1 H e who, being often reproved, hardens his neck shall suddenly be destroyed—and that without remedy.

El hombre que reprendido endurece la cerviz, De repente será quebrantado, y no habrá para él medicina.

2 W hen the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked man rules, the people groan and sigh.

Cuando los justos dominan, el pueblo se alegra; Mas cuando domina el impío, el pueblo gime.

3 W hoever loves skillful and godly Wisdom rejoices his father, but he who associates with harlots wastes his substance.

El hombre que ama la sabiduría alegra a su padre; Mas el que frecuenta rameras perderá los bienes.

4 T he king by justice establishes the land, but he who exacts gifts and tribute overthrows it.

El rey con el juicio afirma la tierra; Mas el que exige presentes la destruye.

5 A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his own feet.

El hombre que lisonjea a su prójimo, Red tiende delante de sus pasos.

6 I n the transgression of an evil man there is a snare, but the righteous man sings and rejoices.

En la transgresión del hombre malo hay lazo; Mas el justo cantará y se alegrará.

7 T he righteous man knows and cares for the rights of the poor, but the wicked man has no interest in such knowledge.

Conoce el justo la causa de los pobres; Mas el impío no entiende sabiduría.

8 S coffers set a city afire, but wise men turn away wrath.

Los hombres escarnecedores ponen la ciudad en llamas; Mas los sabios apartan la ira.

9 I f a wise man has an argument with a foolish man, the fool only rages or laughs, and there is no rest.

Si el hombre sabio contendiere con el necio, Que se enoje o que se ría, no tendrá reposo.

10 T he bloodthirsty hate the blameless man, but the upright care for and seek his life.

Los hombres sanguinarios aborrecen al perfecto, Mas los rectos buscan su contentamiento.

11 A fool utters all his anger, but a wise man holds it back and stills it.

El necio da rienda suelta a toda su ira, Mas el sabio al fin la sosiega.

12 I f a ruler listens to falsehood, all his officials will become wicked.

Si un gobernante atiende la palabra mentirosa, Todos sus servidores serán impíos.

13 T he poor man and the oppressor meet together—the Lord gives light to the eyes of both.

El pobre y el usurero se encuentran; Jehová alumbra los ojos de ambos.

14 T he king who faithfully judges the poor, his throne shall be established continuously.

Del rey que juzga con verdad a los pobres, El trono será firme para siempre.

15 T he rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left undisciplined brings his mother to shame.

La vara y la corrección dan sabiduría; Mas el muchacho consentido avergonzará a su madre.

16 W hen the wicked are in authority, transgression increases, but the righteous shall see the fall of the wicked.

Cuando los impíos son muchos, mucha es la transgresión; Mas los justos verán la ruina de ellos.

17 C orrect your son, and he will give you rest; yes, he will give delight to your heart.

Corrige a tu hijo, y te dará descanso, Y dará alegría a tu alma.

18 W here there is no vision, the people perish; but he who keeps the law —blessed (happy, fortunate, and enviable) is he.

Sin profecía el pueblo se desenfrena; Mas el que guarda la ley es bienaventurado.

19 A servant will not be corrected by words alone; for though he understands, he will not answer.

El siervo no se corrige con palabras; Porque entiende, mas no hace caso.

20 D o you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

¿Has visto hombre ligero en sus palabras? Más esperanza hay del necio que de él.

21 H e who pampers his servant from childhood will have him expecting the rights of a son afterward.

El siervo mimado desde la niñez por su amo, A la postre será su heredero.

22 A man of wrath stirs up strife, and a man given to anger commits and causes much transgression.

El hombre iracundo levanta contiendas, Y el furioso muchas veces peca.

23 A man’s pride will bring him low, but he who is of a humble spirit will obtain honor.

La soberbia del hombre le abate; Pero al humilde de espíritu sustenta la honra.

24 W hoever is partner with a thief hates his own life; he falls under the curse but discloses nothing.

El cómplice del ladrón aborrece su propia alma; Pues oye la imprecación y no dice nada.

25 T he fear of man brings a snare, but whoever leans on, trusts in, and puts his confidence in the Lord is safe and set on high.

El temor del hombre pondrá lazo; Mas el que confía en Jehová será exaltado.

26 M any crave and seek the ruler’s favor, but the wise man for justice from the Lord.

Muchos buscan el favor del príncipe; Mas de Jehová viene el juicio de cada uno.

27 A n unjust man is an abomination to the righteous, and he who is upright in the way is an abomination to the wicked.

Abominación es a los justos el hombre inicuo; Y abominación es al impío el de caminos rectos.
