1 L ooking up, saw the rich people putting their gifts into the treasury.

Levantando los ojos, vio a los ricos que echaban sus ofrendas en el arca de las ofrendas.

2 A nd He saw also a poor widow putting in two mites (copper coins).

Vio también a una viuda muy pobre, que echaba allí dos blancas.

3 A nd He said, Truly I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them;

Y dijo: En verdad os digo, que esta viuda pobre echó más que todos.

4 F or they all gave out of their abundance (their surplus); but she has contributed out of her lack and her want, putting in all that she had on which to live.

Porque todos aquéllos echaron para las ofrendas de Dios de lo que les sobra; mas ésta, de su pobreza echó todo el sustento que tenía. Jesús predice la destrucción del templo (Mt. 24. 1-2; Mr. 13. 1-2)

5 A nd as some were saying of the temple that it was decorated with handsome (shapely and magnificent) stones and consecrated offerings '> laid up to be kept], He said,

Y a unos que hablaban de que el templo estaba adornado de hermosas piedras y ofrendas votivas, dijo:

6 A s for all this that you look at, the time will come when there shall not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.

En cuanto a estas cosas que veis, días vendrán en que no quedará piedra sobre piedra, que no sea destruida. Señales antes del fin (Mt. 24. 3-28; Mr. 13. 3-23)

7 A nd they asked Him, Teacher, when will this happen? And what sign will there be when this is about to occur?

Y le preguntaron, diciendo: Maestro, ¿cuándo será esto? ¿y qué señal habrá cuando estas cosas estén para suceder?

8 A nd He said, Be on your guard and be careful that you are not led astray; for many will come in My name '> appropriating to themselves the name Messiah which belongs to Me], saying, I am He! and, The time is at hand! Do not go out after them.

Él entonces dijo: Mirad que no seáis engañados; porque vendrán muchos en mi nombre, diciendo: Yo soy el Cristo, y: El tiempo está cerca. Mas no vayáis en pos de ellos.

9 A nd when you hear of wars and insurrections (disturbances, disorder, and confusion), do not become alarmed and panic-stricken and terrified; for all this must take place first, but the end will not immediately.

Y cuando oigáis de guerras y de sediciones, no os alarméis; porque es necesario que estas cosas acontezcan primero; pero el fin no será inmediatamente.

10 T hen He told them, Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.

Entonces les dijo: Se levantará nación contra nación, y reino contra reino;

11 T here will be mighty and violent earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences (plagues: malignant and contagious or infectious epidemic diseases which are deadly and devastating); and there will be sights of terror and great signs from heaven.

y habrá grandes terremotos, y en diferentes lugares hambres y pestilencias; y habrá terror y grandes señales del cielo.

12 B ut previous to all this, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, turning you over to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be led away before kings and governors for My name’s sake.

Pero antes de todas estas cosas os echarán mano, y os perseguirán, y os entregarán a las sinagogas y a las cárceles, y seréis llevados ante reyes y ante gobernadores por causa de mi nombre.

13 T his will be a time (an opportunity) for you to bear testimony.

Y esto os será ocasión para dar testimonio.

14 R esolve and settle it in your minds not to meditate and prepare beforehand how you are to make your defense and how you will answer.

Proponed en vuestros corazones no pensar antes cómo habéis de responder en vuestra defensa;

15 F or I will give you a mouth and such utterance and wisdom that all of your foes combined will be unable to stand against or refute.

porque yo os daré palabra y sabiduría, la cual no podrán resistir ni contradecir todos los que se opongan.

16 Y ou will be delivered up and betrayed even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and of you they will put to death.

Mas seréis entregados aun por vuestros padres, y hermanos, y parientes, y amigos; y matarán a algunos de vosotros;

17 A nd you will be hated (despised) by everyone because My name and for its sake.

y seréis aborrecidos de todos por causa de mi nombre.

18 B ut not a hair of your head shall perish.

Pero ni un cabello de vuestra cabeza perecerá.

19 B y your steadfastness and patient endurance you shall win the true life of your souls.

Con vuestra paciencia ganaréis vuestras almas.

20 B ut when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know and understand that its desolation has come near.

Pero cuando viereis a Jerusalén rodeada de ejércitos, sabed entonces que su destrucción ha llegado.

