal?

24 R emember that you magnify God’s work, of which men have sung.

Acuérdate de engrandecer su obra, La cual contemplan los hombres.

25 A ll men have looked upon God’s work; man may behold it afar off.

Los hombres todos la ven; La mira el hombre de lejos.

26 B ehold, God is great, and we know Him not! The number of His years is unsearchable.

He aquí, Dios es grande, y nosotros no le conocemos, Ni se puede seguir la huella de sus años.

27 F or He draws up the drops of water, which distil as rain from His vapor,

El atrae las gotas de las aguas, Al transformarse el vapor en lluvia,

28 W hich the skies pour down and drop abundantly upon mankind.

La cual destilan las nubes, Goteando en abundancia sobre los hombres.

29 N ot only that, but can anyone understand the spreadings of the clouds or the thunderings of His pavilion?

¿Quién podrá comprender la extensión de las nubes, Y el sonido estrepitoso de su morada?

30 B ehold, He spreads His lightning against the dark clouds and covers the roots of the sea.

He aquí que sobre él extiende su luz, Y cobija con ella las profundidades del mar.

31 F or by God executes judgment upon the peoples; He gives food in abundance.

Bien que por esos medios castiga a los pueblos, A la multitud él da sustento.

32 H e covers His hands with the lightning and commands it to strike the mark.

Con las nubes encubre la luz, Y le manda no brillar, interponiendo aquéllas.

33 H is thunderings speak concerning Him; the cattle are told of His coming storm.

El trueno declara su indignación, Y la tempestad proclama su ira contra la iniquidad.