21 T hen let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are inside get out of it, and let not those who are out in the country come into it;

Entonces los que estén en Judea, huyan a los montes; y los que en medio de ella, váyanse; y los que estén en los campos, no entren en ella.

22 F or those are days of vengeance, that all things that are written may be fulfilled.

Porque estos son días de retribución, para que se cumplan todas las cosas que están escritas.

23 A las for those who are pregnant and for those who have babies which they are nursing in those days! For great misery and anguish and distress shall be upon the land and indignation and punishment and retribution upon this people.

Mas!! ay de las que estén encintas, y de las que críen en aquellos días! porque habrá gran calamidad en la tierra, e ira sobre este pueblo.

24 T hey will fall by the mouth and the edge of the sword and will be led away as captives to and among all nations; and Jerusalem will be trodden down by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled (completed).

Y caerán a filo de espada, y serán llevados cautivos a todas las naciones; y Jerusalén será hollada por los gentiles, hasta que los tiempos de los gentiles se cumplan. La venida del Hijo del Hombre (Mt. 24. 29-35, 42-44; Mr. 13. 24-37)

25 A nd there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars; and upon the earth distress (trouble and anguish) of nations in bewilderment and perplexity '> without resources, left wanting, embarrassed, in doubt, not knowing which way to turn] at the roaring ( the echo) of the tossing of the sea,

Entonces habrá señales en el sol, en la luna y en las estrellas, y en la tierra angustia de las gentes, confundidas a causa del bramido del mar y de las olas;

26 M en swooning away or expiring with fear and dread and apprehension and expectation of the things that are coming on the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken and caused to totter.

desfalleciendo los hombres por el temor y la expectación de las cosas que sobrevendrán en la tierra; porque las potencias de los cielos serán conmovidas.

27 A nd then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with great (transcendent and overwhelming) power and glory (majesty and splendor).

Entonces verán al Hijo del Hombre, que vendrá en una nube con poder y gran gloria.

28 N ow when these things begin to occur, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption (deliverance) is drawing near.

Cuando estas cosas comiencen a suceder, erguíos y levantad vuestra cabeza, porque vuestra redención está cerca.

29 A nd He told them a parable: Look at the fig tree and all the trees;

También les dijo una parábola: Mirad la higuera y todos los árboles.

30 W hen they put forth their buds and come out in leaf, you see for yourselves and perceive and know that summer is already near.

Cuando ya brotan, viéndolo, sabéis por vosotros mismos que el verano está ya cerca.

31 E ven so, when you see these things taking place, understand and know that the kingdom of God is at hand.

Así también vosotros, cuando veáis que suceden estas cosas, sabed que está cerca el reino de Dios.

32 T ruly I tell you, this generation ( those living at that definite period of time) will not perish and pass away until all has taken place.

De cierto os digo, que no pasará esta generación hasta que todo esto acontezca.

33 T he sky and the earth ( the universe, the world) will pass away, but My words will not pass away.

El cielo y la tierra pasarán, pero mis palabras no pasarán.

34 B ut take heed to yourselves and be on your guard, lest your hearts be overburdened and depressed (weighed down) with the giddiness and headache and nausea of self-indulgence, drunkenness, and worldly worries and cares pertaining to '> business of] this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap or a noose;

Mirad también por vosotros mismos, que vuestros corazones no se carguen de glotonería y embriaguez y de los afanes de esta vida, y venga de repente sobre vosotros aquel día.

35 F or it will come upon all who live upon the face of the entire earth.

Porque como un lazo vendrá sobre todos los que habitan sobre la faz de toda la tierra.

36 K eep awake then and watch at all times, praying that you may have the full strength and ability and be accounted worthy to escape all these things that will take place, and to stand in the presence of the Son of Man.

Velad, pues, en todo tiempo orando que seáis tenidos por dignos de escapar de todas estas cosas que vendrán, y de estar en pie delante del Hijo del Hombre.

37 N ow in the daytime Jesus was teaching in '> the porches and courts of] the temple, but at night He would go out and stay on the mount called Olivet.

Y enseñaba de día en el templo; y de noche, saliendo, se estaba en el monte que se llama de los Olivos.

38 A nd early in the morning all the people came to Him in the temple '> porches or courts] to listen to Him.

Y todo el pueblo venía a él por la mañana, para oírle en el templo.
